UPDATE: Rams claim Baker Mayfield

I think this game will go down in 2022 season history if you consider all the improbable things that made it happen;

48 Hours prep for a former first round draft pick who was discarded and that nobody else put a claim in on.

A super short Rams team prep time for a Thursday night game.

Rams on a 6 game losing streak and a touchdown down in the spread.

Our fourth quarterback of the year leads a two touchdown come back.

Offensive line injuries with mutlple discarded street free agents.

Our two top wideouts out for the year.

Just amazing.

And it has to be a top 5 game for baker. You have his first NFL start in Cleveland, his first playoff game, first start for Carolina and then this. Such a boost and potential resurrection to his career when alot of people, myself included have been thinking he's a bust.

Now, this may be an anomaly but I'm now giving him the benefit of doubt.

Looking at the 9ers, they could be in a deep hole

Soon enough? Like right now. The rams are going to have a losing record and should be figuring out who can play and who can’t. The only good news is the evaluation process can start now with real games against real teams not camp and preseason. McVay has to figure out how to get this offense going again as they misread the way defenses would attack them. I think the “other guys” have gotten a lot of valuable experience. If this team had any pass rush besides AD they would have several more wins.

Right now, it seems like the Rams are almost in pre-season mode. Let's find out who can play when the lights come on.

OBJ not 100%?

Malibu is talking about career longevity, not contract size. Won't mean anything if OBJ rushes onto the field and ends his career bc he wasn't fully healed. If he is forced to wait, he may end up having to take a "prove it" deal, but he may then very much be able to prove it and get a larger co tract afterward.
True but his 2023 season will probably be a 1 year deal and then......if he doesn't get injured he'll get a deal at 32. But for how long?
Without a contract, there is no longevity
Going in to an age 31 season as a FA off 2 ACL surgery means there is no career longevity at this point, its about grabbing a paycheck
And he's not getting a long term high money deal. So would LA be a good spot? He showed what he could do in a good offense. If he wants to do it again there aren't that many teams.

Pet Peeve

This is the perfect time to share a pet peeve of mine since a) I'm not a Wolford fan, and b) it didn't impact Rams chances of making playoffs.

Here it is: How can the helmet to the face of Wolford not get called (or even mentioned by the announcers), while the "potentially flagrant" call in the secondary against the Rams gets penalized and discussed ad nauseum?

The league is supposed to watch out for QBs, yet refs and broadcast crew ignored the hit on Wolford. While the penalty against the Rams was only caused because the receiver bobbled the ball and dipped his head before contact. When the defender made the tackle, he was aiming for the dude's torso...

How can we possibly have a 10 minute discussion about whether this "obvious" penalty should be flagrant or not and whether there will be a fine? While the backup QB playing a position the league has gone out of its way to protect (and in for the billion dollar QB who is out due to concussion and spine issues) not only doesn't get a penalty, but nobody on the broadcast even points it out???

I continue to be baffled by shit like this.
I would say that the league cares about QB’s a lot…..unless they’re nobody backups or guys the league isn’t going out of their way to promote ad nauseum.

Sean McVay: Matthew Stafford not throwing in offseason affected 2022

Fuckin Foolio.

The point of the goddamn NFL is to win goddamn football games, division titles, and CHAMPIONSHIPS. Not who has the most draft picks and the best fuckin cap situation.

Also FUCK the draft pick. "Reward" for a bad season??? Go suck eggs Foolio. FUCK being relevant in March and April (and April is my birthday month!). This shit alone beats any top 5 draft pick:

Go ask Bill fans or Viking fans if rings matter. Or Niner fans that haven't had one since 1995, or Cowboy fans that haven't had one since 1996.

I'll take a ring and garbage 3 seasons over 4 contending and fall short seasons. Any day of the week. Thanks for playing. Idiots.

2023 Rams - What will they look like (Will we recognize them?)?

I don't think people understand how good the rams are going to be again next season ....
They just won the super bowl. They had practically no offseason. No one had time to get fully rested / healthy. With the new 17 game schedule you will see more and more super bowl champs suffer the following year. There's a price to pay.
Stafford will have a full season to heal his arm
The OL will be healthy
The WR group is still a strength
The D didn't just forget how to play and early in the season were balling
High pick in the second round

Breath. Watch the young guys develop and get a chance to see if they can be contributors next year. This team is going to be dangerous
