Any other stutterers here?

That sounds like Mel. :)

Does that extend to your posting as well? I find myself deleting sentences or entire posts because I didn't think it through due to being excited or upset.

Well I do tend to delete a lot of stuff , not sure if that's the reason or not , but I do tend to repeat a lot of stuff , before I hit the Post Reply button , I'll kinda proof read what I wrote first , only to discover there are parts where I've repeated a lot of stuff like six times , :sneaky:

But yea , there are many times I've deleted or edited a post afterwards , and after I thought about it for a second............lol

If Goff is out

What if the new coach values competition and Mannion outplays Goff what happens then..
Seattle's Wilson rookie year, the Seachickens had just signed a FA QB for 10 million dollars. I'm no Pete fan, but that decision to go with the rookie instead of the vet (that didn't play poorly) is what separates winners from losers. We have erred at these critical moments repeated at multiple positions for years.

Eric Dickerson on the Rich Eisen Show (Firing Fisher, Trading for Faulk, and possibly becoming a GM)

How and why....hmm...
I see being a general manager's job as assembling talented scouts in various regions of the country. And the ability to recognize talent. Special talent, that will translate to the pro level. I see former players as excellent candidates. In either capacity. No one believed Elway could be a great GM/President, when in fact he appears to be one of the best now. They said the same about Dan Marino in Miami....Not sure what he does down there but the results haven't panned out. The only question in my mind is, will ED put in the work. Just by listening to him, he seems passionate about the RAMS...Lives in LA and actually wants the job. Sounds like a match to me. As I have said previously, I don't believe evaluating college talent is necessarily hard....if you know what you're looking for.
And if it happens I suppose I will roll with it like always. But key differences in what you are talking about is that John Elway was and still is a pretty sharp businessman outside of football. He also owned an arena league team for 6 years. Marino was only VP at Miami for the blink of an eye and not sure how much he is really involved at this point. Dickerson hasn't really done much of anything after football beyond a small memorabilia company and wagging his tongue. I simply don't see him as GM material. Now - taking on an advisory role and see how he does? Sure. We know he is passionate about the team. Giving him a job having to do with something he is passionate about? Maybe he takes it and runs with it - obvious pun unintended.

I'm not saying that former players couldn't do a good job or even that ED couldn't. I just don't see anything about his activities after his pro career that would indicate it.

Notes from the game last night

I heard the Designers that designed the New "Digs" designed it with THIS^ in mind!!:snicker::shades:
The fact that it will be dug into the ground 100 ft won't hurt. That noise will will have nowhere to escape, it will be like the "Pit" in New Mexico, LOUD. The roof thingy will help as well.
Only thing I worry about is if all the millionaires will be ready to make that noise.

Game Day Positivity Thread

really like the potential here
Yyes there is some skills that Goff may can utilize in 2017 like his HANDS. But there are some short comings here too little short, no length small catch radius (should not be an issue for a QB like Goff though) looses out when he is contested for balls by DB's, has Zero wiggle & has no agility in open field. The biggest thing is Cooper lacks any top end speed runs a consistent 40-yard dash: 4.63 seconds. Our MLB'er Tree has an easy 40 Yard Dash in 4.7 Secs

Yet still I like what I see did I mention his hands yet? (y).

The thing I don't understand this year

Boudreau is a real good teacher. I mean, real good. I've heard him speak about his craft a few times, and he oozes knowledge. Maybe he's not a good motivator or something, because I don't think this is a failure on his part. These guys *have to* know how to play the position, individually, but somehow they're not doing it together. Maybe they just need a new scheme and someone who can tap into their inner strength. I dunno. It's perplexing to say the least.
IMHO Scheme and play calling are 80% of the lines problem (mostly scheme). Talent on the line is there. There are only 2 or 3 teams in the NFL with elite OL talent across the board, most teams have 1 maybe two "good" players then plug the rest in with journeymen.

The General Manager Short List for 2017

I really like NIck Caserio of the Patriots for obvious reasons, but if the Rams hire Caserio you can bet that McDaniels or Matt Patricia will be the next Head Coach. Rams wanted to hire George Paton over Snead back in 2012, however, Paton decided to stay in Minnesota maybe because of the structure giving Fisher the final say over personnel.

Everybody has tried to get DeCosta from the Ravens, but DeCosta is very close to Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti and I just don't think he'll ever leave. In the end, IMO, I believe the Rams should have a new GM too because in this case the bath water is very dirty so go ahead and throw out the baby too.

Simmons: Friday Wrap-Up: Goff to Go Through Concussion Protocol

riday Wrap-Up: Goff to Go Through Concussion Protocol

By Myles Simmons

At his Friday press conference to wrap up Thursday’s 24-3 loss to the Seahawks, Rams interim head coach said rookie quarterback Jared Goff remains in the concussion protocol.

Goff took a hard hit from Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman on the sideline to finish a fourth-quarter scramble. Before he could enter the huddle on the next play, officials removed Goff from the field and the quarterback did not return.

“A medical timeout was initiated last night from upstairs by the NFL. They got him out of the game,” Fassel said. “He was assessed and he’s currently in the concussion protocol.”

“We saw him today, and he seemed sharp,” Fassel continued. “But he’ll go through the protocol over the next nine days.”

Fassel said he did have a chance to visit a bit with Goff on Friday.

“I went in there this morning and I saw him in the training room, when he was getting treatment,” Fassel said. “Obviously, a little bit banged up. But, like I said last night, just a really tough kid. And I think he was going for the touchdown. And without the experience of being a real runner, the defender got on him a lot faster than he anticipated.”

“From a special teams perspective, we prefer brawn, maybe, over brains. And I told Jared, from the quarterback perspective, brains have got to trump the brawn,” Fassel said. “But as a rookie quarterback, he’ll learn to know when to maximize his yardage, but then protect his body.”

Goff finished 13-of-25 passing for 135 yards. He was sacked four times and hit seven. Fassel said given his expertise, he stayed mostly to encouragement rather than quarterback coaching points when interacting with Goff during the game.

“Before the game we shared a good little conversation,” Fassel said. “And during the game, I didn’t feel like I should offer any input as far as performance. But I just said, ‘Hang tough, man.’ ‘Great throw.’ ‘C’mon, move the chains.’

In five starts, Goff has completed 54.7 percent of his passes for 879 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s been sacked 15 times, on 8.5 percent of his dropbacks.

“I’m excited to be involved just a little bit more and learn about the quarterback room just a little bit more, because I think we’ve got a really good quarterback,” Fassel said. “He’s tough. He’s talented. He moves in the pocket. So, it’ll be fun for me to witness him over the next two weeks get better.”

The Rams players will have the next two days off before getting back on the practice field Monday to begin preparation for the 49ers on Saturday, Christmas Eve. Given that, Fassel said Goff will have a couple extra days to go through the protocol, which will determine when he’s cleared to return to practice.

When we come back on Monday, we’re going to treat it like our normal week Tuesday,” Fassel said. “So he’ll get three more days to get treated and become assessed. And we’ll probably make a decision from there, where he’s at, how much he’ll be able to do in practice. And by then, we’ll probably have a better idea how close he’ll be to playing in the game.”

INJURY UPDATES

Fassel had a number of other injury updates to go through following Thursday’s game.

Early Thursday afternoon, the team announced it had placed running back Benny Cunningham and defensive end Robert Quinn on injured reserve. Cunningham has a neck sprain, and Quinn is dealing with a concussion.

“Basically a conservative decision with a couple weeks left and not really feeling like he’d be prepared to play the next couple weeks,” Fassel said of Quinn.

Cornerback Marqui Christian is also headed to IR with an ankle injury. Cornerback Mike Jordan is in the concussion protocol. Safety T.J. McDonald suffered a wrist sprain and is day-to-day. Wide receiver Bradley Marquez is also day-to-day after suffering a wrist sprain. And while wide receiver Kenny Britt suffered a shoulder stinger, he played through it and likely will continue to do so.

Hindsight, why Goff was picked over Wentz

Goff is the real deal. He wanted to score the TD, but did not look up the field to see that Sherman wanted to welcome him to the NFL.

That's a rookie mistake and a great lesson for Goff to learn.

With the remaining games on schedule, Goff will get a lot of reps and learning experience.

Next year when the game slows down for him and for the Rams to get some new OL (Center, LG and RG) plus receivers who know how to play football, Goff is going to tear up the league.

I'm already waiting for the two Seattle games next year when Goff returns the favor with interest.

Jared: "Welcome to my world, Dickie Boy!!!" :boxing::lifting::wabbit::double::shooting::seizure:

all i want for christmas

Wideouts need to help him out with a strong game for that to happen. Every QB is going to miss guys. But it's hard to get into a good flow when you get too much pressure and your wideouts drop big passes.

Imagine for a moment how big that pass would have been to Thomas had he reeled it in, and how it would have affected the rest of the game...

Bonsignore: Latest loss confirms it'll take more than switching QBs, coaches to reverse Rams' slide

Sorry to say, but I think we might be in a total rebuild mode. If you look at the OL (a given) then if you look at our DL outside of Donald most guys are getting up there in age. Are back ups at LB have not shown yet if they have any NFL game in them yet. Plus depends on new coach what will become of Baron? Secondary needs help through out the line up.
Our WRs are freakin garbage, dump gasoline on this group and light them up.
Our TE group keep the rookies and add a vet to the mix.

Basically only positions that can be left alone are: RBs, & Punter

Benny Cunningham and Robert Quinn placed on IR..

He just had back surgery this offseason.
Rob Quinn had the back surgery this time back in 2015, yes about a year ago. So there could be some hope that time of about 19 months later that back issue could be remarkable better. Problem is the back was not the issue this season. But a new list of new injuries this season....Shoulder, Chest, illness, Concussion & a overnight stay in the hospital for dehydration??? All of these injuries & mainly his second concussion sent him to the Injured Reserve.

So yes I could choose to just focus my attention & considerations on that 2015 back surgery & write that off as the reason for what we have seen this season but it would appear from the new list of 2016 injuries & issues & the fact that a head health issue not the back caused the Ram Org to shelve Rob Quinn since week 13, I should also remind myself that Rob Quinn has battled a bad knee & a bad hip previous to the 2015 season. So the injuries from 6 seasons have mounted on his body.

I might be smart to remind myself that this 2016 season Quinn turned in his poorness preforming season since being drafted. Should this listed injury "concussion" be looked at like the rest of the other players? Or is there something else of an issue? not be taken so lightly ? Maybe the fact that Rob Quinn has a brain tumor in his head. He has been playing with this since he was drafted.

The tumor, the size of a dime, has been at the base of his brain at least since it was first discovered during his senior season in high school in North Charleston, SC, in 2007. This tumor does cause him to have headaches from time to time, but he can have trouble with balance. This tumor, which was at the top of his spinal cavity, was preventing the fluid from flowing in and out of his brain like it should. It was building up and causing pressure on his brain, thus the headaches. Doctors operated, drilling two holes to drain the fluid, but leaving the dime-size tumor in his head:notsure:.

Best to consider all thing great & small.

How good is our roster ?

Defensive Roster is above average. Need to replenish the CB, DE and FS positions.

Offensive Roster is below average with below average Center and Guards. LTs are average. WRs below average.
QB average for now but will be above average next year. RB below average for now (needs new Center and OL to open the holes). TEs are average (Rams need to draft TEs who knows how to play football).

Overall, the Rams roster is average because of offensive deficiencies are pulling the team down.

Gurley instagram post before the game

We're talking about the same Hugh Jackson of the winless Browns, right? The guy who, in frustration, took off his headset, gave the playcalling to Pep Hamilton, and stopped communicating with the offense - and the QB - against the Bengals this year?
The same guy who was a quality OC for the Bengals the previous year's. Don't think any coach is winning with the Browns and losing brings frustration.
