Eagles @ Rams

If we go 3-1 in our next four (not easy but not impossible), this will be the game of the year. It's definitely getting flexed.

I expect Jared to surpass Carson in overall QB-ing effectiveness. Whether he manages to do it this season is another matter as Carson has had the head start in pro level preparedness at the collegiate level and last season. This should definitely make for some media noise: two hot young QBs on the rise and leading their respective teams to the post season. Will Carson be an irritatingly effective scrambling demon? Will Sammy, Robert, Cooper, Todd, Everett & Co. have Jared's back while he attempts to decimate the Eagles with his own aerial show? Will Johnny Hekker look to steal the spotlight with a brilliant fake punt/TD toss? Coming soon to the Coliseum in Week Fourteen! Be there or be square!

Sammy has 29 targets this year, not even in the top 100 in the NFL and 4th on the team, just 2 ahead of Tyler Higbee.

If he does nothing else he takes the other teams number one CB which leaves the other guys with more possibilities.

That's a positive. If he is only getting 29 targets in 7 games he must be getting lots of attention. I sure would like to see some video of how teams are defending Sammy. Even during the game they could put together 3-5 routes and show us what's going on. It's a big topic for all Rams fans. His best game came against the Whiners who as I understand it play one high safety. I hope they get things straighten out on the deep passes. Rams need to have a deep threat that actually gets the passes completed too and not just be a decoy.

Go Cyclones !!!

Mullen is pretty low on my list. He burned a lot of bridges on his way out, and I have some doubts about his recruiting ability.

Leach's name hasn't come up. I don't think either side is interested. I think Leach likes building bad programs and being a god to the fanbase because he can get them to 8-9 wins a year. I think Florida isn't looking to hire a guy with a controversial history (which is part of the reason why they aren't beating down Chip Kelly's door right now, but they should be).
Don’t know about Leach. He had Tech on the right track before he got railroaded.
Don’t think he can take State much further but maybe that’s good enough for him like you said. Off the radar, 8-9 wins a year.
Kelly is the guy.
Campbell to me just seems like another McElwein.

Anyone have any unique cat breeds?

That is a tough hand you were dealt. At least Tiger went out the easy way.

I think the kittens were a good move. They will make the new transition easier. I grew up with cats as the main pet. However when I got my first dog at around 23, I never went back to cats. Dustin was a full sized Shih Tzu. Not one of those frail little things people seem to like. He was around 20 lbs and a tough little hugger. The way he interacted and followed us around was too cool.

Last year my rescued Brittany Spaniel mix died. I am home a lot and my wife insisted on a new dog. She hates being without one. She ended up getting two. She thought it would be better for me to have some company during the day. I think she was right. We have two mini Aussies. Very devoted and protective dogs.

As for cats, I have always thought the little short eared Japanese cats were adorable. I don't know the name of the breed. My daughter wants a kitten but somewhere through the years I developed a cat allergy and can't be around them for more than fifteen minutes before I start itching.

The elephant in the room or on the field..

Jarred Goff is in his first year under McVay and his offense. He is light years ahead of where he was last year already. He is grasping the offense and making it work. Halfway through the season he is making calls at the line with ease. He said, he is seeing things before they happen and gets excited when he knows they have the right play called before the snap. Goff is the real thing. This is basically his first year and look at what he has been able to learn, process and use effectively.

There will be more playbook to open as time goes by. He has shown that he can make the throws. I don't think there is any reason to believe that he has reached his ceiling after 7 games. He will keep getting better over the next several years. There is no way that his progress just stops.

Opposing coaches already know McVay's offense btw. He ran it at Washington. He isn't catching anyone by surprise with an unknown scheme.

Rams in Clubhouse: "Ready for The Back 9"

Great job as always Florida. Really enjoyed this.

There are other solid pieces to the coaching staff that makes this team click. Offensive line coach Aron Kromer, offensive coordinator Matt LeFleur and QB coach Greg Olson. Even under the radar additions like Aubrey Pleasant and Ejiro Evero handling the secondary along with various other competent assistants completes a very strong 2017 coaching staff. Not to be overlooked strength and conditioning coach Ted Rath and athletic trainer Reggie Scott and the importance that they've been to the team
The coaching staff McVay hired is absolutely incredible. The fact that he didn't hire a bunch of Minnion Followers has made this team an exciting force to watch. I love the fact that McVay has been very open about wanting to surround himself with experience. Many people, are intimidated to have guys working under them that may know more.
These guys deserve just as much credit as McVay has been getting.
Is McVay a genius? IDK
Is he a great Football Coach? The writing is on the wall, with a resounding YES!

Like the immense pressure on a pro golfer high up the leader board facing the back 9 holes in the final round of a PGA championship, this Rams team will need to show they can remain poised when the pressure mounts and adversity punches them in the gut. They will have to battle their way out of any sand traps, bunkers and thick rough on their quest to return to the NFL's 12 team playoff tournament.
We can't have anymore games like Seattle. handing the ball over in Seattle territory 3 times was gut wrenching. We're going to make mistakes....and that's ok. Lets not hand the game over on a silver platter to a division foe again.
Many here also remember 1995, when we started off something like 5-1, only to tank the rest of the season., but this feels much different. It's impossible for me to wane my excitement for the present and future of this team. I firmly believe we have finally turned the corner.

(Game 10) AT Minnesota current record 6-2.

The Vikings defense is among the leagues best & Keenum, Sam or Teddy can be efficient.
I want this game in a bad way. Last year ( I believe it was this game) we went for 2(which we didn't make) instead of kicking the extra point after a TD. Game goes to overtime and we Lose. In addition, a close friend of mine is a MINNY fan and I want revenge.

Wentz has been a beast in his 2nd season. A legit MVP candidate & the Eagles are flying high with their defense.
As of now, this is a game many are waiting to see. I really want to knock these guys off their perch.

Higbee or Everett?

Man, are getting picky? Both these guys have room to grow and the Rams have historically SUCKED at Tight End. I don't know if there has ever been a TE that played for the Rams in it's history that received a 1000 + yards. I remember Roland Williams being an ok TE during GSOT, but I think he might have had a 700 yard year or so....Everret is the guy I have the highest hopes for....

Grandpa McVay: “He’s made me a liar already"

3 years to turn it around? this mcvay guy knew absolutely nothing about the rams.

I must not know much about the Rams either because that's what I figured as well.

Cal QB Jared Goff: I Wear 16 for Joe Montana
Andrew Pentis/Apr 9, 2014

A man tried sneaking into a Cal football practice last year until a member of the athletic program stopped him in his tracks.

“‘Can I help you?’” the official recalled asking the man. “His back was turned to me.”

And then Joe Montana turned around.

The San Francisco 49ers Hall of Famer was in Berkeley to visit a family friend on the squad, but he hasn’t yet met the Golden Bears starting quarterback.

Jared Goff would like nothing more.

With Goff and the Pac-12 school set to “host” Oregon in the first college football game to be played at Levi’s® Stadium on Oct. 24 (and tickets are still on sale), 49ers.com caught up with the sophomore signal-caller to discuss his fandom of the team, his admiration for Montana and his own NFL aspirations.

How long have you been a fan of the 49ers?
My whole life. I grew up watching them. The Jeff Garcia days are the days I remember, with Garrison Hearst, a little bit of the end of Jerry Rice’s career. And their recent success has been pretty exciting. I was heartbroken when they lost in the NFC Championship game to the Seahawks, but I’m excited for the future.

Did you go to many games at Candlestick Park over the years?
We didn’t have season tickets, but we went to some. I went to the final game at Candlestick this past year. That was a really cool experience. I hadn’t been to a game in a while – I was busy with our season – and to get to go that was awesome.

For NaVorro Bowman to get that pick at the end was pretty awesome. I just remember Jim Harbaugh running down the sideline pulling his headset off. And season-ticket holders around us were crying – it was intense.

As a fan, what do you make of the team’s switch from The ‘Stick to Levi’s®?
Candlestick has a cool historical background, but Levi’s® will bring a modern feel to the team. I found out this offseason that we’ll get to play there. It’s exciting to get to play in an NFL stadium.

Have you played in one before?
I played at the Coliseum (in Oakland) as a junior in a high school championship game. I’m assuming the sideline will be a little bigger.

So tell us why you wear No. 16 in honor of the 49ers No. 16?
When I was little, for my fourth or fifth birthday, my dad got me a Joe Montana jersey. I didn’t know who Joe was, but when I started playing football we had our number choices and 16 was available. That’s when I was 7 years old. The next year, I wore 16 again. I’ve worn it my whole life.

But you wore No. 9 for spring practices last season – why?
We had a player on the roster that was wearing 16, but he transferred a few months later. So when he transferred, I jumped on it.

Now that you’re older, do you still look up to Montana?
I’ve got some signed memorabilia from him in my room, and I see clips from back of the day. I like to watch guys that are good at the position and take stuff from their game. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, all those guys as well as Joe Montana.

What about Montana’s game do you try to incorporate into your own?
He was deadly accurate, and I try to be. Another thing was his presence on the field. I try to emulate that, too.

Have you met him?
He came to a couple practices last year, but I’ve never met him. If I could ask him anything, I’d ask him to tell me stories or offer some little tips on playing the position. It’d be more cool just to be in his vicinity.

What do you make of Colin Kaepernick’s style of play at the position?
Colin’s a really good quarterback as well, plays the game differently than I do. He’s fast, and I’m trying to work on speed. There’s footwork drills I do for that. I was actually just talking with our running backs coach about ways I can get faster. I’m not ever going to be a blazer like Kaepernick is, but I’ll be able to get better.

Speaking of improvement, where have you made the most gains since your 18-touchdown, 10-interception campaign in 2013?
I feel like I’ve improved the most since the Stanford game with my feel for the game, my feel for the college level. It’s no longer, “I’m the young guy out there, and I’m trying to catch up.” It’s like, “I’m in charge, and I’m leading the offense.” So far this spring, I can tell how much more comfortable I feel than I did last fall.

As a team, you went 1-11 last season. What’s going to help change the results in 2014?
The experience is going to be a huge factor. Everyone is returning on offense, all the key playmakers. We’re going to have some weapons at my disposal. It’s really nice to have that kind of camaraderie after going through what we went through last year.

Beyond this season and the next couple, do you hope to one day join the likes of Kaepernick in the NFL?
That’s the main goal at the end of the day. Right now, I’m thinking about winning games and getting better, but that’s definitely a long-term goal down the line.

Will Oct. 24 be a good test for you along the way?
It’s going to be more NFL-like given the atmosphere and that Oregon is a great team. We’re going to compete really well and hopefully come out with a “W.”

PFF: NFL win predictions for all 32 teams over the rest of the season

The only way to really deal with Strength of Schedule is to use each team's record AT THE TIME of the game.

I mean if a team is 0-4 and playing lousy, that's different from a 5-6 team that's won 5 of its last six games.

First game doesn't factor, of course, so week 2 only factors in the week 1 schedule for the opposing team. AT NO POINT should any subsequent wins or losses factor in. If that team reels off 14 straight after losing two in a row, that has nothing to do with those first two games. In week three, you have the week 1 record for the second opponent and the weeks 1 and 2 record for the third opponent. And so on. Only in the last week of the season will the last opponent be judged on the 15 prior games.

That's the only fair way to do it. It takes into account beating tough teams that fall off due to injury and it doesn't give a false impression for a better win because a team got things figured out or got healthy later after a team has played them.

Hopefully, I'm being clear because the detailed explanation, while easier to understand, just takes a lot of words to be explicitly clear.
