Rams On Demand Full 7 rd mock draft results

A year later almost here was my Rams draft review

2nd. Evan Engram, TE (Ole Miss) - Had a very good year and broke some rookie TE records for the Giants. He will be causing defenses headaches for years. Needs to cleanup the drops but I see him as a all pro TE down the line. Good pick.

3rd. Ahkello Witherspoon, CB (Colorado)- Didnt play much the beginning of the year but shined towards the end of the season for the whiners. Probably will be starting opposite of Sherman this year. Still believe he will be a very good CB.

4th. Chad Hansen, WR (Cal)- Wasnt much of a factor and needs more development. Also needs a better QB. WRs develop slow so hes too incomplete to rate yet.

5th. Jon Toth, C (Kentucky)- Injuries were too much, isnt even on a roster ouch. Whiffed on this one lol. Bad pick.

5th. Ejuan Price, OLB (Pittsburgh)- I took him earlier then he actually went, thought he would have more impact for the Rams but really did nothing. Still on the roster so we will see this year if he breaks into the rotation.

6th. Dieugot Joseph, OT (Florida Int.)- Cut a few times and ended up on the Vikings practice squad. Probably wont amount to much.

6th. Jamaal Williams, RB (BYU)- Showed pretty well for the Packers when he finally got his chance. I think hes their best RB and will have a chance to be the guy this season. Very good value pick for how late I got him.

7th. Josh Malone, WR (Tennessee)- Buried on the Bengals depth chart. Didnt do much but did catch a TD pass. Like I said with Hansen above, WRs are always the slowest to develop so hes incomplete.

Les Snead appreciation thread!

I'm sure he has a serviceable understanding, no question. But so did JZ.

Would you expect a guy who has been a HC for years to ubnderstand all of the details of the zillions of cap rules? He may kinda know some stuff but not enough to work a contract.
Um.... neither JZ nor Shaw had any football experience before coming to the Rams. Zero, zip, nada. Trying to make a comparison to that clown show is really being disengenuous as I know you couldn’t stand that duo either.

No I wouldn’t expect that of a head coach. But I also wouldn’t expect that of most team presidents either. We are talking specifically about KD. He actually does know football and has lived and breathed it his entire life. I suspect he has a pretty good handle on who is who in football circles.

Preston Brown anyone?

I'm not worried. I don't think McVay and Wade are either. Barron, Joyner and Johnson are all very good in coverage. We're also stacked at corner once we re sign NRC.

Opposing teams can only have five receivers, I think we have that covered with our personnel. In a worse case scenario you drop an ILB to play center field. If he's a tackling machine, I am truly not concerned.

I think both ILBer have to be able to cover. Both Tree and Barron where in man coverage at the same time.

I woke up and no big trade?

Yea something isn't right. It's been quiet for too long.

Maybe the other 31 General Managers have blocked Snead on their cell phones.

There is a Rumor that Rams GM Les Snead has been calling several NFL GM's 20 to 30 times a day and many calls have been made between the hours of 12 am & 4 am.

These GM's are too tired to make sense of what the hell Les is offering and he's constantly talking over them telling them how much better their teams will be if they just listen to what he has to say.

GM's are getting sick of Les blowing up their phones and disrupting their sleep. More than 20 general managers have admitted to blocking Snead on their cell phones.

Dominique Easley shares video of himself running at Rams facility

One of the saddest things that I have ever seen since I have become a pro-football fan is that there are people out their who have immense football talent. I'm talking about strength, reflexes, speed, intelligence and lack a football body. A body that just does not hold up to the rigors of football. It's hard to see see these guys break down, but it happens.

Jrry32 Post-Combine Mock Draft

Love the picks.

I'd rather have Blythe than give long term money to a guy who's missed an entire year due to concussion. Even if he's playing at an All-Pro level, one hit and he's done...forever.

If the contract were structured with very little guaranteed, I'd be okay with it, but he's gonna get guarnteed money from the Jets, so I'd rather stick with Sully and Blythe.

Still great mock... except you didn't figure how we get Shaquem Griffin, so 5 demerits...

Combine ; Linebackers running the 40

I seriously wonder if Shaquem Griffin would be our guy at #23.

He's crazy fast at sub-4.4 speed. He's a tackling machine and his attitude is as good as it gets.

I know he's not a thumper, but especially if we let Barron go, I wouldn't be upset with that at all.

I'd rather trade down and maybe still get him late 1st, early 2nd, but he's on a rocket up the draft boards and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he makes it into the first round or early second.

Bonsignore: Aggressive Rams acting like team that knows it's on cusp of Super Bowl

The Rams Are Already Winning the 2018 Offseason
With free agency still to come, Los Angeles has bolstered its defense, unloaded bad contracts, and turned itself into a bona fide contender

Rams Added: CB Marcus Peters, CB Aqib Talib, CB Sam Shields, Giants’ 2018 fourth-round pick, Giants’ 2018 sixth-round pick, unknown Dolphins mid-round pick, Chiefs’ 2018 sixth-round pick

Rams Lost: DE Robert Quinn, ILB Alec Ogletree, 2018 fourth-round pick, 2018 fifth-round draft pick, 2018 seventh-round pick, 2019 second-round pick, 2019 seventh-round pick

My goodness, this defense is going to force so many turnovers.

While the locker room may be more colorful this year, pairing Peters and Talib under Wade Phillips seems like a worthy gamble. Phillips’s scheme helped win the Broncos a Super Bowl after the 2015 season, and Talib made the Pro Bowl each year under Phillips in Denver, including first-team All-Pro in 2016.

The only defensive coordinator in football who is better at putting his defenders in position to make plays is Bill Belichick, which might be why Talib reportedly limited his trade destinations to Los Angeles and New England.

Phillips’s scheme forces quarterbacks to get the ball out quickly, evidenced by Aaron Donald’s league-leading 91 pressures last season, which creates opportunities for defenders to jump routes. Now, Phillips has two of the best ball-hawking corners in football to integrate into that game plan, and that’s before considering the team added Shields, who hasn’t played since suffering his fourth diagnosed concussion in Week 1 of 2016.

Unlike Quinn and Ogletree, who had big price tags but skill sets that didn’t dovetail with Phillips’s game plan, Peters and Talib complement what Donald and Michael Brockers do on the defensive line.

Together, the sky is the limit for this defense. Literally. Teams won’t be able to throw on these guys.

L.A. Might Not Be Done Yet
The modern blueprint for an NFL contender is a core of high-level players on rookie contracts that allows a GM to use extra cap space to plug holes elsewhere on the roster. Donald and Gurley, the defensive and offensive players of the year last season, have a combined cap hit of $11.3 million. Jared Goff takes up just $7.6 million of the cap this year.

The Rams front office understands those bargains give them the flexibility to compete now. Los Angeles led the league in points scored in 2017, but the team is betting that defense wins championships. It’s an old-school move for one of the youngest teams in the league.

The Rams seem to have gone all in for a Super Bowl run, but they’ve managed to keep some of their resources. While L.A. lost its next two second-round picks in trades for Sammy Watkins and Peters, flipping Quinn and Ogletree both replenished the team’s draft stock and improved its cap situation in anticipation of a record-breaking Aaron Donald megadeal. With free agency and the draft still to come, the Rams still have plenty of chips left to play with.

Rams release Dunbar

I'd Love to see Sherman play a uno year as a Ram and retire. He is a Socal boy I respect that...

Won't happen just like Suh won't happen.

Sherman didn't want to take a pay cut which means he still sees himself as a prime CB.

Sherman isn't a slot corner. Neither are Peters or Talib. So, they'd rotate? With those big personalities? Not gonna happen.

Sherman also isn't likely to be ready for OTAs or even Training Camp. I can see him being a FA all the way until the season starts due to his rehab. He might play this year, but I am almost certain he's not going to play starting game 1.

Similar to Suh. He's likely to be cut because his cap hit is too high.

He may re-sign with the Dolphins (or they may just eat the cap hit), but if not, he's going to expect another big payday. There's almost no chance that he takes a 1 year prove it deal (in his case, proving that he isn't a full-on knucklehead). If that were the case, teams like the Rams or Patriots would be potential landing spots for just a year... same as Nick Fairley, actually.

Snead went a little crazy, that's true.

But even as wild as it got, it's beyond wild that some of these other guys would even be available.

There's zero chance we land Sherman.

Suh isn't zero, but it's close enough that it's essentially zero.
