Rams @ Aints Our statement game!!!

What was the constant? Cooper kupp wasn't on the field.

Bill parcells and Kurt Warner used to say it plenty. They wanted the d to blitz. You beat the blitz, you can make a ton of yards. Goff must get into the same mindset and with kupp on the field he will beat the blitz.

.

Id say it was a touch more than Kupp not being on the field. I definitely agree that he was a big time miss, but when I personally step back and take a look at it, you still have good separating receivers in Cooks and Woods. The Packers defense was and still is ranked very high against the pass, which made it even easier for them to blitz more. The fact though is that our OLine struggled against it last week; period. It wasn't the same as Denver where you had two elite pass rushers on the outside and a good secondary, no, it was the fact that the Rams struggled against the blitz. The Packers played press coverage and sent more guys than we could block.

Sam Shields... in his own words...

Shields apparently won't play in the Saints game. He will be traveling with the team but not playing according to McVay.

CB Sam Shields (illness) is listed as questionable and makes up the entire Rams injury report.

When I first saw this report I couldn’t help but wonder if there was some strategy at play here. I.e.... make us look vulnerable to the pass, so we could set the pass rush free.

Not to mention, an “illness” is really easy to suddenly get better on game day.

/ end of conspiracy theory /

I think Brockers is my favorite Rams player

Requesting interview with Saffold to see if he thinks they can win as many games with Spags+Fisher @ 16 games a piece vs McVay in 16 games.(each coach gets to use current roster)Space

Not gonna lie, would take both Spags or Fisher as DC once Son of Bum flies away.

I think Brokers has under achieved throughout his career - he's nowhere near Fletcher Cox, who was taken just 2 spots ahead of him in '12, yet still has been a top 10 DT for past 4 years --- working along side Quinn and Donald throughout definitely made/makes things easier.

TNF: Raiders at 49’ers

How does word get around? I doubt Gruden's dumb enough to be like "ok dudes we're gonna tank this game." I think it happens more than people realize, and probably is quite subtle. Chalk up a lesser gameplan in this league and you can easily suffer the kind of butt whoopin they just got from the whiners, particularly when you know Shanny is outstanding at the tactical side of things.

This league is so competitive it doesn't take much.

Also re: Gruden liking vets, that doesn't mean he doesn't recognize the requirement of good drafting. And when you take over the oldest team in the league who also happens to be a losing roster, it's inevitable.
If that's what Gruden is doing it's going to blow up in his face. His record shows he's a below average coach. We will see how his plan works our in the future.

Saints/Vikings review

Another note too, the Vikings defense was banged up. Joseph, Sendejo, Barr and Rhodes were all on the injury report last week as questionable or worse! I think the Rams' defense will put up more of a fight than Minnesota.

@Elmgrovegnome while I don't disagree the turnovers helped put the Saints in good field position, I think their D deserves a little credit for forcing those mistakes. I hope McVay and Co is going to stress ball security and to take what's given during this week of practice.

Theilen’s fumble looked to be more of a ball security issue.

The 4th and 1 stop, well yeah that was by the Saints defense but for some reason Payton called a pass play that was taking too long to develop for a quick attempt.

The int was caused from pressure however Cousins should have just ate it, or three it away.

So yes and no.

Week 9 Coverage Maps

This reminds me of when I was a boy and the Rams were often playing on my TV as the late game, even in southeast Missouri. They had cool uniforms and the players would often make cameo appearances on the TV shows, etc. (Hollywood glitz, I guess). I remember watching Gabriel, Snow, Merlin, Deacon, et. al. playing on the tube. I wouldn't say I became a Rams fan at that time, but they were one of my favorite teams to watch (along with the Cowboys, Redskins, Vikings and Cardinals - I know - booo). I was cheering for them in the SB vs the Steelers. I had always liked the Rams and was happy when they moved to STL and sad when they left. I hold that against Kroenke and Demoff for being deceptive and underhanded to the fans and shitting on STL when they left, which was totally unnecessary. But I didn't, and don't, hold it against the Rams players, coaches and the rest of the FO.

Week 9 power rankings

https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2018/11/2/18054850/nfl-midseason-power-rankings

1. Los Angeles Rams (8-0)

The undefeated Rams aren’t flawless. Their cornerbacks struggled against Aaron Rodgers last Sunday, and concerns about the secondary’s ability to stop the pass persist. But this is still the strongest team in the league. Coach Sean McVay has designed the most fascinating offense in the NFL; Todd Gurley is on pace for more than 2,300 yards from scrimmage and 30 touchdowns; and with Jared Goff ripping through defenses using play-action passes, the team’s trio of receivers is just too much to handle.

There may be holes in the defense, but Aaron Donald does a lot to make up for those ills. With 10 sacks through eight games, he’s the most dominant defender in football, and his ability to change an entire game with one or two plays elevates that entire unit. The Rams’ trade for pass rusher Dante Fowler Jr. is one last-ditch effort to help their pass defense, and just the latest reminder that this team is all the way in.

I dunno if this is a reasonable request, but...

There we go guys.

It's totally acceptable to question a rating.

Does it work for the common rabble around here? I thought that was just something we could do. Man... I feel so less privileged now. :(

I think a bunch of guys gave others chills and different opinions in this thread out of jest - I know I did. Let's just not carry it to other threads.

McVay versus Shanahan

I wanted Shanahan. His offense in Atlanta was very impressive.

Yeah it did impress..........with a top notch QB and GM putting talent on the roster.

Re: CoY you can't keep giving it to the same dude. Which is why Belichick gets overlooked almost every year as it becomes ho-hum oh look the Rams are good again.

If the Bears make the playoffs I think it will be Nagy.

In the AFC Anthony Lynn as he has turned the Chargers around and Andy Reid should get consideration too. Maybe he could be considered the frontrunner halfway through.

@Ken I was thinking the same thing about Gruden if the Redskins make the playoffs, I hadn't thought of Nagy. McVay would only get it if the Rams went 16-0 or 15-1.

Carroll hasn't beaten anyone that doesn't suck, so color me unimpressed.......so far anyway @Merlin and fuck him anyway. If he wins it I will puke.
