Rams-Eagles Game report from the Coliseum (long)

The ratio of population to available stadium seating is much higher than most locales. Add to that the fact much of that large population is transient. So, when each team's fans see their team visiting on the calendar, there's a larger ratio of them than in most cities to fill a standard-capacity stadium.

Not much we can do about that, but hopefully the Rams increasing popularity will gradually squeeze out a lot of non-Rams fans.

Why can’t we generate any pressure?

I don't know....I see things through Rams colored glasses. Obviously the running back gashes are due to LB's total undisciplined gap technique. Littleton looks like Ogletree sometimes....even Laurinaitis missed his gaps. People are wishing Quinn was back, but he played 60% of his time in LA due to injury/illness. I agree, he was very effective but he also had some bad, undisciplined games as well. Peters has been much better since the NO game. Who knows why Talib took a left to Inglewood on the one long pass. Opponents schemes of quick releases and then having options against the Cover 2 leaves open zones between the LB's and DB's. QB's read how the coverage reacts and then finds either the deep route or the soft zone opening. Now, we have played probably one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. Didn't get the bye until after week 12 (unheard of for us before). I'm not trying to make more excuses, but every "elite" team is going through a very tough stretch right now. Suh has been getting big pressure, he knocked Foles around. Fowler is getting better each week. As I mentioned, I think Peters athleticism will continue to benefit the D come playoff time. The stupid unforced errors (false starts) and weakened offensive line play are just as much of an issue as the defense. Now, can Kelly and CJ do enough to help Goff over the next 2 weeks? Only time will tell.

Is it time to hold Wade accountable?

All year long I've been hearing how this defense is "going to turn the corner when this happens.......or if that occurs........just wait, you'll see...."

Well now here we are on the verge of the playoffs and these delusions of hopefulness have yet to materialize.

Even if a miraculous playoff run develops, I'd expect McVay to initiate wholesale changes on the defensive coaching staff and players.

McVay is not one of those "my guys are good enough so you can just shut up as they are not going anywhere" coaches, like Mr 7 and 9 BS.

Instead, thankfully, he is from the ""you'll get the job done at the highest level, or you'll get lost" coaching tree.

Jared Goff Mic’d up vs Eagles

Found it interesting all the mentions of "taking what the Eagles were giving"....both Goff and McVay. Unfortunately it didn't always seem to translate onto the field. Nonetheless, it goes to show they aren't blind to it, they know what the heck they want/need to do, and it's more about resetting and being disciplined starting this Sunday with the Cardinals.

My concern is that there's more to the TG III "knee inflammation" than we know. In years gone by "scar tissue" was often cited as causing this and that it needed to be cleaned up. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets scoped in the off-season.

Could the Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl window already be closing?

So, you want blame? You think most of the moves were window dressing, just to make a splash? Not a lot of thought given to whether these guys can actually play anymore (or play in the current systems)?

I've been pretty clear that I'm just trying to make sure we're keeping more than Wade in the conversation when it comes to the blame game. So it's not that I want to lay blame, but rather and for the millionth time, I am tired of seeing Wade take all the flak.

As to thought being given to whether these guys can play... I think the Rams knew they were rolling the dice with Peters, but figured with Talib back there and a strong locker room he'd fall in line. I think they knew they were rolling the dice with Suh, who hadn't played well in Miami, but projected him to do well. I think they knew Barron came with a big cap hit so tried to just get him to engage so they could get one good year from him. And with Joyner I think they projected he'd improve in year two not regress.

In FA you win some lose some. But when you lose just about all your key decisions on defense it makes me think they put too much faith in Wade's ability to maximize guys. He gives you more leeway with dumb players, and with iffy locker room types. But if your final roster has too many question marks there's a good chance they're not all going to work out. And in our case most of them didn't which sucks but again it's not something that should be 100% on the staff even though that is what ends up happening.

Lastly irt Kroenke... I don't know what his involvement was in the moves. He approved them and trusted his organization to make good moves, certainly. But you can't fire an owner. And for the most part stacking a roster is not his primary duty. So if I'm Stan what I am going to want to know at end of season is what went wrong and how are we going to prevent it from happening again.

@Selassie Edition

OK. So the "real people" part of this question is in honor of @Selassie I 's extremely limited view of kickers. :ROFLMAO:

So that you know, I took this and ran with it. I figured the real determination would be - is that all the guy did? So with that I figured I had to accept players that played other positions or were listed at another position.

With that I give you real person Bob Waterfield. Not only was Bob a college All American QB at UCLA, he was also the starting QB for the Rams for 57 games from 1945 to 1952 - finishing his career with 97 TDs and a whopping 128 INTs. But it didn't stop there. Mr. Waterfield ran for 13 TDs, kicked FGs, shared punting duties, and also played DB for the Rams his first four seasons tallying 20 career INTs.

Clearly - this man was a "real person" by any definition - including that dude listed above.

So here's to the members that got this one right cuz most of you got it wrong.
To everyone else, thanks for playing and you need to step up your game because the next one is a real doozy. :ROFLMAO:

Something Happened to Goff during Bye

It’s funny, Brees has struggled over the last 3 weeks as well. He has 2 TDS and 3 INTS. Granted Goff’s numbers are worse, but the difference is the Saints won their close games and Rams lost theirs. If the saints had dropped 2 of the last 3 would the narrative be the same? Just a thought.

If you follow baseball, you know that a really good hitter will sometimes go into a slump. The only way to come out of a slump is to keep swinging the bat. I think Goff is in a quarterback slump right now. He has to keep dropping back and throwing the ball to work his way out of it. He's got two games to get back to normal.

How Rams' Aaron Donald Is Redefining the Defensive Tackle Position in the NFL

James Conner shares inspirational text from Aaron Donald after cancer diagnosis
By: Cameron DaSilva

Aaron Donald and James Conner were both named to the 2019 Pro Bowl on Tuesday night, and while they may not seem connected on the surface, their friendship goes back to their days at the University of Pittsburgh. The two played for the Panthers in 2013 when Conner was a freshman before Donald left for the NFL in 2014.

Conner was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in December 2015, and now that he’s battled back to not only beat cancer, but thrive in the NFL, he shared an inspirational text message Donald sent him after his diagnosis.

We Should Sign Sam Bradford

Keep Mannion as QB3 then. All I know is I don't trust him to lead this team if Goff is hurt.
I was posting about the need for a proven backup QB this past offseason.
Fitzpatrick is the guy I suggested and got lambasted for it.
The drop off from a solid vet backup to a guy who is a question mark is massive in most cases.
I don't see the Rams spending money on the backup QB spot however.
Too many other issues.

Predict the score..week 15 Eagles @ Rams

again with the only pick against the Rams, Bonifay is the winner I will settle up with you soon.

@flv... I believe I have to settle up with you from the Bears game...apologies mate, was on holiday
I'm pretty sure you've paid me twice. I won in Week 13 but I definitely didn't win again after that. I'll pay the $10K back into the system through The Adjustments Bureau in the Sportsbook.

Last play

IMHO, the second-to-last play was the play of the game.

Love Gurley of course, but that was a potentially game-losing mistake.

If Gurley goes out of bounds with 20 seconds left, we could have had 3 (possibly even 4) plays from the 20 yard line. Instead, we had to settle for one last- gasp play from the 18.

Plenty of blame to go around, but the normally/-savvy Gurley made a huge blunder there. Knowing Gurley, he’ll learn from it (as he did from the Seahawks debacle at the pylon— now Gurley keeps a death grip on the ball near the pylon)

Mike Shanahan to the Broncos?

I always loved former Rams Owner and Hall of Fame member Dan Reeves quote about George Allen.... "I had more fun losing with Harland Svare, then I ever did winning with George Allen." Funny!
s-l300.jpg
Wow!! Now that's a classic! Heh, how about the one by Allen's former owner when he was the coach of the Washington Redskins, He said, "When he first came here I gave George an unlimited budget, and he exceeded it...."
I think the owner's name was Edward Bennett Williams. At any rate good stuff, huh?

Sidenote on Harland Svare: The first year I can remember following our beloved Rams was his last as coach. I believe he won one game and he was mercifully fired. George Allen came in and the rest is history.
