Madden Curse

No this isn't the Madden curse you normally hear of, where the cover athlete gets injured or has a bad year. This one is more anecdotal, and directly affects the Rams.

See, since 2004 I have bought Madden every year. Every year I go and start a season and take the Rams to the virtual superbowl. I played with features like Hit Sticks, Truck Sticks, Truck Stick 2.0, Group Tackling, & QB Vision Cone. Every year, IRL the rams failed the season. Often failing miserably. But digitally, Steven Jackson, Tye Hill, Sam Bradford, Chris Long, Lauranauitis, james laurinaitis, and co broke many records and became enshrined in the HoF of my playstation.

Fast forward to 2017, I'm an adult and a new father, I don't really have time (or the money) to spend on Madden right when it releases. However, I enjoyed my real life Rams having a great season and finally get to the playoffs! Out of pure excitement, I buy Madden 18 and simulate a Rams Superbowl win in Superbowl 52! Then I watch us go 1 and done in the playoffs.

This year, life has made me crazy busy so I still have not purchases the new Madden game, similar to last year. But now I'm skeptical, perhaps it's a curse. Perhaps I should wait until after the Superbowl to buy the game. But I'm really itching to play it now.
Address please. You must atone for your sins for cursing these last 14 years or so!

What's on your menu? NFC Championship Menu GDT.

How's it going Dags.

I am oddly enough doing Fondue. And no I'm not gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that of course. I have chucks of sirloin, sockeye salmon, and Ahi, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, avocado, apple, mango, baquette, and a spiced beef broth I made.

One of the things my wife and I like about this is that we can put the pot right on the table in front of the TV and graze without missing a play. Oh... and it's healthy and tasty.

But not to worry. To offset this healthy stuff, I will have my smoker going from about half time on. I have thinly sliced strips of tri-tip marinating three different ways along with some steaks marinating in my teriyaki sauce. The three jerky marinades are my steak seasoning, a ginger brown sugar mix, and a brown sugar/scorpion chili blend that is going to be insanely hot.

I haven't decided on beverage yet. I may just go for beer. I have some Pacifico, Laguinitas IPA, Bear Republic Racer X, and of course a full bar so.... Looks like a game time decision. Right now I'm drinking a Bebida de Sabila aloe vera drink. I'm going to guess it's not really as healthy as it may sound but it's pretty tasty.

Hola my friend. Hope all is well. That is a damn good idea of having the pot on the table. I should try that with the 3 section crock pot buffet I have. But alas, I'm afraid Mojo the cat would want his share by jumping up. lolol. Sounds like you have quite the spread going on all day. That's what I love about football. Football, beer/booze, and food. > Great to be an American. See ya in the victory thread.

I don't post much anymore......

Lately, I don't post much anymore on Rams message boards or forums. Most of you are wicked smart and don't need my two cents added to the pot .

I still read this forum everyday and I enjoy all of the different perceptions and opinions. (even the ones I don't concur with.)

Balance and none homer views are wise and well respected from my own point of view. If everyone of the so called NFL media experts and fans picked the Rams to win, It wouldn't have any merit imo.

I could end up being wrong because the NFL is never a sure thing no matter how much talent, momentum or how good a teams record is.

I'm as nervous and excited as anyone of you educated, intelligent, witty Rams fans are.

I hope I get to post on the celebration thread tomorrow. :yess:

SLACKER

Will Aaron Donald

play like he wants to be known as a “legend” on the football field or just another very good player?

Let’s face it....Aaron Donald is the most talented football player on the field today-period. However, he hasn’t really shown up in the Rams biggest games over the past couple of years.

Growing up I saw a lot of game changing players and on the defensive side of the ball, 3 players always stood out to me. Lawrence Taylor, Deion Sanders and Ray Lewis. Obviously there are many great players but for me these 3 always stood out because as great as they were season to season they were even better when the stakes were higher.

The bigger the game the bigger the impact these 3 had, which led to huge success for their respective franchises.

Just like these three, Aaron is the most talented guy on the field. To me, these are the type games where you earn that aura of being a “legendary “ player. These are the games where Aaron needs to step up and make a huge impact on the defensive side of the ball to lead his team to victory.

Legendary players find a way to make an impact even when the other team is pulling out all the stops to stop them. I hope Aaron is up to the challenge today.

Go Rams!!

Marcus Peters since Week 9...

I think there was concerted effort on the part of AD, Suh and the boys to stop the run, I mean stop the run to the extent of foregoing some pressure. I see more of the same this week albeit D Brees is another animal. I think last week was one of the smarter games AD has played he realized that pressure was less important than position. That in itself is a lot of what helped Suh to play great. AD getting sacks and getting in the backfield is great, fun to watch and almost always effective but it can leave a hole to run through and he played so smart last week. I don't think it will be the same but every time something works you learn something.
