C.J. Anderson looking to beat Patriots in postseason for 3rd time

Unlike the New England Patriots, the Los Angeles Rams don’t have much experience in the Super Bowl. Tom Brady has more appearances in the big game by himself than the Rams do as a team, which shows just how dominant he’s been for the Patriots.

One player who has played in the Super Bowl before is C.J. Anderson. He’s made two trips to the championship, both coming with the Broncos. He lost one to the Seahawks and won the other over Cam Newton’s Panthers, but both times, he had to go through the same team to get there: the Patriots.

Anderson and the Broncos beat the Patriots in the 2014 and 2016 AFC championship games, both taking place in Denver. Anderson didn’t play in the first matchup, but he had 72 yards in the 2016 title game, helping lead the Broncos to the Super Bowl.

He’s ready for yet another showdown with the Patriots, this time for a Lombardi Trophy instead of just the right to play for one.

“I’ve always played them for something significant, whether that’s No. 1 seed when I was in Denver or a trip to the Super Bowl,” Anderson said. “And I’ve been on both ends playing against them losing, and also beating them twice for that trip to the Super Bowl, so what better way to finish it off than playing them for the big one?”

Anderson would love nothing more than to add another ring to his finger, especially against a team he has so much history with like the Patriots. That’s easier said than done because of how talented New England is, but he’s ready for the challenge Bill Belichick and Tom Brady present the Rams.

“They are a good football team, they’ve been good for a very long time and they’ll be ready,” Anderson said. “Obviously I got history playing him and he’s got history playing against me, so it’ll be fun. It’ll be fun to break them down.”

The key to the game, Anderson says, is protecting the football and making as few mistakes as possible.

“At the end of the day it’s going to come down to two great football teams. Whoever makes the least mistakes, don’t turn over the football — I can promise you they will win the football game,” he said.

With the most Super Bowl experience of any player on the Rams, expect Anderson to be a vocal leader in the locker room leading up to the game.

Big Whit tells it like it is. Nice job, big fella

This, from Whit, is 100% correct. And its not just the opportunities they had after the non-call. They had chances to put that game away long before that occurred. Not the ref's fault the TE dropped a sure TD early in the game.

Also, any Saints fans arguing that this game should be replayed or that there'll be an asterisk next to the Rams name if they win the big one need to go and get some self-awareness. They won the Superbowl in Feb 2010 while their players were being paid bonuses for targeting and injuring opposition players. Talk about a big fat asterisk! That was way more egregious than a single missed call by the refs which, while obviously bad, was still only one play and cannot be compared to multiple years of the bounty scandal (the Superbowl year being the first of those seasons).

That smug prick Payton is experiencing some karma. He experienced it last year with the Minneapolis Miracle and he got an extra little dose this year but, be assured, it was only a little dose because he had that game in his grip and contributed to the loss with his own play calling.

Method to Calculate Pass Interference Penalties

Yeah, it has to be a spot foul or there's incentive to create a foul early.

Heck, we still see it where a guy knows he's going to get beat deep, so he grabs on, knowing that the spot foul early beats the snot out of a deep PI or a TD.

when it was a 15 yard penalty, WRs would get crushed on deep balls.

it's part of why the Raiders of the 60s were considered such bad boys. To throw deep like that with the rules in place was more than a little crazy.

Goff Showed Me Something Yesterday!!!

Goff is awesome and we are lucky to have him. If we don't count his first year under Fisher, his record so far is 24 - 7. I don't think any QB should have to include their years with Fisher (at least with the Rams).

He has one of the best natural throws I have seen. His release could be a little quicker, but his arm motion is a thing of beauty. He throws a very catchable ball, always with the right touch on it and sweet spirals. He's great under pressure and consistently makes difficult passes that other QBs can't make. Yes, he misses a few, but they all do. In the last game he improved on his blitz performance, and he'll get better at that really soon, and I can see he is very coachable. He throws it away instead of tossing interceptions like other QBs do.

He's actually a pretty fast runner too although he doesn't like to scramble, but that's a good thing because he'll have a longer career that way. At first I was hoping we'd draft Wentz because of his feet, but when we drafted Goff and I studied the film, I was glad we got him. Fisher did not know how to game plan or understand play design, but he recognized talent. Our years with him were some of our worst, but at least he brought in some good players. I hope Goff stays with us a long time. He's one of the best and he's got a good attitude, a nice guy to work with. He's much better than he gets credit for simply because Fisher made him look bad his first year, and he's not a talker.

Marcus Peters confronts Asshole Face after game

Can’t stand Thomas’s obnoxious look-at-me flexing after every reception. Didn’t have much to flex about this game, but actually started to do it after one of his measly four catches, though appeared to have momentary sense and cut it short, realizing how pathetic it was given his performance to that point.

It's one of the things I dislike about him too - he's a fantastic athlete - stop it with the showboating

Help me Roll out some gametape

I am not the best at giving you film coverage.

These are the few things I wrote down.

The Patriots consistently like to start games by trying to stretch the defence with the run game. Get everybody taking horizontal steps.

The Pats Defense will do everything they can to crowd the line of scrimmage, especially early on. Try to gather tells and confuse the offense.

When you get to Brady. JAM-BLOCK-FILL early passing lanes. Get to Brady he can be susceptible. Mind you that team will never stop trying to get after it and finding ways to beat you.

Accentuate the Positive

Rams Fans. I found myself getting pulled into the negative aftermath of the Saints game and away from the joy of the Rams season and their amazing march to the Frikkin' Super Bowl.

So I am going to Accentuate the Positive thru the Super Bowl:

- Goff growing up leaps and bounds before our very eyes at the tender age of 24
- Suh/Donald forming that dynamic duo we were drooling over since the Suh signing
- Rams WRs unselfishly contributing as the game dictates
- Talib/Peters settling into a tough coverage duo
- Fowler loving life and showing it
- GZ/Hekker reaffirming their stance as the best K/P duo in the league
- OL playing as an incredible unit and staying healthy for the entire year
- Littleton making great on his opportunity to shine this year
- Everett/Higbee forming a solid TE combo
- Reynolds stepping in and providing a different but effective skill set from Kupp
- Gurley being a stud and great team player as his role changes week to week
- Anderson being the surprise gift that keeps on giving
- John Johnson evolving into an all pro Safety
- and oh yeah McVay for being an all time energizing "Me Not We" genius coach that old time Rams fans have been wanting for decades

Time to block the noise, Accentuate the Positive and Enjoy the final leg of the 2018/2019!!

Rich Eisen on Goff: From 0 wins to SB

Yup, when all this madness about the non call dies down, rational people know the Rams are a very good team and earned their way to the Superbowl. What is even better, no matter what happens in Atlanta, this team is built to last. They're gonna be back in the mix year after year. Because we have stud quarterback and stud coach. Not to mention stud GM who will plug holes as needed.

And we are now a destination team... A team where vets want to come for a chance to be apart of a great environment and to win a ring. That is a huge advantage that teams like the Pats have had. Once you get there you can plug a couple holes that you can't through the draft without having to overpay to do so. Bad teams have to pay through the nose to get that type of player and often that still isn't enough.

Preparing For The Cheatriots

We know that Belicheater will take away your top weapon. They will probably try to jam Gurley coming out of the backfield and you know their defense will be grabbing our receivers all day long unless the refs curb it by throwing some penalty flags. We need to counter this by alignment or by play design.

We also know that the cheater's offense will be holding and grabbing jersey against our D-line unless called as well. We need to maybe get Suh and Donald to bull rush the same guy to collapse the pocket. Maybe we need to add another man in the box who threatens blitz but drops into coverage to prevent the short slants.

I think there will also be a lot of WR screens and quick throws to the edge like the cheaters did against the sea pigeons a few years back if the Rams play soft coverage. I'm pretty sure the cheaters will be throwing quick passes and testing our edge with their running game. We need to counter with on the fly adjustments.

I'm confident Wade and McVay will put together a great game plan and we'll have a good chance to win this championship.
Wade's plan, unleash the kraken

Who Lost The Game For The Saints?

While it's clear that the Saints were badly outplayed and out-coached for most of the game, and that there were numerous calls that should have gone our way and didn't, like it or not the game and our eventual Super Bowl win will be defined by that blown call. Bill Buckner committed 14 errors in 1986... but we only remember one, and say it cost the Red Sox the World Series. This DESPITE the fact that they still had one more game to play and could have won it then. Same with poor Steve Barton and the Cubs. Or, you know, the Raiders. They still could have stopped Brady. Or the Rams, who let Brady drive from his own 17 to their own 30 in a 1:14 with no time-outs.

A dropped ball with seven seconds left in the 1st quarter is one thing. A dropped ball with seven seconds left in the 4th quarter is another thing all together. Same play... but it's not.

It was a terrible call. I wish it hadn't happened. I wish NRC had of turned his head, intercepted the ball, and high stepped into the end-zone for a pick-six. But that's not what happened. Oh well.

We're going to the Super Bowl, and I am thrilled beyond belief. But when we win - and we will win - this will be the narrative from now until the end of time. Better get used to it, because it ain't going away. Again, oh well.
