Brian Allen ready to compete for starting center

The interesting thing about this time of year is how much does the front office believe in the guys they have in place. I’ve seen mocks of the Rams taking a center with the first pick, does that mean McVay doesn’t believe in Allen or just that writers don’t know or haven’t taken the time to find out about guys like him. Same with guys like Obo or Kiser, maybe Snead loves these guys and will be trading down and drafting depth.

It means the guys who do the public mocks generally don't know what we have, only know about Sullivan leaving and it's "plug and play" when we all know it's far more complicated than that.

Rams' old folks home for veterans is now part of the offseason strategy

I don't know how much to expect from Matthews. But I feel like Weddle still has something left in the tank. I do expect a better regular season defense this time around.

Some people feel like there's a blueprint to slow down McVay's offense. If so, the defense might have to step up more this season. But I also think McVay's smart enough to adjust to that. If there really is a blueprint I would think they wouldn't be scoring even more in 2018 after leading the league in points in 2017.

I'll bet every ROD buck I've ever made that the Rams average at least 30.0 points per game this season. Book that.

It'll tighten toward the end of the season, but I expect our offense to light things up early. I'll have more to say about it once I see the offense and read the camp reports prior to the first pre-season game.

Kupp back is HUGE and the continued development of Everett CANNOT be understated. He's made catches and blocks which put his potential as one of the top TEs in the league.

I think Everett can be as good or better than George Kittle, but a better blocker. THAT's how confident I am based on the play I've seen.

Rams' window remains open, so it's Super Bowl or bust 2.0

I watched the same game you did and I didn't get the sense that there were plays to be made as you said.

The Patriots defense stuffed the Rams, they had no chance and scored the least amount of points in the history of the SB.

That probably changes if they call that PI, but yeah. Both Ds balled out and we got caught in a pattern that McVay probably had no clue about.

We all have various things we prefer.

One thing we know McVay can do is adjust. Don't be surprised if we don't change things up, go two TEs and power run or play action out of that. Or start out in an 11 personnel and then have Everett move out into a trips formation. That's going to put an LB or a safety in coverage and neither is a good match for Everett.

Aaron Donald - The Battering Ram (Career Retrospective)

I got emotional watching that.

I can relate to his outlook of having to outwork everyone which is why he's such a great fit with McVay.

That said, don't be too upset if our offense is a little off in the beginning of early team workouts since it's been a couple of years since we've had him in there.

One thing's for sure... Brian Allen and Joe Noteboom are going to be baptized in fire all off-season...

Any body want Duke Johnson?

I've seen this statement a couple of times now from a few ROD posters and I'm a little confused as to how the Comp pick deal works. Surely CJ's deal would have to be commensurate with what we are paying Matthews for it to 'recoup' the pick? I doubt Anderson gets a deal in the $6-8M range so wouldn't it be more likely we lose the Joyner 4th rd pick and maybe pick up a pick in the 6th or 7th depending on what Anderson's contract terms are?

Backup qb

I would think you’d want some continuity over time at that position and not just sign vets like Bortles every year.
Its a good topic, however we need to keep in mind that this is the 1st time in McVay 3 off season he's making a change at backup. So continuity has been the tag line so far. My guess would be they draft a QB and let him sit behind Bortles for a year and then have him for the next 3 seasons.

Give your TimeShare story

In most cases you could have a better vacation for what you end up spending.

That's the main reason I've never considered them. Did go to a presentation many years ago, right after college. They sent me a flyer offering several prizes - none of them very good. I needed a checkbook to show I was financially viable. Of course, I'd been laid off a week before. My roommate was between construction gigs. So we drove down to the Oregon coast on the appointed day. Picked up a hitchhiking couple who decided to tag along. Showed up in the office, all of us with old, torn clothes - everybody else was dressed nice, including the customers - I showed them the flyer and my checkbook. They basically threw the cheap ass gifts at me, and the gist was not to waste their time. So my roommate and I drove back to the Willamette Valley. Don't know what happened to the hitchhikers. I like to think the company was a little more careful going forward who they sent their flyers to.

Quick look at our LB corps

I liked the Fowler re-up, I'm lukewarm about Mathews.
Neither is seen as a long term solution though. With the Donald, Gurley, and Havs re-ups and the impending Goff mega deal just around the corner, I believe the Rams are just trying to "buy" time until they acquire and develop youth at LB.

The Rams really need to develop one of these young guys under their rookie deal as a legit (feared) pass rusher. If they feel their isn't anybody on the roster right now who can be that guy, they're gonna have to spend another pick on one.

Here's hoping O-O works out. Fowler will be gone after this year.

Agree with everything you said, and the reasoning. Think they will draft an ER this year, and one of the 5 they are grooming should hit, but they needed to be better than last year, so DF's here for a year.

I do like the Matthews signing though, and don't think Goff and Donald's contracts are going to keep us from ever getting another great player. Who know, Snead and Demoff may sign Goff to a 10 year deal for $200M, (assuming they feel it's warranted). They do tend to think outside the box.

When Rams open offseason program, focus will be on present — not the past

I am a homer but I feel the Rams window has a chance to open wider in the next couple of years with the growth of Goff/Kupp/Everett, less reliance (but still dynamic use) on Gurley, continual tweaking of the Defense and the success in the Draft of starters/depth. The only exception was the loss of Saffold and its impact on the OL.

There is a big difference between how the Rams lost their Super Bowl and how the Falcons lost their Super Bowl. The Rams offense just couldn't get going and only had a chance if a couple of big passing plays had gone their way. The Falcons snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. All Super Bowl losses result in some level of a hangover but the Falcons required a trip to the emergency room due to alcohol poisoning while the Rams can be remedied by a doobie and a bloody mary.

The End of SOSAR, and Beginning of the GSOT

Anyone who ever said that the Lou didn't support the Rams and was a baseball town needs to watch some of the GSOT home games. That crowd was LIT. Wish I had made it to a game there.

The dome used to ROCK and was so loud that my ears would be ringing the next day like I had been at a major rock concert.

I remember the crowd being so loud that my vision felt blurry from the noise.

I flew in for games many times. Until the team was shit for many years in a row the fans showed up and supported the team big time.

Fans don't show up to support a bad team. Not at current pro sports prices to attend games live. Especially the NFL prices.

Opposing fans will show up though, and we have seen that for a handful of years with the Rams.
