The Bright Side of Gurley's Big Contract.

I have no problem with the contract. Gurley is more than just a RB and I have confidence he will continue to be a great player. We could have played hardball and saved a few million on a then disgruntled player while showing the rest of the league how much we value our star talent. Instead, we stepped up and in doing so (as the OP said) are forcing other teams to do the same. We will be fine and this contract is not going to drown the franchise - quite the opposite.

Most Impressive Play of the PreSeason, and we might Cut Both

Wolford might develop - I doubt he'd ever be a good starter. He looked good - at times - against players who are unlikely to be be on a NFL roster this season (at least the vast majority). As a practice squad player, fine. But while I hate the Patriots, I like what they do for reserve QBs - they draft relatively high to try to get someone who can play enough that the season isn't screwed if Brady misses time.

Now that the Rams have a deep team, it's time for them to draft a real long term backup QB next season, and not count on luck or questionable kids to fill the backup spot.

A Giant Volcano Could End Human Life on Earth as We Know It

Yeah, worrying about a Yellowstone Super Volcan eruption is pretty low on my list of things to worry about.

Although, there was the Year without Summer. In April of 1815, Mt Tambora in today's Indonesia, erupted massively. In 1816, the Northern hemisphere experienced a time of snow and ice in the summer months. Starvation in Europe and North Amreica occured due to crop failures. It was listed as the 6th worst National disaster in the United Kingdom's history. It caused an obscure farmer's family to leave Sharon, Vermont to the Ohio Valley because it seemed liked crop failures would last forever due to the cold. This pushed many New England farmers to shift to warmer areas....A child that was in the farmer's family, was Joseph Smith, founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. The weather did not normalize for about a decade, and this was not a Super Volcano.

Rams LB Troy Reeder fined $10K for late hit that got him ejected

Troy Reeder's weakness is in coverage & yes he is slow when playing back from the LOS. His reverse gear is not smooth & will be beaten when forced into these situations. Buttmonkey.....

Right now this defense has only one ILB'er who can shed most all the blocks from the TE's & OL'ers to fight through a massive moving mess of large linemen & he will make the tackle @ the LOS. ...... His name is Troy Reeder. The rest of our fast light ILB'ers will be snowplowed way down the street & up on the curb with last weeks snow & other debris.

Sean McVay names positions Rams are watching closest before final cuts

That's why he took the small contract in an expensive place to live - to build up his value to become a starter again.

Well, ... the first part is irrelevant, but the second part is right on.
When Bortles was released by JAX, he was owed a substantial amount of money from them. While Bortles is only being paid 1.mil by the Rams, the Jags are still paying something like 6 or 7 mil for him in 2019. The Rams pay is being deducted from what JAX owed him, ... theoretically, Bortles could have sat out the entire season and still receive the same pay. He purposely came to the Rams to learn from McVay, and we got the one year deal of a lifetime. At least this is how I remember it going down at the time.

53 man roster

I think they will follow convention and carry only 2 QB's. I am even more sure that they will only carry 1 NT and that's Gaines. SJD has shown nothing to warrant a roster spot. He simply looks no different than last year despite having a year to develop.

I think they may break from convention and load up on WR's for a couple of reasons. I think Hodge and Thomas are equally talented but show different roles they can play. Hodge is a possession type of WR and Thomas is a mid-range to deep receiver. Also, they need to carry Webster as a possession receiver and return specialist. The other reason is why release players you know probably will be picked up by AZ and or SF? Why strengthen them?

I'm going deep in the secondary looking at next year. There is a real prospect the Rams could completely turn over their CB's. I'm not convinced they extend Peters and Talib. I think they exercise their ability to get out of their contracts with Hill and Roby-Coleman. Both these guys make the team this year simply because of their dead cap situation which doesn't apply next year.

That's why I'm looking at the fact they have replacements already on the roster and one year of experience will mean they have veteran replacements for the guys they release. Two guys are very intriguing. Parker and especially Gervase. When I look at Gervase play I see a CB, not a safety. He has the height, speed, and agility you want in a CB. He's only an inch shorter than Talib, equally as fast as Talib was as a rookie and Jake is more agile. That's not a safety that's a CB. In Parker, he has excellent length and the speed you want in your secondary. That combination isn't common and you don't want him playing against you at AZ or SF. The Seahawks love tall fast CB's and safeties for a reason. It gives them the range and most of all the play radius they don't get with smaller players.

This is my 53 and it's almost the same as the one I posted earlier.

Help Wanted: Bookie(s)

Still searching for interest in helping here. I don’t want to downplay the work, but we’ll build the wagers we have time to build. In other words, we hope to share as much as possible across some bookies.

It’s a chance to get involved, see if you like it, in the process learn and have fun with it.

That’s the goal.
