Flashback to the beginning of the postseason tourney.

Pretty good article, even though Passan always struck me as a overdramatic dweeb.

Ohtani vs Judge. "Once in a lifetime matchup of superstars" ?? Like Snider and Mantle? Or Aaron and Mantle? Or Mays and Mantle? Or Mel Ott and DiMaggio? Or Jackie Robinson and DiMaggio? I guess it depends on how old the author happens to be. Ted Williams and Stan Musial was a good comparison but Passan saw neither in his lifetime.

I had to think long and hard but in my lifetime, the biggest matchup of Superstars (in their prime) in a World Series was probably 30 year old Mike Schmidt vs 27 year old George Brett in 1980. Schmidt hit 48 homers and drove in 121 runs that season, while Brett hit .390 and drove in 118. Ohtani is 29 and Judge is 32 and both are in their prime. That certainly qualifies. Schmidt hit .381, with 2 homers, 7 rbi and a 1.176 OPS. Brett hit .375 with a homer, 3 rbi and a 1.090 OPS. (Bob Boone, Aaron's dad, hit .412 with 4 rbi and 1.029 OPS :wow2:). Will Judge/Ohtani out-do Schmidt/Brett? If they do, we're in for a treat.

How about it? What was the biggest matchup of Superstars in their prime, in your lifetime (before Ohtani/Judge)?

Ohtani vs Judge

Fernando Valenzuela passes

I saw Fernando and the Dodgers beat the Padres at San Diego Jack Murphy stadium in 1984 or 85. He pitched a shut out and the Dodgers won 1-0. I of course wore my Dodgers cap all game and those Padres bastids knocked it off while I was walking out! Fernando was great!
There was always a question whether he was really as young as he reportedly was? I guess we'll never know.

NFC WEST

@Faceplant seems like a douche.
Dude. Learn to take a joke. If someone said that while you were having a beer with them, I'd hope you'd just laugh it off.

I've liked a lot of your posts but you're kinda going off the rails here.

I realize you're new so maybe you ought to spend a little time getting used to the place before you start trying to shit on long time members. You're welcome to your opinions and you're welcome here. Make it fun to have you around - not a chore.

CELEBRATE !! Week7 Raiders at Rams Celebration Thread

Thoughts about the game now that I'm back home (attended it):
- The Raider fans showed out. The stadium looked 75% Raiders fans. I was feeling ashamed of Ram fans for not showing up.
- Most of my interactions with Raider fan was good, but, they were incredibly obnoxious in my section, standing at the front of the section and yelling "Whose House? Raaaaaaiders" over and fucking over again. Best believe, I lost my voice yelling WHOSE HOUSE when the Rams were doing well (still barely have a voice).
- Man, Stafford looked bad in that game. I get it, he has no top level WR's, but he missed wide open guys multiple times. Maybe he has an injury that hasn't been disclosed? Arm looked shaky.
- Play calling in first half was atrocious. Especially on 3rd down.
- Lots of pressure from our front, as usual.
- I got afraid when we knocked AOC out. We have a bad history of back up QB's looking like prime Brady.
- In a shocking turn of events, the defense was the deciding factor in the game. Now, granted, we were playing the worst offense on paper in the league.

I don't have high hopes about the Vikings game. Raiders are a LONG way off of the Vikings talent and we struggled with them. At home.

Jaylen MCCOLLOUGH leads LA Rams in interceptions

Jaylen McCollough just got called up and in two games he leads the Rams with three interceptions. During the preseason, you could see that he was making crucial plays.

What was McVay or Shula saw in the other guy, TreWhite, besides the huge FA contract to have him be the starter?

White was replaced by Darius Williams, a corner. McCullough seems to be getting Kinchens snaps now, Kinchens and McCullough are safeties

McCollough is a safety. He's has not been playing cornerback.
I was going to point that out as well.
