Deshaun Watson signs extension

It’s easy to have an opinion about athletes and entertainers cuz they’re on our TVs all the time but what about the guys making real money, most of whom I’ve never heard of. Bezos will probably be making a trillion bucks before too long.

You are absolutely right. And Bezos got his money because he gets special shipping rates from the USPS, causing them to lose money, and puts all the small retailers out of business.

UNDISPUTED | Eric Dickerson "bold prediction" Jared Goff, Rams will beat Dak, Cowboys in Week 1

Why would anyone be stupid enough to call out a supreme overachiever like The Kraken! by saying he's only average? Who in the entire NFL gets keyed on by multiple blockers as much as he does? Who in the entire NFL gets held as much as he does? by putting the spotlight on Aaron, you automatically put the spotlight on the guys who are holding him. He can dominate with his own play or by drawing penalty yardage against Da 'Boys as well!

What Cowboys fans are saying?

My biggest concerns about the Rams game:

1. Bad weather. It disrupts my Direct TV. The good news we are going to have clear skies tomorrow.

2. The game runs late. Tuesday is a school morning. A late running game means bed time is probably broken.

3. Late dinner. Luckily the Mrs plans to watch and knows when the kick off is. So that shouldn't be problem.

4. Phone rings. Typically I hate to shut my phone off. But this one time I'm considering it. I really HATE it when someone calls and says, did you see that? REALLY??? The person calling knows I'm watching the game. Another good one is the Cowboys opponent scores to take the lead. In the 1st half. My phone rings. DO YOU THINK THE COWBOYS CAN COME BACK?

5. Snacks and drinks. Heading to the store later this morning to make sure everything is covered.

6. Victory dance. Normally it's subdued but beating the Rams I'll be more jacked than normal. I'm pretty excited about McCarthy and like our chances in January. Since it's a night game and the curtains will be closed and the neighbors can't see me I might run around like I'm 13-14 again. Just hope I don't pull something.

Ha! Got to love that list.

Man what roster changes on Teams.

Man watched U of Miami, my college team since before birth and I noticed

They had this player from that team, then another and another and so on.

Then this is this, that player had opted out etc etc. I can see it if leaving because of Covid and/or if your team isn't playing for now, Sure.

But I would think if your especially, highly rated and your Team is playing thru this mess, get out there.jmho

Btw I post this not because I miss some star players, but because, I think if they can,it's best for their future playing.

TNF: Texans at Chiefs

My concern, if the TNF game is any kind of week 1 indicator, is that tackling, especially in the run game, will be off.

That plays to their strength and we’ll definitely have to bring our A game vs the run or it’s gonna be a long day.

I think we can do it, but I’m more nervous than I was yesterday.
Honestly missed tackles was the biggest problem last time we played the Cowboys. A lot of those big runs would have been minimal gains had the first and sometimes second defender brought down the ball carrier.

Any news on A’Shawn Robinson?

This is a really creative and ingenious solution by Demoff, Pastoors and Snead! I hope Robinson is willing and able to play this season.
Agree the arrangement is creative and further seems to suggest that Robinson wants to play down the stretch. That would be awesome if it happens.

But can anyone explain what is actually going on with him physically? Is he recovering from something or was this just a precautionary virus opt out (bearing in mind health concerns including circulatory stuff which have been reported)?

Will no fans in the stands affect players?

Is fake crowd noise a stadium by stadium decision? Or why have I missed this... Is our stadium going to be quiet?

Slight edit on content. Looks like the NFl will limit the sound level to be equal around the league. Last night they said the was no piped in sound. The article says they would piped in sound where they have fans. Maybe they will have to in Jacksonville since very people will be attending.

NFL games will have artificial crowd noise specific to each stadium

The NFL season kicks off Thursday night with the Houston Texans visiting the defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a significantly reduced number of fans at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, while many other stadiums aren’t allowing fans to attend at all just yet.

So to recreate hearing a full arena while you’re watching a game on TV, the NFL plans to use prerecorded fan noise that’s specific to each stadium. As a Seahawks fan, I hope that means I’ll be able to hear the classic “SEA! COCKS!” chant while watching quarterback Russell Wilson pull off yet another dazzling display of athleticism to single-handedly keep the team’s playoff hopes alive.

For fans attending games in person, stadiums will be piping in a loop of prerecorded crowd noise that’s also specific to the stadium. (The idea is to create a “baseline ‘murmur,’” as described by an NFL memo.)
Other sports leagues and broadcasters have taken different approaches to recreate having fans in seats. Fox Sports has slotted virtual fans created in Unreal Engine to “fill” seats during MLB broadcasts. (They’re kind of creepy.) Some MLB stadiums have allowed fans to purchase cardboard cutouts of themselves to put in the seats. (One Mets fan bought a seat for their dog.) La Liga, Spain’s top soccer division, returned with computer-generated crowds in June. And the NBA has been using Microsoft Teams to let fans “sit” courtside by displaying them on giant screens.

John Johnson III enters fourth season as emerging leader

Too bad he probably won't be on the team next year. The market for safeties is insane and with all the other FA I think Johnson is gone. But Snead also feels likewise and he drafted Burgess who IMO is an upgrade in terms of talent. He has the speed to give him the range as a single high safety that is lacking in Johnson.

Next year it will be Rapp, Burgess, Fuller, and Scott (who is coming on much as Christian did).

Jalen Ramsey's contract details show how Rams created $7.5M in cap space for 2020

Jalen Ramsey and the Rams finally came to terms on a contract extension Wednesday, agreeing to a five-year deal worth $105 million. It’s the largest deal ever for a defensive back, tying him to Los Angeles through 2025.

The Rams had been working on the contract with Ramsey’s agent since the trade happened last October, but clearly it wasn’t an easy deal to lay out – especially considering the team’s salary cap situation.

By getting Ramsey’s deal done, the Rams actually freed up a significant chunk of cap space in 2020. According to Mike Garafolo’s breakdown of Ramsey’s contract, his base salary this season will only be $1.2 million – down from $13.7 million.

Because he got a $25 million signing bonus, which is prorated over five years, his cap hit will drop from that $13.7 million figure to about $6.2 million ($1.2 million base salary plus $5 million per year for the bonus). That gives the Rams an additional $7.5 million in cap space this year, potentially opening the door for a Cooper Kupp extension.

Garafolo also pointed out that Ramsey has rolling guarantees, which all but ensure he’ll remain with the Rams through 2024.

Here’s the breakdown of Ramsey’s annual salary, per Garafolo. Ramsey also has a $4 million roster bonus each due in the spring of 2024 and 2025,

2020: $1.2 million base salary
2021: $17.5 million
2022 $15 million
2023: $17 million
2024: $14.5 million
2025: $15.5 million
There are no real surprises with Ramsey’s contract, but the Rams are essentially looking at a cap hit of at least $20 million in each of the next five years for their star corner.

Pair that with Jared Goff and Aaron Donald, whose contracts will have combined cap hits of at least $50 million each year through 2024, and the Rams have a good chunk of their salary cap accounted taken up for the foreseeable future.

Hard Knocks

I think the difference on the practice field between the Rams and the Chargers was Stark! Mcvay is on a mission and in complete control in comparison to the Chargers practice.

Also, listening to Snead is becoming increasingly concerning and embarrassing although I'm always rooting for him and everything Rams! He just seems like a guy that's not very bright trying way too hard to portray that he is with a lot of meandering nonsense. I'm losing any confidence in him as our GM.

GAME PASS BUYER BEWARE!!!

If I can watch something free on Game Pass i'll do that because their HD streams have been very good. If not there are plenty of good streaming sites out there. There's 1 particular Reddit-related site that has been brilliant for NHL, MLB, and US-only sports. I'm not posting sites or streams outside of PMs or the Members Only section any more.

2020 Rams Offseason Superlatives

Let's add a few more

Best FA signing: Bringing back Michael Brockers
Thank God we did. The DL would be really thin since A'shawn is injured.

Best Move: getting out of the Cooks and Gurley contracts
We didn't know how they were going to do it and it was heartbreaking, but it had to be done to move our money to the right positions. It takes a lot of balls to move a guy that's the face of the franchise.

Best Contract: securing Ramsey
The deal is done. We locked up a top 5 (at least) corner for the prime of his career. No media/contract distractions for the regular season.

Cam Akers prediction thread!

From what I gather, unlike most rookie backs pass protection is one of Cams strong suits.
In 2019 he put the ball on the ground 3 times off of 231 carries. Gurley had same amount 3 off of 223.
Did not look up previous years on Cam nor would I consider myself informed on any fumble issues in camp.

I agree" Cam is going to pleasantly surprise some people."
I feel the same about our oline, however I think it may take a few weeks to iron out the bugs up front.
The only reason I didn't project Cam over 1000 rushing is because I think, Henderson is going to pleasantly
surprise some people as well.
Great post. And I agree about Hendo, he's gonna surprise some people this year. He really ran hard in that 49er game. Sucks he got injured, I think we woulda seen some good stuff from him late last season. Between Hendo / Cam / Brown I think we got a nice RB committee room.
