Which FA Center??

I feel as though the majority agree that the o-line is a priority, but I cant understand then why trading Boom or Hav makes sense? Big Whit is on borrowed time, I seriously wonder if he even comes back for 2021, and even if he does, how do you count on him for 19 games? Even when he played the full season in 18 + 19, he clearly wore down at the end of the season. So what good is a mid to late pick for either guy when the OT is at least the serviceable portion of the o-line?
Good questions dieterbrock!

Not sure where the thought on trading Jospeh Noteboom came from?? JN has yet to show that he has any real worth. In college, he was known as being a really good technical sound LT in pass blocking...without any real run-blocking power. Thus far in the past 3 seasons, he has yet to show any above run blocking capabilities but is a more than capable pass blocker. I would think that since he has a very low salary hit & join that with the advanced age, injury & ultra-high salary of Whitworth I see no reason to move him. In fact, it would be a major mistake! Rams need to rethink how they work AW & JN this season @ LT. Might need to go HD with JN & lightly with AW until the playoffs enter the picture. But you paying really big to have AW here full time!

The reason I mentioned injury in ref. to AW is he has a history of a bad injury to that same knee about 5 or 6 yrs ago where he tore his ACL & MCL & went on the injured IR just like in 2020. AW reinjured that same knee last season. This HOF LT is going on 41 yr old guys......... No idea how that knee will be doing come July. It's a question yet to be answered.

Rob Havenstein has a cap hit of just under $20 million for the 2021/2021 seasons. He played more snaps this season than any of his previous seasons. Hav will have great value to a team that has a QB who has good pocket awareness & mobile. Teams looking to boost their off right tackle running game will greatly desire Hav!

Kromer has 3rd rd pick Bobby Evans will enter his 3rd season, who was an outstanding RT in college. Evans filled in for Hav in his rookie season & did well for a rookie playing in a makeshift OL. David Edwards who will enter his 3rd season & was a starter in his first two seasons is nearly 6-7 & well over his posted 308 pounds Edwards looks as big as the 330 lbs Hav. Edwards was also an excellent RT in college. Tremayne Anchrum will enter his 2nd season is another very successful RT in college where Anchrum played on two NCAA Championship teams. Chandler Brewer will enter his 2nd season as a 6-6/320 OL'er who took last season off due to Covid 19.... was a good RG in college but Kromer utilized Brewer @ swing OT the entire rookie season. Brewer has a promising rookie season. I guess you could also put Joseph Noteboom in the picture too. He is the most experienced OT of all mentioned above entering his 4th season & has been the assigned starter for Kromer initially in 2019 & 2020 @ RG then LT for the injured AW.

So that's FIVE prospective starting RT's if needed .... signed & under contract all looking for a starting post if Havenstein was traded before 6-1-2021.

PFF top 100 free agents and predictions

FWIW, here are the top 100 free agents of 2021 according to PFF with predictions where they sign and for how much. They predict the Rams re-sign Troy Hill and John Johnson III and pick up Alex Mack on a one year deal. Who knows, but it’s an easy read.
If I had my choice, I had much rather keep Johnson and Floyd.
I am not as big of fan of Troy Hill as Aaron Rogers is.
Love the Mack idea, but speed receiver is high on the list, whether
it's free agency or draft. With the deep ball being one of Stafford's
strengths, It only makes sense to accommodate.

Seattle Seahawks' Shane Waldron says there's 'philosophical alignment' with Pete Carroll

I wish Shane Waldron as much success as former Ram offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer in his time in Seattle.
You had me going there for a minute Den.

Schotty is probably a better overall DC than Walrdon. He has to be. But Waldron does have a good feel for how McVay marries shit and schemes things up and not gonna lie the thought of Wilson in our offense is shitty. If I had to guess just looking at Waldron's background Seattle's passing game will be good (his experience is the pass moreso and he's got top end talent) but maybe their run game dips.

May be way off on Walrdon here (I hope not) but he's not a mover and shaker. Pete's gonna be disappointed IMO.

The Tampon Cannons Won't Thunder This Sunday !

Yeah it’s not a complete ban of cannon fire, rather it will be limited. Anyway, it’s good to at least limit the cannon fire.
Those cannons will not fire on Sunday before or during the game, except for during the introduction of the Buccaneers, according to NFL senior VP Michael Signora, who told the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud they will be silenced during the game. If the Bucs win, Signora told Stroud, they'll fire the cannons "long and loud."

Final* Evaluation of Goff’s Rams Tenure

Yeah that 2018 team had a lot more talent. Gurley alone just changed a defense not to mention Cooks that year. But if they solve OL and add speed yes I could see an explosion like that.

I think Cam Akers really blossoms in his 2nd year.

I really like the 1-2 punch of Akers and Hendo. Akers ankle-breaks and then Hendo comes in a BOOM, burst. Then guys get to over-pursue a little bit and Akers cuts back and burns them.

Here is an interesting article from the Lions

Bruce Arians (then with the Cardinals) said it was far from the first time a coach did that with their QB. I think the main difference with the Rams is that they would hurry to the line of scrimmage to maximize the time that McVay could communicate with Goff.

I remember that. That's really what made me kind of forget about it. It wasn't until last year, and then this season that I started to noticed McVay looking frustrated that I thought back to it ..... Like I know Jared wouldn't be the first QB..but the degree to which McVay was reading defenses for Goff...and the frequency of it... Now that we've moved on...I'm super curious as to whether the AMOUNT of support he was giving Jared with that was because of shortcomings with Jared reading defenses.

another thing I remember is that I watched Jon Gruden sit down at the white board with with Jared and Wentz before the draft and there was something about Jared's white board acumen that I didn't like.... I wanted us to pick Wentz honestly after that.

Dear Jared...

Dear Jared,

What a ride you gave us! I will never forget the type of person you were through it all. I will never forget the memories you created for all of Rams nation. The layup over the goal post with the fireworks going off behind you on MNF against the Chiefs. How pumped you were after a 4th down sneak to take the life out of Seattle, in Seattle, in 2018. A moment which I witnessed live with my Dad btw. How you had to wear Sean Mannions Helmet to start the NFCCG in NO and your face looked all squished lol. How you rebounded in that same game to have an epic performance to take us to the big dance. How you absolutely torched the Vikings on a Thursday night when all I wanted was to see the O not look like crap against that D in the way it had just one season before, that was such a sweet and perfect victory! Lastly, I will never forget how gutsy your playoff performance in 2020-2021 was. That thumb looked like a grape fruit and yet you battled with your Ramily and you gave us an amazing gift with that grit: a win over the Seahawks that sent them home for the year.

You were my QB. I will always root for you no matter the circumstances. I hope you have a chance to get a Lombardi. We have to move on to the next chapter in our lives, and while sad it is also exciting for the Ramily, and for you. Cheers to you Jarred Goff!
;):beer2:

Yeah man, whatever lows we experienced the last 2 years with Goff, those highs were amazingly high. Those moments (which you described perfectly) are among my favorite sports memories of all time.

NFC West - All About the Rams vs 49’ers

In the NFC, it's interesting how the landscape might change quickly in terms of QB power. I believe the Rams have clearly upgraded if Stafford remains healthy and durable.

It's possible that both Brady and Brees retire leaving Tampa and New Orleans scrambling for QB's. Would Tampa relax with a fresh Super Bowl trophy in hand and just roll with whoever in 2021?
How would the Saints look with a full season of Winston/Hill?

You've got Rodgers in Green Bay who would be the lone "old guy vet." He's looking for an extension.

Seattle will be relevant as long as Wilson is there.

Arizona is building around Murray who is still finding his way.

Chicago has question marks.

Washington has question marks.

Minnesota has Cousins. Trade talk rumors.

Ryan in Atlanta. I don't see a team resurgence right now.

SF has question marks.

You've got to put Wilson & Rodgers at the top. Stafford could be right there if things go as planned.
Seems as though the best young QB's are in the AFC.
Lots of offseason yet to come but if Brady and Brees are gone...this window looks less daunting.

It has been another season of enjoying posts of others, learning more about the sport, and sharing events and ideas. This place is truly a step up and over the rest and I hope the members here understand how special this forum is for all of us. Even when we disagree, it's a fun read, and I learn another's perspective. Thanks to all of you, and I know we will keep it up. I will be sponsoring in the very near future.

The Goff-season Thread

Cripes, where’s the “kumbaya” shit from McVay?

I’m as big a McVay supporter as anybody (I’d give him a lifelong contract, etc) but really, how hard can it be to say something nice about Goff, now that it’s over? What the hell is he waiting for?

I understand that because of “tampering” rules he can’t discuss the trade until March 17, but there doesn’t seem to be any legal reason to prevent him from saying some nice platitudes about Goff.

And frankly it doesn’t even need to be genuine... just suck it up, McVay, and say some nice-sounding shit, even if ya don’t really believe it!

House Warming Gift From Detroit Fans

(1) Legendary unedited Mic'd Up segment vs. Cleveland, where rookie QB Matthew Stafford separated his shoulder and still threw the game-winning TD, thus endearing himself forever to the city of Detroit. (Alternate version with more clips and even more epic music)

Some good stuff in the Alternate version including:
@1:36 Stafford's reaction to a play Linehan drew up -- "that might work". Don't ever remember anyone saying that.
@2:14 tapping his O-linemen's helmets in the huddle (with the D watching), to help sell the play fake.
@2:55 sure looks relaxed and fluid moving around the pocket.
@4:02-end: not the stuff that shows up in stats, but teammates notice.
@5:25 #23, bang, right on the bad shoulder, jerk!

Jim Rome (The Rams Are like no other) Pro Sports Organization

I still think Goff has a whole lot of potential. But I also think Stafford has elite talent. My only reservation is his age and how long he plays at his elite level. I can see him playing at this level for another 2-3 years.

This has elevated the Rams into a SB favorite. I agree you gotta love the Ram's all-in attitude. I don't worry at all about the 1st rounders. I've been saying it for a year. This team is essentially built. Drafts aren't to fill holes but to increase depth and anticipate roster attrition down the road.

Hell yeah go for it!
Keep him healthy and matt could be the next 40 yr old winning qb.
