2021 NFL Draft: Lance Zierlein’s top 10 centers

How do we still have 17 days to the draft. I really hate this change man. Was so much better having the draft earlier in the offseason this is some BS.
I think it feels so much longer because of how the other off season events were cancelled. The NFL Combine was such a great distraction, a week of watching 40 times, bench pressing, QB drills etc.... With that and for all intents and purposes, the college all star games not being the same, there has been an additional void added to the longest off season in sports

I think that’s it. No combine throws a big gap in activity.

We were sort of lucky having the Stafford trade to fill the void. Some teams have only free agent news, and some of those teams not much of that.

On his 85th birthday, 23 tales of the true John Madden

Love John Madden. He and Summerall were the best ever.

Yeah... they formed “a sound that filled your house” back then. It was awesome!

I have an old video of a round table discussion involving ex-Raider players. IIRC it was part of a Superbowl pregame show. Phil Villipiano, Marv Hubbard, George Atkinson, Jim Otto (I think) and I forget the other guy. Towards the end, Madden joins them. That was the first time I heard about his SB pregame speech and to hear it told by those guys was special.

That sounds really great. I wonder if that’s on YouTube anywhere?

Austin Blythe to Chiefs

Blythe is a smart blue collar OL. As a result his floor is NFL player grade. The problem is there is little room between his floor and his ceiling. His ceiling is not NFL starter grade.

Exactly- Austin Blythe was such a awesome stop gap player for The Rams.He took The Rams to the SuperBowl.
He was apart of a Ram RB Top 10 season with Todd Gurley while having to start at RG. We are talking about a swing C/G Backup Player, who’s call of duty was to be a starter. He was signed to Poor 1 year contracts by numbers. He was a magic figure for the salary cap.He is tough as nails who had to take over the starting Center Spot with 2 late Round 22 year old Rookies & a player Les Snead traded for mid-season for a 2020 5th rd pick.
Andrew Whitworth being The Veteran & team leader in the huddle,it was Austin Blythe making all The Play Calls for the O’-Line.
I’m not a Big Stat guy,but one stat that is Pretty Awesome is SACKS.Ram Fans should know DEACON JONES was one of The Best in NFL History. There is only 1 problem with that.QB Sacks were not recorded back then.
It’s Easy for RAM (Sports) FANS to be HATERS & talk CRAP about Players.I’m very good with that. The thing is is there are certain players that are overachievers. They play at The Highest Levels.Help teams achieve there goals, all while being such a big part of it.As a OC Angels & Rams Fan who always LOVvED The Rams even when they Sucked & went to St.Louis. Lossing 19 straight to that one team that has always been in that division & have a St.Louis type of example.
HATE The Angels & Mike Trout ERA.My dad died during it & was the worst years.Albert Pulhus is say The Todd Gurley if The Rams kept him. Then you have a little guy like David Eckstien who takes the Angels to a World Series & then signs with St. Louis & does the same. Austin Blythe can go to Missouri & help KC win a SuperBowl. He is a lesser player, but the example is some what fitting.

The Rams Offensive Line gave up the fewest Sacks in The NFL in 2019.Like I said I am not a stat guy,but The Rams O”Line with an injured Blythe was not the reason The Rams didn’t make the Playoffs.

Lamar Jackson to cash in? Tackling issues for next big QB contract

Well, the Ravens do have some time to figure this out He has 1 more year on his contract as I'm thinking they will pick up the 5th year option, even if it's as expensive as reported (23 mill).
Then they can tag him for 2023 at approx 27 mill & 2024 on a second tag @ 32 mill (these numbers are just absurd btw)
Essentially, he's locked up for 3 years 80-82 mill guaranteed after this season

Oooh. Good point. That might be a good strategy. (y)

Ramblin on: 10 LA Rams news offseason observations

This may go down as a free agent we totally slept on. Put me in that category, anyway.

The more I digest this move, the more I think the Rams know EXACTLY what Jackson does for the offense - immediately.

Regardless the stats he ends up with, the defense must account for Jackson out there. Can we say the same about Reynolds last year?

Ditto for the offense.

Stafford, Woods, Kupp, Akers, Higbee. The core is solid.

Woo hoo! Is it opening day yet?

I’ll start by the lack of hope or talk about The Offensive Line.Where did The Rams get younger on Offense AT ALL?? Talk about Reynolds, well Van Jefferson & some Ram players were pissed he didn’t get more playing time.He is just an added figure as well, but he is no real rookie to The NFL.

Akers is brought up ? HENDO will be another guy in zero packages.I bet he lined up more that way than Akers or Brown? Either way The Rams have 2 young RB’s that will play special teams. They also are going to have to be counted on at some point.
—Akers is 15-20 pounds heavier than them.

DL ?? A” Robinson missed 1st 1/2 of season. He should be a starter. He is a veteran more in his prime than Brockers.(Demoff takes care of players),Brockers was a Raven before being the bridge gap. Gaines is going into 3rd year. Those 3 rookie DLmann are depth. You like to see growth.

LB ? You look at the position & look back at 2020.The Rams had injury & growth. We can go down the list. I have d- post that will address that.

Just 2018 draft— ??? vs. 2017 ???
My view is this is the season for returns of draft picks.

Hopkins vs Everett??? Mundt & Blanton have been in the system.
There is a blank in NFL experience & stats. —The Rams will add a TE.
Everett played FB in sets. -Draft FB?

The Rams need a CB
.practice squad Juju ? deayton?
Les Snead (Mcvay) is always going to find DB’s in drafts. 2018 maybe not ?

special teams- new Long snapper is a question Mark even more than Gay.Johnny is Johnny- He still is a top Punter.

New Coaching Staff was not brought up?? Plus having the same OC in O’Connell is a plus. Morris I like in the long run.The Rams will get a Comp pick if not,so finally some insurance if McVays tree keeps growing.
Training camp?? In 2020 practices Mcvay must have lost confidence in play calling going up against The #1 Defense in The NFL.

OTA phase 1 starts April 19th

Looking to the future they have Corbett as a free agent next winter. Drafting a guy like Meinerz or Green could be with an eye to replacing Corbett. If that were the case then having a guy sit a year but still drafted early makes sense.

I go back to what Snead said about his Centers. Other than Trumping up Blythe a little (maybe due to courtesy or to help him get a good offer) he didn’t really sound very positive about Shelton or Allen. Soto Me that leaves Corbett, Anchrum, or a draft pick. Many speculate Dalman. I wouldn’t mind Morrisey or Menet. Any center they get that isn’t top three likely won’t be ready to start. But if they think highly enough of a guy to use a second or third rounder on him then he likely starts.

I'd be surprised if either Noteboom or Corbett priced themselves out of being re-signed by the Rams, although the 2021 season could certainly bolster those chances if they prove to have an outstanding year. jmo.

Tiger Woods injured in roll over crash.

Well the Sheriff report is out and what happened is pretty much what I figured.

He was going too fast - about 75 to 85 miles per hour on a 45 MPH road.

He probably hit some slickness on the road and completely lost control at that speed.

I will admit I have gone 55 to 65 on that road. It is real easy to do going downhill.

But when it is wet - I slow down a lot.

I read that he didn't hit the break and the pedal was at 99% pressed. They think he confused gas for the break but to me it sounds like someone falling asleep. He was extremely lucky.

Has the NFL Free Agency pool Dried Up?

The lowered cap has a lot to do with so many quality players still out there. Teams are holding off and these guys are clinging to their pride. Just my .02.
I dont think so. The decreased cap just demands a little creativity, but seeing the money some of these guys are getting? Nah... I think it's like everything else, the Rams set the precedent and the league follows. May as well wait to sign after the comp pick calculation expires. No point in giving away a pick because you cant wait 2 weeks to sign a guy.
Nobody out there earth shattering
