TuTu Zero Drops

I will give him credit. He held onto the ball with some big hits. Even with the disappointment surrounding the pick I don't think there is one of us that are not rooting for the guy to be all they hope he can be.

It gets a lot harder vs starters but Tutu aced his first two tests. Who knows, he may be the most resilient 150 lber to ever play in the NFL.

He did have one drop to be technical. Early in the game when the linebacker knocked the ball out on the left sideline. Lot's of bigger WR's go up and get that ball and bring it down. But its ok. That will not be a bread and butter play for him. I expect him going deep, getting jet sweeps and lots of WR screens and quick outs obviously.
That pass was way under-thrown.

Colts QB Carson Wentz to see foot specialist, might need surgery

What is it about Wentz that brought you to that initial conclusion? There are many QB's that come into the league with that reckless style. Some of them get beatdown, some of them don't...and they all take the hits(except for maybe Wilson when he isn't facing our Rams).

I'm sincerely intrigued by what you saw. I want to learn something.
Wentz seemed determined to throw his body into the mix at every opportunity as if success at the qb position depended on sheer physicality. You may have seen other players like this but I don't think I've ever seen a qb quite so inclined. Especially one who could pass the ball and just didn't need to gain marginal yards by risking his body. Like every play was a trial of strength and all contact was a challenge from which he could never back off. This after serious injuries in college.

I also couldn't believe that his coaches didn't stop it. Think of it as the opposite of McVay withholding starters in preseason.

If you don't believe my description there are certainly many examples on video of this which I was struck by at the time, and which should be clear to anyone, but I have no time or patience to look for them now. Or maybe my posts from his first year could be retrieved to illustrate what I said as it happened. Don 't know how to even look for these however.

Otherwise you'll have to take me at my word that I said this multiple times when Wentz first came in the league.

Rams punter Corey Bojorquez homes in on roster spot

Rams punter Corey Bojorquez homes in on roster spot

THOUSAND OAKS — Corey Bojorquez came up through Mayfair High School in Lakewood and Cerritos College in Norwalk, and his family lives in Bellflower, punting distance from SoFi Stadium.

So winning a spot on the Rams’ roster would be ideal.

“My family could come to more games,” said Bojorquez (pronounced buh-hor-kez).

That’s a possibility. Bojorquez has been booming left-footed punts in his first Rams training camp. The Rams could decide to keep him on a one-year, $1.02 million contract, and cut loose Johnny Hekker before the third year of a five-year, $18.8 million contract, the NFL’s biggest at the position.

But Bojorquez won’t be disconsolate even if the Rams decide to stick with Hekker.

He’s confident he’ll land a job somewhere else, and that he’ll be an improved punter as a result of his brief homecoming.

Last April, the Buffalo Bills declined to re-sign Bojorquez despite a league-best 50.8-yard punting average in 2020, and the Rams offered a cozy landing spot.

“This was an opportunity here for me to, at the very least, learn from somebody who has done it exceptionally well for going into his 10th year,” Bojorquez, 24, said of Hekker, 31, in an interview after practice Tuesday. “I knew coming here would at the least make me a better punter if I end up somewhere else. A win-win situation.”

He thinks he has learned from Hekker, who is coming off a career-low 45.6-yard average last season but had a lot to teach his young teammate about directional punting and stopping the ball close to the goal line.

“(I’ve been) learning different kinds of punts that I’ve never tried before, that he does,” Bojorquez said.

He said he has tried to focus on that part of why he signed with the Rams, and not about the possibility of displacing a four-time All-Pro.

“I think when guys start thinking, ‘How am I doing compared to this guy?’ it gets into their head a little too much,” Bojorquez said. “I just try to focus on ‘Am I getting better?’ And I think I have been.”

Rams coaches have said nothing to indicate Hekker won’t be their punter.

But Hekker has said since spring workouts in June that he considers himself to be in competition with Bojorquez.

“If you’re not competing during training camp, you’re not in the right headspace and you’re not going to progress and be your best when September rolls around,” Hekker said earlier this month. “Corey’s a very, very talented punter.

“At the end of the day, the reality is that teams only carry one (punter), so I think whichever one of us is going to be punting for the Rams, the other one is going to get picked up very shortly thereafter.”

A complicating factor in the competition came up Saturday when Hekker and Bojorquez were both placed on the NFL’s COVID-19 reserve list after Hekker tested positive and Bojorquez was identified as a close contact, according to Coach Sean McVay.

Kicker Matt Gay stepped in as punter during the Rams’ 17-16 preseason loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Bojorquez was activated Tuesday. Hekker remained on the COVID-19 list.

The answer to which of them will end up on the season-opening roster might not come until next Tuesday, when NFL teams must trim their rosters to 53.

It could be a nervous time for Bojorquez. But he’s used to rapid changes. He was a high school soccer midfielder, baseball pitcher and football kicker-punter who committed to punting in his senior year at Mayfair, then parlayed an All-America season at Cerritos College into two seasons at New Mexico, ranking fourth in the nation with a 47.3-yard punting average as a senior.

Signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted rookie, Bojorquez thought he’d made their practice squad, but the Bills claimed him off waivers.

“The next thing I’m on a flight to Buffalo,” he said. “You kind of get used to not being too set.”

Brian Allen Is The Starting Center Of Debate

No one can be sure how this will play out, however I’ve always felt some here were a little quick writing Allen off, he pretty much redshirted his rookie season, anointed starter his 2nd and was held out of preseason, I always viewed that as a coaching mistake, talk about Baptism by Fire, I think if not for the injury he would have persevered thru the first half of the season and would have improved into a decent to very good Center.

I expect a significant upgrade over what we had last year, crossing my fingers

Pre-season Game 2 OL & RB's ...

Give me a center or give me death!

I'll give you Jordan Meredith !

LA Rams signing IOL Jordan Meredith may prove very important

by Bret Stuter3 months ago

The LA Rams are trying to make sense of the offensive center competition on the offensive line right now. There is the favorite, Austin Corbett, who can move from his right guard spot to the center position. Then there is Coleman Shelton, who has some offensive center starter experience and allows the rest of the offensive line to remain intact. And finally, there is Brian Allen, the 2019 starter at the offensive line position, but whom some consider as the weakest of the three.

The only problem is? They are all on the last year of their NFL contract.

So what of 2022? Well, the LA Rams will have another round of looking for money, because making room in 2021 required the team to push salary expense into 2022. That means that that the team will be forced to free up money once more while trying to re-sign over 20 free agents. If you didn’t enjoy the 2020 or 2021 offseason, don’t get your hopes up too high for 2022.

Right now, it appears that the 2022 offseason will have all of the major components that have plagued the Rams offseasons of late: Limited cap space, a significant number of outbound free agents, and a need to re-sign key (upwards of eight or more) starters without the obvious means to do so. How can the LA Rams counter that?

They may already have done so.

The LA Rams have built a solid reputation at finding small school gemstones, and if Western Kentucky’s Jordan Meredith pans out, the Rams are on their way to one more. The good thing is? He has a year to be coached up and develop.

Why is an undrafted free agent offensive lineman even worth mentioning now? Well, the fact is that the LA Rams saw fit to add just three offensive linemen to the roster in 2021, and as an undrafted free agent, Meredith can be carried on the practice squad this season as well.

He is a 6-foot-3 302-pound interior offensive lineman who has had plenty of experience, having started on the offensive line for three straight seasons. According to Pro Football Focus via wkusports.com, Meredith’s performance warranted an 81.5 grade for overall blocking, 83.9 grade for pass-blocking grade, and an 83.9 grade for run blocking. While that’s all well and good for Conference USA, it’s only an indicator of the potential for a successful professional football career.

Per his NFL Draft profile, Meredith has the right mindset and mechanics. He simply needs to mature with strength and conditioning, as well as expand lateral movement in pass protection. Of course, a shift to the offensive center position would help the need for Meredith to develop a quicker lateral response.

Rams vs. Raiders observations

Rams' sideline after Chris Garrett's big third down sack (and after him already tipping two balls and getting another sack not to mention a stuff of the run game behind the LOS):

View attachment 47457

Garrett made the team Saturday night. There is no question. :part:

I'm excited for this kid. I know he's young and needs playing time but if he can get the playbook down and work on his run game defense he'll be the starter sooner rather than later. Lawler and co are just stop gaps right now because Lewis can't seem to get right to play a down in the NFL. Which is a shame.

Rams OL vs Raiders

The great news about our offensive line is that all of our starters have starting experience or are trending upward.

(IMO), every one of our backups are trending upward and on schedule in their development, (with the exception of Evans and possibly Brewer);
Noteboom
Anchrum

And we have some great candidates for the practice squad that could develop out as well;
A. Jackson
Shelton
Meredith
Kolone
Pircher
Hoect

It will be interesting to see how our biggest overall team concern shakes out after the final cuts and practice squad additions.

Since we only seem to be eight or nine deep with starters and genuine backups, I would be almost surprised if they didn't pick up a teams late round cut that has a little more experience than our backups.

Our perspective gameday actives at this point;
The designated starting five and;
Noteboom T/G
Anchrum G/T
And ?

I feel pretty good with this group.
Think we have kept 7 game day active which would make Corbett the game day backup at Center.

NFL Quarterback Council 2021: Ranking the top 10 QBs in arm strength, accuracy, decision-making, rushing ability, more

It’s subjective click bait. Goff could easily be included on some of these, accuracy e.g.
Definitely the most accurate 3 yard passer in NFL history.

And leading the NFL in turnovers since 2018 might show he's really not that accurate. At least not consistently enough.

Too many passes?

Anderson will be the featured RB. No Harris, no Tutu, the 53 roster is built in their minds now. Next week is a formality to allow those players facing the cut to have film to show other teams.
Yeah.. I'm not sure that McVay will waste a preseason game trying to showcase players for other teams. This is the last time the coaches will get to evaluate and ultimately DECIDE on which bubble players get the final roster spots. JMHO, of course.

NFL Top 100 - #13 Jalen Ramsey

I have to watch that tackle against the Giants (3:05 mark) at least a dozen times every time I see it. Probably one of the best effort plays I have ever seen for a CB. Physicality is my favorite trait of his.

My buddy who is a Steelers fan was ecstatic to see him get shipped out of the conference.
Yea really glad they spoke about his tackling because its so good. At FSU he played a CB/S hybrid position and would rush the passer a lot too on blitzes. Hearing him and Talib talking on the broadcast about how Raheem Morris is going to use him, he seemed giddy! I bet we bring him down into the box more and allow him to blitz. He's such a dominant athlete he will impact the game in that role too. Dont like taking him out of coverage too often but I think it will be great to mix that in a bit.

First Look: Raiders at Rams / Joint Practices

I have no issues with Troy Reeder/ Ernest Jones being our MLB'ers! As far as the other ILB'er post it sure appears that Kenny Young has come in ready to take that post over again. I was hoping that Howard would outshine Young who I thought was an inside weak link last season. I would not count out Jake Gervase making this team as the hybrid ILB/SS. Ram may need those millions tied up in Kenny Young's contract to sign a legit veteran RB soon to come to our team when preseason concludes.

FS JuJu Hughes #23 suited up for 12 regular-season games last season. Hughes should have an edge on many of the safeties the Rams currently have signed. I have always thought that Hughes has the talent to make this team as one of the reserve free/deep safeties. With the Nick Scott knee injury, I am sure Hughes is smart enough to make sure that these extra opportunities he is now getting are used wisely. Having FS Hughes here in 2021 helps when in next March UFA Nick Scott seeks a starting post & bigger contract elsewhere.

If OLB'er #53 Justin Lawler does not get injured again he will make this Rams team this season & will prove to be a very positive addition as Floyd's backup. With Justin Hollins & Og Okoronkwo locking down the other side @ OLB'er. While Terrell Lewis is wheeled to the IR.

Eric Banks vs. Jonah Williams in the race for the Morgan Fox position......Williams appears to be the better pass rusher @ this point.....A super-sized need in this DL front!
Williams got another sack.Yeah -stupid booth dude didn’t even see a couple plays.Sad.

Garrett ?
Troy Reeder won his spot.

Juju again almost has another pick 6.IMO he is like a Troy Hill.
