Talk about making your draft count

Yeah but what if you get a starting RT out of Alaric next year? The fact that fewer UDFA's are making the team is proof of how well this roster is being built and the strength of Snead's drafts. IMO that's the point. Each year there are fewer holes to be filled and fewer to upgrade. Those upgrades meaning not just good but perhaps elite level players. Every year the bar is being raised and I for one couldn't be happier because that is exactly what we want.

This year it was good enough isn't good enough anymore.
If Alaric Jackson turns out to be a starting LT, and a good one, wow.. just... WOW!
The value that would represent both from a salary cap and draft capital perspective is just phenomenal. I was curious about him when they picked him up and just couldn't find anything to criticize in his preseason play. Glad he got so many reps and he certainly looks the part.
If they, somehow, hit on that? Man.. trading away first rounders becomes even more palatable.

Old Wars, Old Farts, and Military History

We have a lot of folks here who are either vets or dirty old war buffs or even both. So who's ready to smoke cigars and fart salt while we swap "sea stories" or other interesting military history shit.

I'll kick things off with a "cool" (well to nerdy fucks) vid. One of my favorite reads was an account of the War in the Pacific which included the drama between the leaders like Nimitz, MacArthur, etc. This is a similar vid, and starts with discussion of one red-blooded and bad MFing American in George Marshall laying down some truth.

Predicting your final 53's over the last 3 seasons (2018 - 2020)

We all think we have a good idea of how the Rams view their players after training camp and after the final preseason game ends.

We study and read and watch the preseason games over and over.

How accurate are we from our recliners?

Every year at this time, I've made some strong 53 man predictions based on my convictions and watching every preseason game 2 or 3 times.

There is always surprises and waiver claim/FA additions that we simply can't predict.

It's very interesting to look back at the last (3 years) of Rams final 53 man cuts from 2018 through 2020.

Interesting perspective & from my standpoint. I think it will look a lot different from years past.

The depth is on the defensive front
imo. RB ? Jones should clear waivers? Other wise he sticks.

Like 2018 - 3 QB’s
I also think 8 OLineman
This year only 5 WR’s
Maybe 5 TE’s ?
— I say that because of special teams. Looking at Bryce Hopkins get down on punt coverage has impressive.I also think Harris is more of a WR/Red Zone nightmare when you add The Rams WR group.
Blanton really is a beast in the middle & redzone as well. Yea Mundt & Higbee are really good as well.
Wes Phillips is The pass Game & TE’s coach.
Garret, Lewis both have so much upside. Hollins has improved a lot & will surprise. He did imo during training camp. Obo is a FA next year.
Leonard Floyd is going to have another Pro bowl type season.

The D- Front is solid.

LBers ? DB’s ?? DD ?

Injuries made some of those choices easier.

My Final 53

One place I think I could easily be wrong is ILB.
I had Howard making it, but, upon reflection, is he a player that is for sure going to be on someone else's roster? I don't feel strongly that he would.
He may very well be one of the guys they release in hopes of signing back because they need to make space for someone that is injured that they don't want to lose for the season.

@Merlin got me thinking about this a little more.
