Who's going to Philly??

I keep a low profile. I got faith in humanity. Here supporting the boys

Will report back Monday or Tuesday. Or after the game when we win.

Appreciate the looking out
You have to be smart about it. Not much you can do when so many against one fan of the other team.
When I used to go to Raiders-Rams in Oakland I wore black Carharts and a grey t shirt. Nothing matters if you get the shit beat out of you.
Some of them were very cool dudes, just Raider fans. It was all love when the Raiders made a big play. One Raider fan tried to high five me and my Raider fan buddy informed his I was a Rams fan. He acted like I had cooties after that but he was a nice guy.
It did not work out well for one drunk ass Rams fan. I seen his eyeball hanging out of his head. It was gross.
I seen one HUGE brother walk up to a father and 7 year old Rams fan, point down and scream in the kids face. What is the father supposed to do ? It was messed up.
I seen one Rams fan get beat to a pulp by 8-10 guys. Then they stood around him in a circle and pissed all over the guy.
This was Bradfords first game and Steven Jackson, looked HUGE. We were right behind the Rams bench. So afterwards I went to the rail and there was a few brave Rams fans all geared up. I was next to this black dude all geared up, he had this Rams court jester kind of hat. He was in it to win it. Now there is a price to pay if you do not show up in Rams gear. The players will not approach you, no reason to right ? Well Steven Jackson came up to that guy in the Jester hat and gave him his gloves. The fan was a super cool dude and let me try one of those sweaty gloves on. I could not believe just how sticky the grip side of those gloves were. Thats how these modern players are making these sick, one handed catches that you did not see years ago. Its tech !
It is really sad when humans act like that to one another. You should be able to respectfully root for your team in their stadium. Gangs ran that place. In the corridors behind the seats they openly smoked whatever they wanted too and colors were on full display.
I did see some Raider fans drive out of there with obvious bullet hole in their cars. Kind of a status symbol in that neighborhood. Some had full on Raider paint jobs. Got to respect that.
Now Rams fans in Phiily. Enjoy yourselves and above all, stay safe !

PREGAME Rams at Eagles Divisional Round Pregame

Probably based on the fact they have the o line and the back to just grind it out on the ground.
I know that’s no joke. That is a tough OL and barkley can be a beast, but…

The last time the eagles played on a snow covered field at home was in 2013 against Stafford! I doubt there is anybody left from that eagle team. Stafford might be the only person playing today with experience on that field under today’s conditions.

Interested in everyone's thoughts on slowing Philly run game

I haven’t seen anybody else comment on that play. That was such bullshit… literally the play is ongoing with the whistle just being blown and they called it.
The first of several bad calls/non calls that game. That was a legit block since the runner was not ruled down.

Luckily, if the NFL tells refs to favor any team in this game, you'd have to think it will be the Rams. What a great story for the NFL to have the NFC Championship in the greatest stadium on the planet in a city that has been suffering so much. There is much more of a good feel story line with the LAR/WAS matchup IMO.

That said, it would be the first time the refs have favored us, seemingly ever. (yeah, I know it was a facemask)

CONTEST 2024 ROD Pick’em and Survivor Leagues

Thanks to everyone here for the kind words. :thumbsup1:
This is testament that anyone can win in this! As I mentioned earlier, I've usually been out of serious contention for the regular pick'em by around the halfway mark of the seasons past. Then in Survivor, I've been knocked out I think twice in the first 2 weeks, and been out by week 3 before.

Survivor does indeed get tough down towards the end, with not much to work with 'cept mostly garbage teams left...and I somehow never used the Chiefs this year.

Congrats to Survivor co-champ @elb5277!

Put up one heck of a fight! And we both got taken out by the same team at the same time...the damn Colts!

Anyways....yeah, those banners look prettay, prettay, prettay good there! Now I'm gonna have to post a good bit more than I have been to show them off!

Thanks again!

If the Super Bowl is in our future does…

To be fair a lot of us have a drink every Rams game. It's once a week and part of the culture. I wouldn't say (or admit) that's an issue
People love to judge man.

Just so happens I am an alcoholic, but I am ok with beer as long as I don't drink them too fast. Had a good laugh watching Landman, the main character trying to explain that to the bartender. Tells me the dude who wrote that series knows what's up.

Liquor makes me jones. Most uncomfortable feeling for me, deep from the gut, like a dull ache. Wine is iffy, but I can usually get away with it if I take it real easy. But one shot of liquor and it requires massive control. Just not worth it and it's a shame because I love scotch.

Snaps vs Phi

As I recall, McClendon got absolutely abused in this game. Havenstein at RT is a huge upgrade.

And Higbee looked awesome vs. MIN.
Yeah, Brandon Graham absolutely destroyed McClendon the majority of the game. Graham is out for the year (possibly career ender) and barring catastrophe we won't see McClendon either. That and Avila was still getting his legs back under him imo... he really struggled for a few games after he came back from injury. That was also around when they gave up on Parkinson as the main TE and started experimenting with a rotation which did not have great success. Higbee brings consistency there and is an actual weapon running routes too. Assuming the weather doesn't neuter them the offense should be much better than they were the last meeting.

As I pass DaveFan'51 for number of posts...

it’s weird, I never met Dave, only chatted with him on threads here on ROD. When I learned he passed it was strange that hit me hard.

I was a lot more harsh years back and he always commented with his never ending optimistic outlook on things. He was a respectful poster and fun poster at the same time. I came across pictures of him and his granddaughter about a month ago after all these years that made me smile real big. I hope she’s doing okay, I wouldn’t mind sending her a Rams/care package.

Some of the people you come across that make an impact in your life for the better just being who they are.

"Respect All, Fear None"

McVay quoting the late, great Bum Phillips, and no doubt others who said it before him, I see.

My favourite Bum quote was this:

(when asked by Bob Costas why he took his wife on all of the Oilers' road trips) "Because she's too ugly to kiss goodbye."

Probably not a problem Sean faces with Veronika.
With an "ugly" quote like that, we can safely assume that Bum was not getting laid anymore.
