James Bradberry is worth the investment!

I agree with @Merlin on Durant; I loved this kid's tape. I don't know if he'll be Dre Bly, but to say that Hill automatically starts over him because he's a rookie doesn't mean much to me; this kid has elite ball skills, elite coverage, only in a smaller package.

Kendrick is also interesting. Rochell, in all honesty, will lock down a starting spot. Hill is definitely insurance, given how hot and cold he gets.

American Underdog

When a guy like Kurt Warner steps into a difficult marriage…He’s the winner. The Rams were the vehicle to tell his story.
Except that's the problem, the Rams arent portrayed as the "vehicle" to tell his story.
Why couldnt they tell the truth? It surely tells as good, if not better story.
The Rams believed in him when nobody else did. They signed him to a futures contract (late 1997) and sent him to Europe league to develop. And develop he did, leading league in yardage and TD passes. Earned a spot on the 1998 team where he even saw some playing time. They sure made a big deal about how far away from home he was when playing for the Barnstormers, but yet no mention of the time he spent in Amsterdam, living apart from his wife and kids half a world away? Yeah, I get it, Kurt doesnt want to talk about that either.....
Kurt is a great guy, and has his flaws like everyone else. The story of him showing up at her house unannounced and playing with her kids is amazing. But there is another side to all of this, and the minimizing the Rams, while accentuating the efforts of his college coach and arena owner to me shows his bitterness towards the team.

Projected Pass Blocking Rankings

That run blocking concern is sure to have something to do with the change @ TE caoch with Thomas Brown our Assist Head Coach & now TE coach this season. The weak run blocking support turned in over the last half of the regular season & the four post-season games were in need of serious upgrading. Thus we see Brown assigned to attack & beef up this major deficiency.

Kyle Markway, Roger Carter, Jamal Pettigrew are newly signed TE's to this TE unit. Markway arrive here late last season in December, thus all three will be new to the Rams camps. Hopely one can replace Johnny Mundt's run blocking this year. The fact is both Kendall Blanton & Brycen Hopkins need to enhance their run blocking skills too.

I don't see McVay/Carberry remaining with a starting OG who did not improve in his run blocking from 2021 to 2022 season. Edwards is well aware that this is in his last season under contract here in LA. What he does this season will surely have a major impact on his NFL career going forward. Of course which will be calculated if he remains or goes. There is much involved for Edwards to achieve to have his best season in 2022.
I'll keep saying this.. as nice as it would be to see better run blocking.. I just don't think it's that high a priority.
Getting Robinson made sure that they would be able to go 4 and 5 wide regularly... I just think they're going to be even more pass-centric than ever. We'll see if that's the right call.. but, based on personnel.. I think it is.

Running will be more of a "keep 'em honest" concept.. and I think they'll run the ball well enough for that.

This Stat Surprised Me.....

If OBJ and Higbee were playing this would have been a blowout. This Super Bowl would have been 30 something to 10.

IMO the team to beat in the AFC will be Buffalo. They are solid on both sides of the ball with an ascending QB. That is the one team in the AFC I don't want to play in the Super Bowl. The Rams match up well as they do against the Rams. The Rams would need to be totally healthy. If they are they are going to be very tough to beat by any team.

Everyone talks about the AFCW but it's the Bills that IMO who should be the favorites in the AFC. In the NFC I don't see a team that matches up well with a healthy Rams team. The Rams wouid have to give the game away with sloppy play to lose to an NFC team. If the Rams can trade for an edge like Hunter, and sign OBJ this will have the makings of another SB run with no doubt.

RIP Mickey Gilley

His bar Gilley’s was a legendary cowboy bar in the Houston area and featured in the movie Urban Cowboy. I wasn’t a big country fan of his, but his restaurant and theater were almost must see events in Branson, Mo when I drove charter bus groups through that town on holidays.
One time I was taking a leak in his men’s restroom, and another guy occupied the urinal next to me and it was him, clearly enjoying his shocking me by showing up unexpectedly in such a situation. Rest In Peace, Mickey, you’ve earned a rest.

Bobby Evans The Enigma

Not nearly as much as resigning an OT Rob Haventein who would be an 8 yr veteran of over 100 games started with several SB rings.

No doubt Havenstein in free agency will command sizable dollars, and as we have seen with Corbett during this pre-season free agency period, Edwards will also be in line for a big raise. Corbett may or may not be considered for a secondary role as a Center as was so widely speculated by the Rams last year, Edwards may or may not be considered for a secondary role as a RT, but either way for both these guys, just the thought for them having the flexibility to play a cross-trained swing role boosts their value some on the open market. Both players will be expensive to retain next year.
Hopefully the Rams now have their future starting RG set, and they did draft depth at RT with Arcuri, one spot above Mr. Irrelevent's pick #262. Whether Arcuri stuns us as did Alaric Jackson last year talent-wise is still unproven, although I'll be surprised if he gets past the practice squad in 2022 unless there happens to be an injury. The Rams also acquired a projected OG as a UDFA, that being Jack Snyder, also a likely practice squad developmental player, and whether he'll be cross-trained as a Center is unannounced as yet.
The Rams brought in several UDFA's at various positions, how many actually make the team's 53 roster or practice squad is still very much in question, and there does remain another post camp free agency period if there are any personnel gaps remaining.
jmo.

My only issue with our draft

IMO, Bruss is much better suited for Guard then tackle and 6'5 310lbs is not bad I also believe the reason that Snead prefers that prototype is because they pass block better. It's easier to teach someone to run block, but pass blocking is more of an art.

Now I believe Bruss is more of a natural guard than Edwards so I believe he'll fit well at RG and even offer more in the run game then Corbett did. However, again, I can't disagree with the success because the goal is to keep #9 clean and with the addition of Bruss at RG and only giving up one sack outside, should make his adjustment to the next level, that much easier IMHO.

The funny thing is the relationship they all have in Edwards & Havenstien. It was Mcvay who has stated the goal is to have Bruss starting from day 1 at RG next to the Veteran Leader in Big Rob.

Don’t know what you mean by success & goals if #9. I do agree that Bruss could be better than Corbett. Then again it’s still early I think a lot of things can happen from now & the first week of September.

What I liked is even though BubbaRam say Edwards is never going to play LT it was nice to see both him &’AJ Jackson got that bit of experience.Add The Rams won the game as well.

Derion Kendrick, CB Pick #212 - 6th round

My doubt? I said I felt a lot better about the CB (and S) room since reaquiring Hill and drafting those DBs. Or are you talking about my doubt prior to that?
Robert Rochelle & David Long.Yes Hill is a solid piece who is a proven CB.I think the concern was having an extra CB to replace D. Williams.

RR31 looks like the best pure CB besides RAMsey. His Willingness to learn & skill set is there, now he just has to prove it.David Long & Hill have played 2 seasons together competing.Hill is the better of the 3 because of experience & his fit with The Rams defensive scheme.
The cool thing about Hill & Long is they can switch (interlock) between there skill sets making it easier for them to switch & confuse the offense. Hill is such a willing tackler & Long just needs that confidence or push to get better. He is on the cusp & working again with Hill should bring that out.
These young draft picks will find it hard to break into the 48 on game day.

My Stab At Full Schedule (bored)

Yes. Didn't really hardcore it as far as looking at the International games and eliminating certain things.
As far as your first point, I totally disagree. Very similar as last year in regards to Division games.
Our third division game last year was week 10. This has it four weeks earlier. Slight difference but noticable in that the league likes games that matter later in the season. I’d wager at least both Niner games are second half of the schedule. Not a huge criticism just something we’ve seen them switch to in recent years. I wonder if KC wouldn’t be a primetime game but that would likely be the game of the week type national audience
