So I was thinking about this as I listened to a couple qualifying songs for me tonight. What is the best opening rif/sequence for a song for you? For me it's probably Layla. He starts in on that guitar and it just sends a shiver down the spine and you know you're in for a ride. Another great one but not a guitar for me is Stevie Wonder Superstition!

Start off with that drums and then it just kicks in the head starts boppin you're looking for that drink to start sippin` and enjoy the ride.
Back to guitar it's hard to pass up a couple greats that are no longer with us.

There's also what is in a lot of respects the song that started a lot of it off with this guitar style.

Like some others on here it's a short opener but it might slightly edge out Layla for me would be one of the greatest guitarists of all time

And I might prefer George Harrison playing it he's so underrated as a guitarist.

Lets end with a Combo that just is too much great guitar play on one stage together.

Good ones, there.

I like the intros on several Metallica songs.

Paul Wrath, lead singer and guitarist died at 27 years old yesterday. Too young and didn't get a big enough serving to enjoy life. Or even recognize how successful his global career had the potential to become:

Prince was an underrated guitarist. To this day, the rumor is that guitar never fell back down to Earth.
When I was in college, I worked nights. Eating a bowl of mac and cheese with salsa on top of it at 3 am was a usual thing for me. One night I had the television on while I was in the kitchen. I heard someone absolutely shredding the guitar. When I rounded the corner to see who it was, I was amazed to find out it was Prince. He was very underrated as a guitarist.

I am sure that all of us love the song "Let it Go" from the Disney Movie "Frozen." I particularly love this version. Give it a watch and feel the magic.....

perfect example of media rejection of something that is different. i'm not a fan of this particular style of singing, but i sure as hell can't stand listening to the disney version after watching the movie with grandkids. but yet, i did give it a full listen, unlike mainstream party girl in the video
