It could happen, but right after the draft is a risky proposition. They won’t know how a newly drafted Corner will handle the defensive system.

It could be a safer bet to think they could trade him by the deadline if he’s not needed.
that is they way the Rams will most likely go especially after seeing the cap hit that @Allen2McVay so eloquently communicated.

We still need a CB1 but it's a nice vet signing. Interesting with all these 1 year deals.
Doesn't it seem like there are FAR more one year deals being handed out this year? Not just by us but the NFL in general. Maybe it's just my imagination but it sure appears that way.

Yeah but I feel like there are athletic 1rd dbs every year or so, and some of them fall to the later picks, like Mitchell and Dejean did for Philly.
Only reason those two fell and Verse for that matter, was due to run on QB’s last year. That wont be the case this draft.

I concur, however, I remember some that I coached with would put the Sushi in the doughnut hole and consume it that way and call it brunch. Believe me I always shook my head in disdain.
Yikes.....
I knew a guy who would have his nightly cocktail of gin mixed with crushed ice, fresh mint and....wait for it....a bottle of NyQuil.
Just mix it all up and sip it down.
Haven't spoken to him in years but I assume he is on a transplant wait list somewhere....

This draft, yes, but that doesn’t mean other drafts

Edit: here are some other notable cbs that were drafted outside of the top 10 recently

2021: AJ Terrell, pick 16, 2nd team All-Pro
2022: Trent McDuffie, pick 21, 1st team All-Pro
2023: Christian Gonzalez, pick 17, 2nd team All-Pro

As far as cutting cap space, he's about the best guy we have to cut. Bank about $7 mil
Not according to Over-The-Cap.

Per OTC, the Rams don't save a dollar in 2025 by releasing Darious Williams.

Maybe I don't know as well as you. I see he has a cap charge $9.2 mil and a dead cap charge of About $2.3 mil.

Freaking Funny - cap is cap. Your saying CUT D.Williams??

Sometimes I wonder what games some of the posters here watch ??
From what I saw was his TOUGHNESS against the Run.

Having Spoon back helps taller WR’s there skill sets benefit each other. The depth is the most important if you want to make a Superbowl run.

Who knows after the draft ?!

He was really clutch last year, always making huge plays at the right moment. In particular is interception against Arizona to seal the game. I love this free agency period. The Rams are really addressing needs nicely without breaking the bank. Much better than past years free agency periods.

I don't know any more than you. We must be looking at two different sources. From what I am seeing, the Rams OTC page has no cap relief by releasing Darious Williams, with a pre or post June designation.

I was looking at Spotrac. It states that his cap hit is $9,166,666 and his dead cap is $2,333,333 for 2025 and $1,333,333 for 2026. There might be other factors.

Yes, that is what Spotrac is saying. Maybe that's correct but Spotrac has not been updated in over a week, and has the Rams under the salary cap.

It appears that the site is also counting Kupp twice against the cap. Finally, there's a note that $8M of Williams' contract became guaranteed five days after the start of the 2025 League Year.

These sites (OTC and Spotrac) are not always accurate but I think in the case of Williams, Spotrac is wrong.
