If I'm not mistaken, Schottenhiemer interviewed for the Vandy job last year and lost out of Derrick Mason. I wonder if Vandy regrets that decision as after his first season Mason has already fired four of his 10 assistants, including his offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator.

I wish he wasn't, but there's a bigger chance that he stays then goes.

Unless of course the players started suddenly disliking him a'la Scott Linehan but I don't foresee that happening - who knows though after Jared Cook's last rant.

Even though I dislike his play calling the fact that he has had QB issues probably covers him. I'd bet he returns.

I can only hope a college team like Colorado State University who hired Steve Fairchild several years ago come calling for Schottenheimer. There is also a chance he takes a college gig as OC at a major program like at Michigan if Greg Schiano is hired, but most likely Fisher stays the course and like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Schotty will be back to the chagrin of most Ram fans.

If he is, I'd hope that the Rams could bring in some sort of running game coordinator or something. Sorry, Mr. Boudreau, but Schotty needs more help.

My gut says he will be back...but i also thought no way Fisher would dump Walton after one year.

I have mixed thoughts on Schotty. I think the system is fine...and i think the group we have knows it well and can grow into it even more. But i get so frustrated with the play calling. The last game especially.

If I were Schotty I would take an OC or HC job at the college level even if it meant a small school. I would then challenge myself to get downright radical with my offensive concepts and get better at teaching players to execute those concepts at a high level. I'd probably polish up my ability to run the offensive staff, too, in order to let them know my expectations and get everyone on the same page.

That, IMO, is what he needs to work on, and it's hard to do so in the NFL with all the pressure of winning, firings year to year, and fans and owners looking to chop your head off if you don't amaze. He needs work, and it's not gonna happen for him in the NFL IMO. So here's hoping Den is right and we see him go that route.

I think Schotty will suddenly seem like a much better play caller when we get some better interior Olinemen, and Bradford comes back healthy next year.
This is what I'm hoping if he is still here but it wouldn't hurt to get a little more creative as well.

Yeah well I couldn't agree more:cheers:

I'm afraid we may be in the minority around here on that one, I'd be happy if Bradford could be ready to start around the 5th game next year.

Please God no! I'll take Murmur over him... Or Martz or anybOdy that last name starts with a M

Exactly. I've seen WAY too many replays with guys wide fucking open that our rookie and journeyman QBs didn't. It ain't Schotty guys.

Or maybe a "quality control" guy to tap him on the shoulder once I a while and remind him of what has worked, what isn't working, and what the other team's D is trying to do.

Chairman Mao!

(Technically, it's not his LAST name, though it is his family name...)
