I think we can all admit Goff and the entire offense has been down this year. But I wanted us to take a stroll down memory lane to the last two seasons. It honestly looks like we’re watching a different QB. IMO, something happened during the bye week last year that caused him to regress. Or maybe he had a concussion or injury we didn’t know about. He’s a few good games this year(Saints, Seahawks, Falcons, Bengals), but overall hasn’t looked the same.

These are all the reasons we gave him $134 million.

Watch those highlights and tell me that’s a guy who can’t get it done. There is something deeper going on that we don’t know about.

They're just keeping everything bottled up until the new stadium opens. ;)

I would like to agree but it's been a long time that he's looked good, not just this season but half of last season too. I'm hoping that he uses this offseason to study more film. He needs to read defenses faster and stop locking onto his primary target. Luckily for us he appears to he s hard worker with a desire to become better. He definitely has all the tools to succeed , just need to put in the wotk.

He'll be fine, he's having a bad season. He's missing throws he normally makes, the team around him has also been inconsistent so its made him look even worse. I'm not starting over with another quarterback and eating all that money. This man can make every throw I want him to be able to make. Goff isn't the disease, but he is a symptom.

Context is literally everything to me. If Goff had been truly f*cking awful, (He has been in some games) where the protection was there and Gurley was looking like his old self, I'd be more willing to can him. But there are too many fuck ups altogether. He's still in there, the man who can shred you from the pocket is still in there. It would be one thing if his team was doing him favors, but they aren't. Is he earning his pay check? No. I don't give a fuck, he's allowed to have a bad season. If this continues next season, then we can talk about benching his ass. But one thing I'm not going to do, is put the entire dysfunctional offense on one guys shoulders. What do I look like? Booger McFarland?

Happy thanksgiving.

I like Goffy enough. I think he'll always be half way in between good and great. But only "great" in certain games now and then. But he's above average for sure.

Going to be difficult to recreate 2017 and 2018. Teams have three years studying McVay's offense. They're onto him now.

We need Goff to be better than he was. Not be buffaloed by what opposing DCs are doing to him but get by on guile and wits even when the game plan isn't going to script. Be the difference in close games and outplay the QB on the other sideline.

Players who can do that have long careers in this league. Maybe Goff can be that guy but I have my doubts.

Lol literally watching the other guys Goff was drafted with, and its not looking pretty for any of them at the moment. I guess everyone has QB problems; what a time to be alive.

ive been very critical of him in my off the net convos and other boards.

He's not awful but the things hes naturally bad (slow footed, slow eyes, slow wind up) at become gamebreaking flaws when O-line is bad/getting out classed.

For all the money he is being paid, he should have SOME ability to influence the game outside of the offensive being perfect with little to no pressure.

But i cant blame him for taking that money either

At times Goff has played great. To be great he needs to play "to an extent, amount or intensity considerably above the normal or average". Dismissing the dumpster fire of an offense that he had to lead for half of his rookie season, he is still a ways away from being a great NFL QB. I have faith his consistency and "quiet" intensity will improve but for now it is a couple steps below great.

Been watching a lot of last year vs this year Goff stuff.
That release speed went from above average to below average. It's shocking when you really start to look at it.

Yeah i know i keep hammering on this but when your pass protection gets worse AND the release gets slower....

You guys aren't wrong. It seems as if he's trying to process more and its causing a myriad of issues. I love the fact he's trying to read defenses. It will take him to the next level. But the question is will he ever be good at it. I've always said, this year he's been in an ugly cocoon for most of the year. Sean is attempting to make a butterfly within his own offense. The returns have not been rewarding. But its best we deal with it now. If he doesn't improve going into next year or even finish this year strong; there might be more cause for concern. I still believe in the guy though. He's my guy, for better or worse. Until worse continues to become a problem for multiple seasons.

I have felt this too.

Goff isn't feel great about his feet so the transfer is putting the weight into the arm and the is elongating his release.

Anyone else get a bit of a feeling that the media 'hype' of Mcvay quarter-backing from the sideline until 15 seconds fed more into the offseason progression than the 6-1 formation and the idea of just blowing up the offensive line with vertical pressure?
