Yeah, I'm in the boat of not using any of our premium draft capital to move up, particularly for a guy that (we would all hope) won't take a single snap this season. With as many gaping holes on the roster, this is a formula for us to not be good this season. If we aren't good next season, we are setting for a franchise QB in the draft next year, which would make the pick even worse, I suppose.

I can totally see McVay doing it though.

Hearing a rumor the Rams maybe trade into the late 1st to grab Hooker. Not sure I like it but I would understand if they are high on him

Mahomes was viewed as a project too. Andy Reid and Asshole Face saw it differently and turned out to be right.

Think of this too. McVay was hard on Goff for not grasping the offense completely. Hooker scored 64% on the S2 cognitive test. That measure your ability to think fast/ process. I don’t see the fit with McVay. Jaran Hall, on the other hand scored 92%. I’m hoping it’s a smoke screen and not McVay falling in love with a prospect.

I see what you’re saying. A word of caution: the CEO of the S2 testing company said those numbers were false. I don’t think he just meant that 18, either, so I wouldn’t make any judgments based on those numbers. We don’t know what their scores were.

I don't like the blowhards like Kiper but he raises a good point about trading into the bottom of the first for the fifth year option.

If they think Hooker is their guy, I'm down for it. Stafford has at MOST two years left at this point

Two questions with the Hooker pick though:

1. Next year we should have a top 10 pick due to our depleted roster. Why not pick your QB then?

2. Kupp and Donald window is closing. Do we really want to wait on a QB to develop like Hooker or use the premium picks now to make a run while Kupp/Donald/Stafford are here?

The one and only thing I don't care for is his age.

I think the window is closed with the construction of the roster currently. If they really like Hooker, jumpstart a fresh start by getting him now.

If we moved up for Hooker, I'd trust McVay. I like Hooker. I think given time to adjust to a NFL system, he can be a quality QB.
I agree. If it saves the Rams from being in QB purgatory for ten years after Stafford retires, then it’s worth trading up.

I expect Seattle may take him with their second first round pick.

I think if they do move up and grab Hooker, that shows they really want him to sit behind Staff for a season and learn from him and really digest the system and start next year. Which I get. It's either that or possibly rely on a rookie qb to be your starter next season.

I think if they do grab a qb tonight, it shows hiw confident they are in Staff staying around for more than this season.

Yeah, I could get onboard with Hooker, if the Rams are.

He has an NFL arm.

I'm almost at the point that I'll be disappointed if they dont move up and draft him in 1st round

He said some of them were false. I saw it as a PR move. He’s covering his butt imo. He also made it sound like Stroud just didn’t want to take the test and was tired and miserable, without naming him.

My guess is they were accurate.

Concern I'd have with Stroud is his general give-a-fuck. He doesn't care about the Mannings or what they think. Doesn't care about the S2 test. The guy is immensely talented but time has demonstrated that talent alone is not enough at QB at this level. Is he gonna do the work?

Think I'd pass on him. He reminds me of some kid who just got asked to do chores and is disgusted by the thought.

That is the big question. Have they closed to door? Or will they try something next year for AD/Staffords last push?
