Thought this would be light but interesting.

Who was the head coach and quarterback when you first became a Rams fan?

For me it was Tommy Prothro and Roman Gabriel. The 49ers were our arch enemy, Dick Nolan as head coach and John Bodie as QB.

Ray Malavasi with Ferragamo and Haden from my deepest recollection.
However rumor has it that I became a Rams fan because of Joe Namath, and that would be Chuck Knox. I honestly don't remember that

I know that I was confused a little watching NFL games when I was 4-5 years old. I remember Roman Gabriel, but I didn't remember the HC. The first season that I really had a grasp of things was in 1973. Chuck Knox and John Hadl and Merlin Olsen!

Bob Waterfield was the head coach and Zeke Bratkowski was the starting QB. This would be 1961.

Similar to Dieter; I was already a Rams fan but the signing of Joe Namath was about the time I started learning their names. I was about 8.

Billy Wade and Sid Gilman - 1958

Chuck Knox, John Hadl, James Harris, Pat Haden, Joe Namath. I used to go to training camp at Cal State Fullerton every summer. They drove Joe Willie in a Buick from the locker room to the practice field.
Same group of names. I remember my dad talking about Roman Gabriel, and I watched NFL films too, so I was familiar with the old timers also.

1974 Chuck Knox, James Harris & Lawrence McCutcheon. But, at age 7 here, it was Cappalletti that caught my attention.

The first coach/QB combo I remember would be John Robinson with Jim Everett as quarterback in 1987. I only watched them occasionally prior to that (about 1984, I think)

‘88-‘89 years is what I remember the most. Robinson/Everett. Ellard and Flipper. (Oh, how my dad despised Georgia Frontiere!)

I vaguely remember Dickerson, but became more immersed in all things Rams in the late 80’s.

It went down hill pretty quick for me as a fan after that...90’s were painful as the Rams descended and the Niners were a premier team (screw Rice/Montana, and that slant they’d run all the damn time).

We got some reprieve in ‘99-‘01. But I felt we blew an opportunity to be a true dynasty. Especially when we had 3 first round picks to play with in ‘01.

And then pure, absolute misery for 15 years.

We deserve a re-birth! I hope McVay/Goff are the real deal for a decade!
