The third round pick that year was, slightly more impressive.
 
So the Rams didn't have a first round pick in 87, so their first pick was second rounder Donald Evans....no I don't know who that is either.

Evans was a great athlete without a position. The Rams tried him unsuccessfully as an undersized DE, LB and FB. One more example of why you should select football players and not just athletic freaks.
 
In 1944 it was FB Tony Butkovivh -Purdue- #1 Rusher in the Nation!

The Rams had 2 first round picks in 1962 with the first(2nd pick in the draft) being this guy:
