Why would we want to get rid of our only OL that was healthy all year and was pretty good again as well? And spend a 1st round pick on a position that's already solid instead of on a position we could and should improve? I don't get this.
I was talking about in 26' if things change with him in regards to health, performance; etc.. the $16M in savings would come into play next year. It was just a thought and there is a reason his deal was structured in that fashion. They may not trust that he will continue to be playing at this level.

Anyway, just saying don't be surprised if they address the interior OL. They may not want to pay both Avilla & Dotson big money 2 yrs from now.

They've put a focus on the OL lately I don't see how they will cut one of their better OL after the season. Again it makes zero sense but hey teams do things we don't like or think they should so anything could happen. And they don't have to address the OL with a 1st round pick there are plenty of Guards we could take in the 6th that would be good depth.

I guess this is the right place to put this, but Tony Pauline said that people at the Ohio state pro Day "think the run on receivers "starts with the Seahawks and ends at 26 with the Rams."

2 years from now Dotson's contract will look pretty palatable.

So maybe that was the reason roseboom improved. Lake started making the calls.
That’s what I read. Lake’s play and wearing the green dot freed up the linebackers to just react and play faster.

Emmanwori is more athletic than Lake and supposedly has great instincts. He’s a SS, but if he was drafted to play the Star, that is basically what they had Ramsey doing. Ramsey was their highest paid corner and a star. Emmanwori makes a lot of sense for the future.

That being said, I think the Rams go offense with their first pick.

You are bolder than me. Think Higgins can be had even if we trade back.
Higgins is trending up to an early 50s position on Mock Drafts but to CGI’s (and other posters point) if the Rams really want him with their R1.26 pick, he should be available and could be their pick at R1.26.

Yeah I just don't think he'll go in the 1st. Most likely to peak at top of the 2nd. I'd rather the Rams trade back in this scenario.

Need somebody to want to trade up in order to trade back
Exactly. You can't trade if you don't have a partner.

And if it's one of the teams from 27-32, they're our direct rivals next season, so why would we trade with them?

If it's a team at the top of the second round, it would need to be a good deal for us to consider a trade. I would consider a trade with anyone up to and including the Jets at 42, seeing that San Fran pick at 43.... if we receive a good offer.

If there is a top CB with size and speed on the board at 26 you have to take him.
Ramsey was the Rams top cornerback and the Rams had him playing the Star position. If SS Emmanwori is available at 26, and they had him take over at the Star, when Lake goes in free agency, isn’t that just as valuable as having Ramsey, a corner at the Star position?

I just dont like the idea of 5'10" CBs cover 6'4" WRs. Play Lake at the star and the 1st rd CB play outside, improves the team, IMO, but I have been wrong a time or 2, but dont tell my wife.

So instead of a true #1 CB or a playmaker at WR or TE we'll go for depth on OL in the first round? Makes absolutely no sense for our first pick to be a depth player.
Makes some sense, how many games have the Rams won the last 3 years when 1 or more starting offensive are on the disabled list? I understand both philosophies are of need and both can be right at the same time. Depends where we get our injuries this year, o-line, WR, secondary, d-line, who knows or can foresee.
