Yeah, I think Taylen Green has a real shot of being special. You can't teach 6'6", 230 lbs. and 4.5 speed. I really liked the kid's game when Mizzou played Arkansas.

There's a difference in a Goff talent vs one of those bluechip QBs who sometimes grace that 1 overall spot.

If Goff was a blue chip talent the titans would have never traded with the Rams, especially down to the #15 slot.

And teams that need a qb need to overpay to get one in the draft if they don't have a high pick.

Everyone said the Rams overpaid for Goff but they had no other choice. And if someone like luck was there they would never of had the chance to trade up and get him from the 15 slot.

Agreed.

If by some miracle Arch Manning were to win a title this year at Texas and/or even just show prodigious talent then jump to the NFL, that top pick may not be up for trade. Same with any of these others btw if they manage to show themselves to be at that level as a prospect.

This is why what the Rams are going to do is take a project like Mahomes and hope they hit like KC did.

I realize the thread topic; and appreciate the need for a QB of the future.

However, I keep coming-back to the Rams being in a position of drafting one of the top-two WRs, CBs or OTs with the higher of the two first round picks; and one of the top 3-to-4 WRs, CBs or OTs with the other #1 pick.
And do what about QB?

They are both equally improbable.
There is no chance to Bengals trade Burrow
That was my point though, there was NO chance Dallas would trade Luka, but they did.
Likely Burrow gets traded? NO, I agree with you but werid things happen sometimes.

Well, of course.
But there is a history of Arch Manning's uncle Eli refusing to play for a team that drafted him. With multiple first round picks, this should put the Rams in a position to draft whoever they want... Arch could help direct the process if he wanted....
Still a pipe dream.

If the Rams have the season we expect they'll still be playing games after the declaration deadline.
They might not even know if they want him or someone else at that time as the coaches would not have even been involved in the evaluation process yet.

And multiple 1st round picks doesn't guarantee anything.

On a side note, there's also a chance that Manning really isn't that good a QB. Sure, he's a Manning, but Eli was too and he wasn't nearly as good as Peyton, IMO. Arch might not even be nearly as good as Eli.

To get #1 overall you need two things: the team at that spot has zero desire to draft a qb and you pay more. so at New England sucks and maybe shows but then gets injured (not rooting for it), then you have a shot. Or pray sanders actually is good but the Browns or Jags are awful. Then you also have to hope Pennix is bad and the Falcons are 5-12. 8-9 won’t do it. Because no horrible team wants to go down too far. Then you probably still have to give next year’s 1 and maybe even next year’s 2 (in addition to the two 1s and a 2). Anyway, it will be a lot.

more realistic is trading into top ten for much less and for a qb that isn’t such a sure thing but talented, all the same.

No Idea.

I think it would be a mistake for the Rams to force drafting a Quarterback in Round One next year simply because they have an extra first round pick. I am not assuming they will do that.

It's certainly a strong possibility (they draft a RD 1 QB) but there are so many factors beyond their control.

It makes sense to speculate; and it will be fun to watch the 2026 college QBs and see how things progress. However, it's far from given that the Rams will select a quarterback in Round One of 2026.

Right. So we can hope for Patrick Mahomes then.

On a side note, Luka trade wasn’t a complete surprise, Players change teams all the time in the NBA. Comparing a player transaction in the NBA to NFL is about as apples to oranges as one can get.

What if Burrow refuses to play anymore for Cincinnati and forces a trade? things happen in sports. Nothing is guaranteed. See Kurt Warner and Joe Montana.

Kurt Warner and Joe Montana? Really reaching.
Kurt Warner. Joe Montana and Peyton Manning examples all have common threads.
Mid-to late 30’s players who missed a season due to injury, and upon their return the team had decided to move forward in another direction.
So unless Burrow can magically age 5-7 years, miss next year with an injury and Browning replaces him with HOF level, it’s really no comparison.
I guess those who dream of this fantasy coming thru can wish for a near career ending injury for Burrow.

I'm not dreaming of this fantasy coming true... just thinking that anything can happen in sports. Or in life, as we have all experienced.

Yup. Stetson Bennett could lead the Rams to a Superbowl this season. I mean, anything can happen right?

Even if he did, the Rams would have no shot at him. (Assuming that Atlanta doesnt shit the bed)
It can be done

Both our 2026 1st round picks; 2027 1st; 2026 2nd perhaps with a player included

Never say never but it looks like there will be more than one QB in play, so perhaps they end up liking someone who has more college experience

However it plays out we need to try and draft the best prospect as opposed to settling for 2nd best, so if it’s Arch Manning, we will probably decide to go with “fuck them picks”

This could go either way here as Arch's legs and feet are more similar to his grandfather Archie then Peyton or Eli, he is a far better athlete then either of his Uncle's. Also he was a five star recruit, he was the top ranked player of the 2023 draft class and I understand you get some of that by name, but not all of it.

He did showcase talent at Texas and one would surmise, why didn't Steve Sarkisian go with Manning over Ewers, as Ewers seem to shrink at times when pressured? But Sarkisian chose to go with the Veteran and was one play away from tying Ohio State, which in turn, could have gone either way if that happen.

Manning has waited his turn as he easily could have transferred, but didn't and you and I also disagree on how good Texas is going to be this year, barring injury, I expect Texas and Manning to be one of the best teams in college football, although I will be rooting hard for them to lose their first game, but do not expect it. I also believe with a huge run in the college football playoff, I expect Manning to come out in 2026. Now he could stay, but I am expecting such a big year from him, I expect him to declare for the draft and things have change dramatically since his Uncle's were in college too.

That all sounds nice but, picking 32 for the next 3 seasons isn't going to get us a QB successor. Probably need to strike when we have the ammo. No WR, CB, OT, etc is going to be more valuable to us then a QB successor. All the better that they get to sit the bench and learn from Staff.
