Where did you get your RAMS news back in the day?

When I was a kid in LA, I just when I could on Sundays....I lived in Houston and Sacramento unti I was an adult, so all I got was box score (pre-cable). I was stationed on a ship in the 80's and was in dry dock in Long beach, so I'd get the the OC Register...

I seems to recall a national weekly paper type publication known as Rampages.I'm talking late 60's early 70"s. Along with the Herald and the Times. A writer named Bob Oates comes to mind as well as Melvin Durslag. Jim Murray delivered the funny side of the story occasionally too.

Back in the mid 90's in my early 20's I ordered what i believe was the Rams "Rampages" it cost a pretty penny to get it delivered to Canada, plus exchange rate. Oh and it was like 3 months out of date but I got my fix LMAO.
That and any CBS / FOX /NBC /CNN Scott Earl Van Wright.

Then in 1996 my soon to be bro in law intro me to the inter web lol

Damn Train, you are an ancient. Hadn't heard much mention of the L.A. Herald Examiner in many years. It was the more conservative answer to the L.A. Times back in the day, and chose to bankrupt rather than pay employees better. One of their star photographers was my dad's best friend, and he provided tickets to any number of events. His name was Jim-Doug Wilson and his most well known picture hung in the White House for a time, you may have seen it as it was widely published. He was killed with my father in a motorcycle accident in Shadow Hills (Sunland), Ca 1969. Unfortunately, it was me who found them along with his son Wayne, ... we had both recently turned 16.
I just found this article on-line depicting his more famous photograph. The 'cliff' mentioned in the article was Wentworth Avenue which had completely washed out after some very serious storms the previous winter :

The Blind are Also Color Blind

This is one of my all-time favorite photos. I first saw it in college when sifting through old magazines for a research project. (Judging from the dimensions of the page, I'd guess it was a Life Magazine. However, I've always remembered it as being Time Magazine.)

I haven't been able to verify any of the details, but a post on the Internet, states that the photograph was taken in 1964 by LA Herald Examiner photographer Doug Wilson at Disneyland, during an event for the Foundation for the Junior Blind.

Apparently, Lyndon Johnson bought a print for the White House. I would love a print, too, but can't find one for sale anywhere. (Sad side note: The photographer, Doug Wilson, rode his motorcycle off a cliff and died not long after the photo was taken.)

This is really back in the day. . .

I remember watching games on nfl.com with just the graphic of the field. And it would slowly give graphics of the ball moving forwards or backwards (for sometime it was all backwards).

Some of you guys must be as old as I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember those guys. Here in LA we had, all at the same time, Vin Scully, Dick Enberg and Chick Hearn.

I remember in the early 80's my uncle
Would take me down to 7-11 a few
Weeks before the season started and buy me 2-3 football magazines. One was always "Street and Smiths". They gave a breakdown of every teams offseason signings and draft picks along with predictions for the season and player ratings. Schedules stats etc. I would read those magazines back and forward for weeks memorizing all the Rams sections.

I lived in the Bay Area so rarely saw Rams games so I would call into a pay by minute 800 number that gave 15 minutes updates of all scores along with brief game stats and scoring summary. I lived and died by that until my parents finally figured out why there phone bill was so high. :)
