Just thought I'd see what you're doing for Thanksgiving.

I'm doing an Angus "Prime Rib" on the smoker with some baked sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots and onions, green salad, none of that disgusting green bean casserole shit, pumpkin cheese cake, and copious amounts of my nephews wine.

Bring it.

And feel free to post pictures on the day of.

Cheers my Rams loving bastards.

Nothing special. Thanksgiving was the most confusing holiday as a brown kid growing up. All i knew was I got school off, and now work off.

I enjoy the vibe of the holiday tho!

Since our oven isn't working, we are cooking our turkey in a crock pot and it's the first time ever doing it that way.
*Stuffing
*sweet potato casserole
*cauliflower w/ a special cheese sauce (mmmm)
*Waldorf salad
*Turkey breast with turkey gravy
*pumpkin pie w/ whipped cream

Turkey, with hatch red chile, glazed ham, Mac and cheese, sweet potato pie, and pumpkin pie. Sweet potato pie is my favorite, a recipe from a lady I've always called my Godmother.

I'm frying 2 turkeys that I brined with what is supposed to be the world's best brine. I'm gonna inject them and coat em with a spicy rub before I drop em down in the peanut oil. I have an electric turkey frier that makes it very easy. That's what I'm actually cooking but we have a bunch of other grub too.

Also have a smoked brisket and a ham.

Lots of side dishes... but my favorite is collard greens.

The wife got somekind of seafood platter made that is supposed to be killer. Usually I'm cooking a bunch of bugs myself but I didn't stock the freezer with em this year. I'll try to remember to snap a few pics. We're gonna have 15 peeps over including my parents.... plus 5 dogs.

- Roast Turkey
I moved away from the wet brine and now dry brine

- Gravy
From homemade turkey stock, that I made yesterday

- Mashed potatoes

- Dressing with spicy sausage, butternut squash and leeks. It's damn good

- Roasted broccoli with parmesan

- Pumpkin pie

Lots of nice Red Wine, Woodford and cold Bud Light

That food sounds tasty especially the dressing. My pops usually makes ours with andouille, celery, onion, and garnished with craisins. Squash and fennel sounds delicious, will have to try it.

Just some suggestions on your drinks, try negra Modelo (pairs with anything) and if you like bourbon, give Elijah Craig small batch a go. Offers a bit more depth and richness than Woodford.

I'm down with Modelo.
Especially the Negro.

I do like Elijah, bit haven't tried the small batch.
I stay away from Makers Mark. For some reason I get a "dirty" aftertaste.

I got a stuffed turkey breast, stuffing from that, gravy, will make a green bean casserole, and bought a pumpkin pie.

My wife is out of town so a friend came over for Detroit game and helped consume some of it.

Great day.

How did the crock pot turkey turn out?

He makes his own wine?
My son loves green bean casserole. Thats a mandatory every year or he pouts about it. Haha.
This year I browned some onions with almonds and a little garlic and added those in.
Gave it a nice flavor.

I smoked a turkey.
About a six hour smoke.
Injected it with a butter mix.
Loosely stuffed it with sage, thyme, rosemary, quartered onions and a lemon or two.
Turned out great.
The traditional side dishes.
Didn't improvise with anything but the green bean casserole.
Hope everyone had a good holiday.
