Challenging is definitely a great way to describe it. It's a different world than when I played. I coach at a perennial loser, so we're constantly dealing w/ attitude, lack of commitment, struggling to get people to come out. An uphill battle that wears on you.

We had a coach leave for another local school who won a state championship the previous year & I ran into him & got to ask him what was the same/different between the 2 schools. He said they fight the same battles; kids don't show up for weights, attitude etc. The only difference is the athletes. He said they don't even meet as a coaching staff, whereas we will be in the coach's office for hours after the game on Friday nights & hours after practice trying to find a competitive edge. His new school went 9-2 & we went 0-10. It was the second 0-10 of my career. It's not fun at all, but you keep trudging along. We're on our 4th head coach in 12 years which doesn't help either, but it ALWAYS comes down to the Jimmies & the Joes not the Xs & the Os.

Some kids, as we like to say, we're born on 3rd base & grow up w/ the attitude that they hit a triple. Some weren't even born in the same town as the stadium. They, truly, never had a chance.

I am "they". It's a tough job but it's rewarding.

I sell newspaper advertising...boring, but it keeps the lights on and the water running.
 
I'm retired now ... but I was a Purchasing Officer for most of my business career. Now I am a wildlife artist and an author.

I have experience with that, and buying it as well. Along with tons of other media.

That is a job that requires skill and makes most sales look easy. Actually most sales are easy for the right person.

Awesome! Either a brewery or a growler tap room / homebrew shop, or brew pub is my dream. Only problem is the initial cost of the equipment for the brewery...well that and there's no guarantees anyone would want to even drink my beer. But I can dream.

As of now I stick to GIS/ crime analysis for a local police department. It's boring as hell, but it's a job. They think my job is way harder than it really is. And I homebrew on the weekends.

Sr. Network Engineer. Not a passion of mine, but the $ for it in this area makes it worthwhile. Some really cool occupations in this thread!
