...and we average 160 yds on the ground and 225 in the air and 35:00 TOP and crush some skulls.
According to ESPN stats from last year:
We averaged 122 on the ground, 175 in the air, which was good for last in the NFL and a 7 and 9 record.

To not put the effort into Goff to make him the day 1 starter.
My understanding is that they haven't played Wentz much at all because of his injury so how did they get him ready so fast?
It looks to me that we were sold a line of bull about Goff being the more pro ready QB.

There will always be comparisons between these two, and it's something analysts and fans will relish (or get absolutely sick of). That being said, what one is doing ought to have absolutely no bearing on what the other is doing, if the head coach has any conviction at all (and if he doesn't, then why is he the head coach?). You have to go with what's right for the player, not what will save face for you or the organization (or the player, for that matter).

As far as Wentz being pro-ready, it was brought up in numerous places that the system-adjustment would be less of a burden to him. It was one of the main selling points: he played and succeeded in a pro-style system. What pushes Wentz back is the lack of game experience, the lower talent levels he played against, and important traits like accuracy, footwork, and poise. He didn't look any better than Goff in his brief action, and actually, from a throwing perspective, looked markedly worse. Was he more comfortable in the system? As expected, he was. Will that matter in two months, or two years? Not at all.

Im just curious what are some (Wentz guys) here gonna say if Wentz indeed is rushed out there and fails miserably?

That thought hasn't even crossed their minds, reality can be a bitch boys.

To not do everything he could to get Goff up to speed for Week 1.
I don't see the rush. If a first year QB is going to lose with some exceptions (usually joining a perennial playoff team; Flacco, Luck, etc.), what difference is it going to make starting in week 1 or week 5? Maybe he gets beat up a little less? He doesn't have the ability to rush for 700-800+ yards like RG3 or Newton.

The Eagles gave up on the season when they traded their starting qb away and took the picks. Wentz is under no pressure to succeed right away. They will let him take his lumps without caring if they win. They are already in 2017 mode.

Very good point.

That clearly isn't going to register with some here.

If they're not careful they could create the sequel to David Carr, how to screw up a great prospect

I don't think they have to worry about that. Wentz can run if need be. They also have the advantage of not making him into a conservative game manager for fear of losing. May as well let him sling it without fear.

It's not about "rushing" Goff. It's about giving him the best opportunity to succeed while simultaneously giving the team the best opportunity to make noise in 2016.

I doubt they "gave up" on their season but wow at their decision making here! That is a HUGE decision, and the turn of events involving Bradford/Eagles/Wentz/Daniel is just incredible. Lives changed in an instance.

Also consider....in essence, the Eagles got a 1st and a 4th for Nick Foles and a 4th. Not too bad a deal.

But aside from all that, going with Wentz on a whim is going to be devastating in my opinion, but could also work out well. ONE thing for sure, its gonna be a definite case study for @jrry32 to compare for us all year. If it goes well for the Iggles....we'll never hear the end of it ;)

These are two different situations. The Eagles are going to invest the year in developing their #1 pick. They didn't know they were going to trade Bradford--but given the opportunity they took it. That changed their outlook on the season. So instead of investing in a playoff run(which was very iffy anyway)they are investing in their future and obviously feel that Wentz having to learn and take his lumps won't set him back. There is very little pressure.

The Rams have been stuck in .500 hell forever and are continually trying to push that rock over the hill. They feel Keenum can be efficient enough to take a shot at the playoffs. That's their investment. If Goff had shown them he could fill the role without imploding they would have been happy to plug him in the lineup. They just aren't comfortable doing that right now. But if things change--and Keenum fails, it makes sense to give Goff the snaps and work on his development and I think they will do just that.

But there is at least SOME hope that the Rams can make a playoff run--and that would be a LOT of pressure on the kid. Yes--he'll feel that soon enough as all QBs do--but they aren't going to put that weight on him while he's learning. If they are out of the playoff picture, things change.

So if the Rams are winning--everyone will be happy because--they're winning.

If they are losing--people will be happy to see Goff.

So either way--should be an interesting year.

So Goff not getting "up to speed" is on Fisher? Why? If the kid can't learn all the nuances he needs to know (the terminology of playcalling etc), then he shouldn't start. And he might get pummeled so starting him despite that fact, is 'rushing' Goff. Yet you've also said.........

"Goff is mentally tough. If he can't handle it, he won't be successful in the NFL. Mental toughness is a necessary trait."

So basically what you're saying is:

It's on Fisher to make sure Goff "gets everything", not on Goff.
It's on Goff if he can't take the physical pounding, not on Fisher to prevent that by sitting him.

Yes.

Every single #1 overall QB since JaMarcus Russell has started the first game.(with Russell being the last one who didn't because he held out) How did every single other #1 overall QB get "up to speed" if Goff couldn't? Are you telling me that Goff is mentally deficient?

Fisher didn't try to get him "up to speed." That was clear from the preseason and the camp reports. The situation was handled poorly.

Fisher isn't using kid gloves with Goff... He's not taking away half the field, simplifying down the playbook, and all that stuff that happens with most rookie QB's, so it's a steeper learning curve. Fisher didn't want him to start because he's comfortable with Keenum.
