I think we need to make sure those two don't hit FA. They fit our new scheme so well and are playing great football. NRC was such a gift. I love the aggressiveness and physicality he demonstrates on the field.

I also think I'd extend Tru at this point. Yea, he's not a top 5 CB, but he's offering #1 caliber play. If we do that, I think we can add a CB or two this off-season for depth (adding one in the 3rd or 4th round would be a good option), and we'll be in a good spot (since Webster will also be under contract).

Anybody good with numbers regarding cap space? I'm a little nervous, Donald is comes first. But Joyner and Watkins are equally important. I know Watkins has kind of fallen in line and Woods is still the number #1 wide out. But him and Goff will develop even better chemistry next year, so I'd love to have him back. With Watkins, Kupp and Woods, we have a threat on every play. If there were any players that were most important to me, its them.

We have the cap space to do what we need to do.

The NRC play where he took on 2 blockers and tackled the receiver on a screen play was impressive.

And Joyner looks like he was born to play safety. We need to keep him John Johnson together for a long time.

I’d like to think that Tru can see what’s happening here and get on board with a new contract.

Agree the secondary is really becoming big time. Snead has really done a good job on finding defensive backs from Mcleod to Joyner and draft picks like Jenkins, Tru and J. Johnson.

Really like this group we have now. Also Tru doesn't get respect from Rams fans. The guy plays hard every year.

Joyner yup, plus he brings some flexibility most guys don't. Rams would be wise to lock him up. NRC same deal, and I'm sure both are being discussed at least.

Tru I have no concerns extending, but it's unlikely the Rams sign all three. Also it's unlikely Tru takes #2 money. I think he's the guy they need to replace in the draft when all is said and done.

I'll buy what you are selling, but it's hard to draft a guy to play as good as Tru has been. If we could...I'd buy stock.

I think that's where having a guy of Wade's caliber with that staff under him will pay enormous dividends. I'm not concerned with them going that route provided they bring back the aforementioned two.

I, truly don't know Wade's effect in the draft. I hope what you say is Tru. :cautious:

NRC and Joyner are must signs, and Tru I would like to have but anything above 12m might be too much depending how the other contracts work out. especially with Quinn playing well and making it tough decision on his contract

Couldn’t agree more, these 3 guys are critical signings. We should definitely try to get them signed long term before free agency.

But with teams like Cleveland and others with just loads of money I wonder how much of a pipe dream it would be to sign all three.

And now Quinn playing like the old Quinn makes cutting his huge contract questionable.

I kinda want to get AD’s contract settled first before any of this but I’m on board 100%.

I assume KD and co. Want to get AD’s construct out the way first as well.

I think Tru is gonna get a contact more than guys actual value. That's just how it goes with big corners like him. We need NRC and Joyner though. I expect this to get done early during the off-season at the latest.

Add in that we'll have to square up against Wilson, Garoppolo, and whomever the Cards will likely draft next year, for years, it's just damn important to field a good secondary to go along with a pressure-generating front. Donald, Joyner, NRC and hopefully Tru should be top of the off-season list of priorities.

To be fair we played a lot of teams this year with number 2 type of receivers and bad QBs. He shown enough to me that I’m concerned when we do go against top flight receivers he can’t keep up. I think the defense as a whole is peaking at the right time

And we've played a lot of teams with legit, #1's, and #2's. If the argument is we need a legit #1, then I agree, but I also would like to state, that finding a #1 is not an easy task. I lean towards known, before unknown. We can scheme for a known. We can only guess for an unknown.

That’s true and he hasn’t played as good against those number 1’s not knocking TRU it’s just something that has always plagued him. It’s a lot of Rookie CB’s that have came in the league and held that spot down. If TRU Leave or stay I still think we need to have a blue chip CB back there.

I know it’s not easy to replace people that’s why I’m not in the business of wanting to replace Quinn and Barron

I agree with that, except, I won't say he hasn't played good. He hasn't dominated those matchups, but if he got dominated, we would have lost every one of them, and we haven't. He is a pretty good, not great, corner. In his capacity, currently, he would be hard to replace, IMO.
