I hate to be a Debbie downer. I love this team, but how do we know that Talib is a number 1 cb? There really is no such thing as a shutdown number 1 cb anymore. (QBs, coaches and coordinators are too advanced now with their schemes). He only played 2.5 games then got hurt. I think Fowler Jr. is going to help our pass D more than we know. We also have to blitz Littleton and Barron on the inside LB blitz some more. Look at Pittsburgh’s 3-4. They send their LB’s on blitzes quite a bit and don’t leave their corners on an island for too long. The Rams hardly do blitz and expect their back end to hold up and more often than not it does not. We have to get a little more creative to get pressure on the opposing qb. This is something Gregg Williams defense did if our DEs didn’t get home. He probably blitzed too much. A happy medium would be ideal. Yes we got burned some by opposing rushing attacks but you can’t give elite QBs all day to throw. You have to knock them down and make life miserable for them. Wade has been too patient with his scheme to work but it’s not working (except against weaker teams). Maybe disguise some coverages more and switch corners on different receivers so the offense doesn’t know what’s coming every single play. These offensive masterminds like Asshole Face will carve up any defense that’s too predictable. Maybe he has too much pride and doesn’t want to change, but he’s gotta throw in some wrinkles and get more aggressive earlier on in the game. We can’t rely on Talib coming in Week 12 to change this defense drastically. Keeping Peters on the number one WR all game when he’s getting burned all game is foolish and the opposite of creative. Pretty ironic considering McVay and the offense are so creative and so unpredictable from the opening snap until the final snap. We need more aggressive play calling from Wade from the start and not wait until we are in a dogfight in the second half
