OBJ is pretty much a done deal. Wasn't he at Mcvays wedding and I saw him at the ring presentation party. This isn't a war with player/FO, he's functioning as a player of this team without the contract.

OBJ is just talented depth and you can never have too much. It's not to have an extra body to play week 1, but 'unknown' knee issues might linger, and if we lose Van for the year lets say now our 3rd WR is a question mark and potentially a weakness. Signing OBJ should have been a focus with a 100% healthy Van, but now that Van is having issues with his knee I think we need to make sure to sign OBJ. We can't afford to head into the playoffs with Skow or Tutu getting full 3rd WR snaps. We have the cap space to sign Odell we need to do it IMO.

I'm not arguing with you. Kupp, Arob and OBJ means a guaranteed superbowl win. But there's no urgency to sign him. He knows that, the Rams know that. It will get done once he's healthy.

No one knows how much talent he has after the second surgery in the same knee. Signing him before he can prove he’s capable is dumb.

Maybe it's covid with jefferson?

Whatever it is hope it works out

That's a fair perspective to have and probably exactly why we're waiting. But reports came out that OBJ's original ACL surgery in Cleveland didn't go very well and there were still lingering issues with the ligament. That it was a matter of time before it tore again. By all accounts the surgery in March went great and there is a legit chance that come playoff time and even more so next year we see an even better Odell than we did in 2021. And I'm just talking purely physically. God knows what he can do in this offense once he's fully comfortable with the scheme and all aspects.

I was really excited by his progress last year as he got comfortable with Stafford. IF he can get out there and be 90% he would be a productive piece and it sounds like McVay is well aware of what’s going on with him. I h as be my doubts that he will want to be WR3 or 4

Proof there's no such thing as too much depth.
So true... having the team's #3 WR out is not a positive for Coaches Liam Coen/ Zac Robinson/ Eric Yarber but for the other lesser-known WR's who were out for most of last season (TuTu Atwell/ Jacob Harris)& the new guy Lance McCutcheon ...... it's a positive. There has been a ton of positive articles authored during the spring drill on Atwell & McCutcheon.

Some might look @ RB's who do have the skills to be solid receivers out of the backfield like Jake Funk (4.43 sec/40) this might assist him to make the MR53.

Right now I am thinking that a healthy Raymond Calais is moving up fast & ahead of Funk as the #2 RB in the depth chart @ RB. But Calais is far more KR/PR/RB than a receiving back. There's not much in the way for Calais is there? Can you consider the continuously injured :injury:Darrell Henderson or quickly injured "broken foot" Kyren Williams as bonified competition?

OC Coen's RB A.J. Rose has a well-documented resume lacking in passing game skills & struggles in pass protection. New RB Trey Ragas isn’t a proven receiver either in college or NFL either but was the resident power back when he played with Calais in college they were a very good duo.

It may be best to look in the TE room for any extra help in the receiving department if Jefferson is out for any long length of time.

How is that helping the team from September to December?

.
There are eggs and there are chickens.
The odds that someone loses a WR or two and is a competitive team....so Dallas for a random example....and they swoop in with a too big money offer to grab Odell increases every day closer to the season we get.
Get him locked in.

if jefferson is going to be out - then we may need to sign someone else.

Will Fuller, Cole Beasley, Emmanuel Sanders, Desean Jackson, TY Hilton, are some names i know that are still out there.

I don't think we need to sign anyone else, there is great depth at WR especially with Jacob Harris being a WR now too. It will depend on the length of the injury, but if it's a few weeks of the season I have confidence in the likes of Harris & maybe even Tutu Atwell to fill the void until Jefferson returns.

It does depend on the severity of the injury - but I guess i disagree about the depth of our receiver core. It was a big issue in the Super Bowl and nearly cost us the game once OBJ went down.

None of those players you mentioned have proven to be threats or productive.

This is a position group that concerned me even before the Van Jefferson injury news.

I am far more positive that Harris could fill the spot that #3 role Jefferson had than Atwell.

I also want to see a lot of McCutcheon in the preseason.

Maybe there is simply some cartilage floating around in there that needs to be cleaned up. If true, he will only miss a couple of weeks. We can only hope.
