“We look forward to having America's favorite snacks back on the shelf by this summer.”

Daren's father, Dean Metropoulos, teamed up with Apollo Global Management to offer $410 million for Twinkies and other snack cakes. Their offer was to serve as the minimum offer for the business but no other bidders emerged.

Besides the iconic Twinkie, Hostess' snack cake line also includes cakes, which include CupCakes, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos.

News of their winning offer was revealed late on Monday in a court filing.

I tried one recently, before they were removed from the stores and it just didn't have that same delight I recall from when I was a kid. Oh man, if you folks had one from the 60's or 70's OMG! It was like angel food cake stuffed with the most delicious real cream filled center you can imagine. If they made them that way now, it would cost a fortune.

I have moved on to Tastykakes.
Twinkies are like a exwife now..... Never Go back.

I have no idea if they changed the recipe or not, but do you think part of that could just be fond memories?

I know I had a similar thing in my childhood. I loved spaghettios and bagel bites lol. nether taste nearly as good as I remember.

Glad twinkies are coming back though. Been craving one since they were pulled from the shelves

Last time I had one was at the Fair. Deep-fried, no less.

Talk about your nutritional values in the negative range.

I can't believe the fuss that came from Twinkies possibly going away.... I mean I guess it's cool they're back, I don't eat them or anything though.... Our country can't unite when there's terrorist attacks on a city, but dammit you try to take our Twinkies away....

I hope they bring Merita bread back. That is what I miss from the Hostess company.

You're right about the fond memories. I was sounding like "the old man" on Pawn Stars when he talks about things from the past. The memories and reality are different. You nailed it on the spaghettios. Those don't taste the same either. I think I was so sugar deprived as a kid, the twinkie tasted like heaven on earth for a young body craving some energy. Now, me watching fat intake and cholesterol, they are not so good.

lol Do they still have nutty bars? I would destroy those things at lunch in highschool.
