At worst you could probably turn him into am explosive RB/WR gadget guy if he didn't work out as a QB. Not taking him high though... late 3rd maybe if you get another pick in a trade down, but then McVay better see something he really likes in him as a QB.
The Rams aren’t looking to the future with Mattew Stafford & Jimmy G.Don’t understand Oldschool’s logic on Jimmy G. ,unless it’s because Dieterbrock ram is SO wishy-washy ?Rams also have Bennett who has 2 seasons if counting a Redshirt season.Plus late rd pick could have options.……
with 3 in the 6th rd

Big day for Mitchell Evans tomorrow. Could move up the TE board with a good showing.

Not for a team without a 2nd round pick
I get that we don't have a 2nd round pick but is there a reason we'd need to get desperate for a particular player or position? If Taylor is ranked the 50th best player and another position is ranked 35th, why not take that other position?

IMO, 30 is high for Taylor. Do you see a difference between 26 and 40? 26 and 50?
Not really.

And especially not when people who actually talk to NFL teams say that there are about 12-15 first round talents in this draft class and the next rated 30-40 players could come off the board in any order.

No desperation. If the Rams keep R1.26 they need to just pick BPA (based on their ranking) as they need help all over but aren’t desperate for any one position.

I see it but the other argument is that that area of the draft is relatively flat... so if he's who you want and he fits a need you go get him. That being said, I just prefer some of the CBs in that range for this team right now and that is no knock on this kid, cause I like him.

Who's desperate? If the player they like is the 50th ranked player, it doesnt matter if others rate other players higher.
We're talking about the Rams draft board and who they want

For my hypothetical of Taylor being ranked 50th versus another player being ranked 35th, I was talking about the Rams draft board rankings. In such a scenario it wouldn't make sense to take Taylor without a small trade back. If you can't trade back, take 35 over 50.

This doesnt really make sense. The conversation was if the Rams liked Taylor and drafted him at 26 despite being ranked 30,40 or 50th
If he's the player they like, they should take him since they dont pick again until the 3rd round
So I dont understand this "other player they rated higher" bit, that's an entirely different conversation. If they like someone else more, that's the person they should regardless if they are ranked 30,40 or 50 as well

If they feel he's a top-30 player and ranked higher on their board than other available players, then yes, I agree they should select him at 26. But I disagree with the logic that they should take him merely because they like him and won't pick again until the 3rd round.

Basically, I'm saying take BPA. I was always speaking from the assumption that they're gonna go by their board.

Ok, you're talking in circles
He's the player they like, they draft #26, They feel he wont be around when their 3rd round pick rolls around so they take him, regardless of what other teams rank him.
If there is another player they like more, then we'd be talking about that player, and the same wash, rinse, repeat
I truly dont understand what you arguing with?
I dont care what rankings say is the BPA, only care how the Rams figure that out

If they like him the most out of all players, then yes they'd draft him at 26. Sounds like we're on the same page.

This all started though because someone said they like Taylor, feel he's the 40-50th ranked player, and feel drafting him at 26 is high. Someone else essentially said just draft him anyway. Assuming the Rams ranked him the same way at 40-50, I wouldn't advocate drafting your 50th ranked player at 26.

If you're fine with that, so be it. I'm not. No biggie though.

And the Beat Goes On. Friendly suggestion agree to disagree and move on to next topic.
