Puka missed 7 games if you include the Detroit game when he left early last year . 6 his rookie year is what Taylor had for his whole career at LSU.
You are comparing a college TE in a 12 game college season to an NFL player with a great QB in an NFL offense in 17 game seasons and this year he still played in 12 games.

Point is the number of times they threw a TD to a college TE means nothing in the NFL and how McVay would deploy him.

True but 6 TD's for a career is underwelming especially the way college games are shootouts these days with no defense except for a few Big 10 teams. Like dieterbrock said we might have a guy as equally as talented Davis Allen on our bench.

And nobody said not to draft the kid, just not the game changer they were hoping for in the first round. Seeing him more in the 2nd or 3rd. Like Puka, his limitations or concerns had him in the 5th round

Loveland is a no brainer first rd stud who has 11 career TDs... I mean that's not overwhelming. And Taylor did play in the SEC. It's not like he was playing in the Big 12 or old PAC 12.

Loveland is a beast, if you cant see the difference I dont know what to say
Loveland had 5 TD this year in 10 games
Taylor has 6 total TD in his career, 38 games

It's not just about the TD's though Loveland is miles ahead of Taylor it's not even close.

I dont know how he was even brought in to the conversation. Pretty embarrassing really.
Alas, some times people get so invested in just arguing that they lose sight of what the conversation was even about.

I was only pointing out TD numbers are not everything. Different systems and circumstances. For whatever reason, McShay was saying the NFL scouts love Taylor which is why he is rising and is making a number of top 30 lists now. I guess they don't know as much as you guys.

3 words “More Explosive Offense”. It’s my theme for this years draft for the Rams.
I've been guilty of saying explosive offense too but McVay's actual words were "versatile" offense. Who knows what that means.

Well maybe you should read what people are saying and not twisting it in to an argument? Nobody said he wasnt a good player, what was said is that he's not a TD machine. And he clearly is not. Taylor had only 2 the team's 29 passing TD, Loveland conversely had 5 of the 12 TD passes thrown by Michigan QB, that is a TD producer.

Looks like someone does know something after all?
One thing he ain’t is a TD machine with a total of 6 in his 3 years at LSU. He becomes interesting around pick 45 in my book.
Remind me, when do the Rams pick?

Some perspective. Taylor played with 2 first rd picks at WR in 22' & 23' and Lacy this year.

Who did Loveland play with?

And again, I am not saying he is better than Loveland. All I am saying is TDs is misleading. To base his ability on that is just dumb. He played with two great WRs for two of his 3 years. And Lacy was a big time college WR this year. Loveland was pretty much Michigan's only NFL caliber receiver the last few yrs.

It's like saying Trey McBride blows because he doesnt score TDs for the Cards.

And cool your jets on bitching about my post. Relax. Again, just saying don't base a guys ability on a TD stat. Completely different situations.

Taylor will go quickly in rd 2... to say he is Davis Allen is the real dumb take in this thread.

He caught 2 td passes out of 29
Bizarre you can’t just acknowledge he hasn’t been an end zone threat.
Alas. Moving on now

Bingo. This entire back and forth was in regards to considering Taylor with the Rams R26 pick. I stated IMO I wouldn’t be interested until around pick 45. I also pointed out he was not a TD machine in college. So wouldn’t it be interesting to see the Rams get Taylor at R2.46 AND garner a R1 pick in 2026. Much much more value for that pick. That was my point. Sorry if it wasn’t clear.

Dude, I never said he was or wasnt a redzone threat. I was just stating he would be a good addition. He is talented.

Your takes are about as accurate as your namesake's passes were.

And I also mentioned him as a trade down target, but said there were many draftnik types mocking him to Philly or the Chiefs late rd 1, or an early rd 2 pick. I didn't claim he would be a great pick at 26. Just said if stuck there he might be an option.

I more objected to the Davis Allen comp... that was absurd. And yes, when you play with Brian Thomas & Malik Nabors, then Kyren Lacy this year, you may not put up huge TD numbers. I dont see that as a big issue.

It's not a crime to think higher of a player than others do we see it all the time and from a lot of different people. Not just ROD but there were people hyping Taylor Bech and both the Ohio St RBs. The rb from Iowa the Iowa ST wrs and a lot more.

Nobody but you said it was an issue.
He's not a TD machine, end zone threat etc. That's not what he's drafted for. As for LSU and who is a TD machine and EZ threat? Freshman Tight End Tre'Dez Green who caught 4 of the 29 td passes, at 6'7 he's one to watch going forward as he isnt going to play basketball any longer and focus on his football career.

True... yet people jumped down my throat for suggesting Taylor was a target for us.
