it's actually a very big file. It took a little while for it to load for me too. One of those vids you have to pause and let load for a couple minutes before you play it.

I know. I just don't understand how someone who is capable of creating such a pretty progress bar has absolutely no concept of time....if the connection is this, and the file is that then buffer this long.

I did that test at work. They throttle weird things, so if I connect to St. Louis (for instance) I get 1 Mbps up and down.

On the topic of inept IT Departments, I also found out that my work does not want me to have a wifi hotspot in my office. Apparently they can fire me over this. If I want wifi (which by the way, they are supposed to provide for me) I have to spend $1200 out of my boss's budget. As a preventative measure, I hid my SSID. :sly:

Its not really a matter of network security. The campus Wifi password is publicly available. Additionally each user has to register the mac address of each network interface they want to use on the network, wired or wireless to access the network in any capacity. I've set my router to forward DHCP authentication toward their DHCP server....basically they control who connects to the network through my router. It is just an access point really no different than the one that they offer...mine is actually probably more secure.

I don't really know why it costs 1200 bucks. Enterprise routers arn't cheap, but they shouldn't be 1200 bucks. A side story: about a year ago, my boss got his computer upgraded. (btw, they ran off with the old Computer, which was supposed to be my upgrade from Pentium 4 land :evil: ) He had a backup of his old computer safely on his new computer...a month passes. Apparently IT has a policy that they delete your backups that reside on your computer after a month. They made him pay 50 dollars to recover the data that they deleted.

They seem to have the mentality that the employees are there to serve them. </random rant>
