Basically, these two brothers and their friend found out that their stepfather had molested his own nine-year-old daughter, and beat him to death. Yes, they searched him out three times, yes, it was premeditated, but I'd do the same for my sisters.

It breaks my heart to see these three boys charged as criminals for doing something any sane and goodhearted person would do.

Not only that, dude had an outstanding warrant from another child molestation allegation.

Can't they be both?

The guy they killed was a scumbag - but he was going to jail because of the outstanding warrant anyway, and it would be far from a cakewalk. Instead, they are going to jail.

Turn him in. If he gets off somehow kill him then - but let the law go at him first

It's a tragedy to see three young men fuck their lives up over that asshole. It's a tragedy that the girl has to deal with that going forward too, poor kid. But they still gotta be tried and sent through the system now.

We can't have people taking laws into their own hands. Even if the guy did deserve it.

Individual people are no better than our system at dispensing justice though. Bad as it is it is better than the online electronic instajury we see nowadays with social media magnifying that lynch mob mentality.

It's texas. The same state where a man was found innocent for killing a man who raped his daughter. They'll get a leaner sentence due to the nature of the crime the stepfather committed.

I get what y'all are saying...but rapists and molesters are hard to prosecute due to the nature of their crime; victims are reluctant to come forward. The stepfather may have had an outstanding warrant, but that begs the question of why he was still on the street and not in jail.

And I'm thinking with my heart on this. If that happened to one of my sisters...well, I'd do the same damn thing they did.

No one will weep for the dead molester but a heartbreaking situation got worse and the girl ends up with fewer people in her life to be there for her.

A little patience and the prison code of justice would likely have netted the same result, and the remaining family would not suffer the consequences they are now facing.

I understand what they did and why they did it but you can't take the law into your own hands. That leads to more and more problems also violence has never solved violence.
Law & Order homer….

I'm not really agreeing with what they did, but the problem of that dude raping people seems pretty solved. I highly doubt he's going to do it again.

Two wrongs got it.

No. I'm not saying it's right.

I said that problem is solved.

Violence never solved violence is inaccurate. It's not the morally correct answer, but it does solve the problem. Those guys are going to be tried and hopefully sent to jail because what they did was wrong.

And now the kids because they took matters in to their own hands have other problems that need to be solved. Violence doesn't solve a damned thing.

I'm not arguing that they created more problems. I'm arguing that violence did solve the problem of that guy raping little girls. Consequences for the guys in question don't change whether or not that specific problem is solved. Again, it's not the optimal solution. It's not even in the same zip code as the optimal solution. There's a lot of fallout and negative consequences from solving it that way. I wouldn't recommend it and I think it's wrong.

This happened a long time ago in Texas. A dad whose son had been molested by his karate instructor pretended to be on a payphone as the suspect was walking in the courthouse escorted by two detectives. As the suspect walked with his escort he turned and shot the suspect and killed him. There were no charges filed. I think it was deemed as justified. The video of it used to be on YouTube.
