I honestly think there is some type of plan in place to bring him in on a playoff run kind of like Weddle and I think he’d be open to that tbh.
I'd love to see that. Let these young DL marinate together in the season stew then garnish with AD bitches.

Man, maybe it’s wishful thinking, but seriously think our FO could entice him since it ended very very friendly and respectfully. By then that natural itch will have been going months for him, that football itch.

AD also said he’s “fulfilled” and doesn’t have the same love to play the game anymore. It’s in his interview with his wife.
Oh nooooooooo Honey……..I’m done playing football

lol

if she is anything like mine, in 6 months she will be begging him to stop playing Madden all day and get out from under her feet.

I retired March 15 and my wife asks me daily when I am going fishing

if we weren’t old I might worry she has a boyfriend

Would have been nice if we put this talent in the front 7 around AD but that time has passed. It's time for the new blood to make their mark on Rams history.

if the team is rolling and the defense is feared, I can see Donald sniffing around close to the playoffs. Go rams.

Can you paraphrase what is said for those of us who cant listen?

Eric Weddle Mark 2.

But didn't think AD will go for it because he's too principled to come in for the playoffs if he didn't go through the first 18 weeks with the boys.

Said he will leave 99 open just in case.

Say the last week of camp or so he says I want to play. Do you play him? Coming back that late could screw any chemistry that develops in camp between the rest of the defense.
And this won't be popular but the last two years AD was slowing down a step. Constant double team and playing against the other teams best guy. That would be very frustrating and demoralizing.

This - However, I bet the other players though would say we want you to come back man. We don't care that you only played 10 games to our 20.

Well of course you put him on the PS and make him climb the ladder. Who does he think he is. The greatest DL to ever play the game or what???

AD still needs to do his farewell tour. Hope he comes back at least mid-year.

"Constant double team . . . That would be very frustrating and demoralizing"

I think this had at least something to do with it, in fact AD said so himself in one of the interviews I saw.

Maybe with the new infusion of DL talent, he may come back feeling he will be freed up a little and not 2B and 3B teamed as much?

This thing with AD is what I compare with what I call, "stripper love". It is time to move on to life after AD, we can all look back with fond memories, but it is time to look toward the future. "It is better to have had then lost then to never had the delight of AD playing for our Rams".

Two circumstances might prompt a late season comeback 1) a major injury on the D-LINE after a dominant season and playoffs are locked; 2) above .500 at the bye with a top 3 offense but defense giving up close games.

Both scenarios are AD returning to save the season as a rotational player (where his old teammates beg him to come back). Absent that, i think he stays a fan.

I wouldn't be too quick to rule this out. Remind yourself of that story of the Rams showing up to practice early in their Pitt visit and AD being there like an hour before all dressed and ready to fuck.

This will be his first offseason of retirement too. It's gonna be hard on him. I can speak to that just with my own career, after many years and deployments finally being at home all the time was surprisingly rough to adjust to. And I never liked my job the way AD liked sacking QBs. So don't be surprised if he is around a lot come camp and on the sidelines during the season and maybe finds his way into a role for us come the playoffs.

I don't think it's likely or anything. But possible? Certainly.

And when he was going to retire beforehand as stated by him after the SB win, what kept him playing!? What changed his mind? That’s right, a huge ass contract upgrade.

*edit: sorry I swear I quoted somebody else originally, and they were questioning his ability to still be at the top level. What you said makes sense to me. Not sure if I quoted the wrong person originally or what.
