The Rams are 3-4 major upgrades away but we can make the playoffs with a couple nice acquisitions.

I would immediately go after Trent Brown PFFs highest rated LT this year. He is a FA and most likely not resigning with NE. Sure AJ Jackson is ok but he is not 6'8" tall and 380 lbs he becomes our Whit for the next 4 years. Won't cost much like a 5th I've heard since they have no leverage. This immediately helps the run game on the left side and gives Stafford a solid blindsided protector. #1 big upgrade.

Next I would go back after Burns they will have to franchise to keep him he will be seriously an unhappy camper if that happens.

But separate of him I love Denielle Hunter only 28 and leading the leagues in sacks with 9 and is a FA. Unfortunately Minny has done well of late so I'm not sure about him but will cost way less than Burns.

Then there is Bonito in Denver, Young or Sweat in Wash. or a cheap get Lawson from NY. #2 Big upgrade

To wait to the FA market is fine and saves draft picks but then we are competing with more teams.

Both would need to be signed long term.

In the short term we may help solve some of our biggest needs and at least we get the pieces we exactly need for the future.

I think I'd wait till after the Dallas game. I'm not sure there is any one guy out there that makes us a legit playoff team. I'm ok with trading for a proven guy as long as its not a half year rental. I'd prefer it be for someone they think can be a good player for them over the next few years. This not like the Von Miller trade where he was the missing piece to a championship team. We're more than one player away.

Or two.....

What they are probably doing is evaluating the guys on the roster.

Is Young going to be a very good edge rusher/OLB? They may believe the answer is yes. He passes the eye test.
So who else on the roster do we have? Hoecht? Mathis? Hampton? And who is set to come out in the draft? Anybody that blows us away? So should we trade multiple picks for somebody?

I'm not sure AJ is the LT of the future. I honestly think he's better suited inside but what they think is what counts. Any potential trade partners for a LT? Maybe. Maybe not. Anybody coming out in the 2024 who might be interesting? Penn St LT and Notre Dame LT?

What else do we need? A CB? A RB? A TE? Another WR? Anybody worth trading for this year?

Do they want to trade away draft capital or see if we can make the postseason with what we have? That is the question. We will have the answer in less than a week.

Dallas and the GB game we need a Win in either of those games and then we are right there....

Why would the Pats do this? I'm sure he will garner a large FA contract after the season, that should net them a 3rd round comp pick. I see no motivation for them to take anything less then a 3rd rounder. Maybe a 4th and Brian Allen? Or Noteboom?

I'd personally entertain and offer for Chase Young, as long as it didn't include our 1st. To me, he is better then anyone we could draft this offseason, he's young, and I think would fit in perfectly with what we have. The major issue is, he will want a big contract.

My point it helps for a playoff chance but you can look at it as getting these players not on the open market because teams that maybe interested next off season may not be interested at the trade deadline so we beat them to the punch.

What about Mekhi Becton? I know he's been injured, but he'd be cheap and he's a talented left tackle.
The Jets will not move Becton. They have not given-up, and are very thin on the O-Line.

I wanna be a contender as soon as possible, but I just don't see the need to be aggressive at this deadline. Cap and picks are really important to a rebuild. Don't want to have to commit both to one asset.

I would definitely go after Brown if the Pats would trade him.

As others have pointed out, It's so hard to get one of the top LT's. They don't shake loose that often.

If you wait till free agency then you are in a bidding war.

But I don't see any legit playoff run unless we get a LT and also a pass rusher.

Yes to Brown. Getting an OLT of his quality even for a third round pick would be awesome, unless he won't sign.

Yes to Lawson too if he was cheap. Both players relieve the need to draft a certain position. Trading for both of them is about the 2-4 years.

Couple of things…

Snead has said that any Ram trades would only be for long term player upgrades, no more 1 year rentals. I think we can all see the wisdom of that.

The other thing is that if Snead can acquire a quality Edge via trade then Rams could really benefit this year plus of course for years to come. It’s our current biggest weakness and fixing it now would reduce our next offseason needs gigantically.

Just sayin’…

A legit LT is the only position I'd move that first round pick for. McVay has to get this line back to that "good enough" level so they can survive in the playoffs. Having a line that gives up penetration at critical moments means we will win some games but come up short vs the best opponents.

Getting the most from Stafford requires solving LT at the least. He is a gambler when he doesn't trust his line. Fix LT and this offense would significantly improve.

I’m not seeing any likelihood of Snead trading that 1st.

But acquiring an Edge for mid round pick ala Corbett or Dotson? Hell yeah! Would fix that position for this year and years to come.

I'm actually expecting a trade for Chase Young at some point. He's a long term player and a fix for our edge pass rushing issue. I could see him being All Pro playing on the line with AD.
You'd be willing to give Chase Young a 5 year 140-160 mill contract?

My vote would be Danielle Hunter but he’d be expensive. So won’t likely happen.
