Well be doing the happy dance if he leaves for the AFC

Relating this to the "woe is us" thread, I'd rather be in the Rams shoes than the 9ers shoes right now.

Yes, they have a better roster than us right now. But they are also pretty much fucked at the most important position, which is going to severely hamper their chances at winning a chip. They were already going to be over next year's cap before this signing, now they are even farther over - which means this offseason they are going to have to make some very tough decisions and will lose some of their talent.

Their window is closing, and they might not even have one championship to show for it.

Without anything for Bosa next year and a predicted cap of just under $247 million they're almost $15 million over the cap next year. Without a penny to Bosa :D

Well, they went ahead and bit the bullet and signed bosa to a huge amount. It’s do or die this year. They will have no choice but to dump some players and still restructure others in 2024—kicking that can down the road.

You know, kinda like the Rams did—but without the $$ time, battle tested, SB ring wearing QB the Rams have.

All this resting on Mr Irrelevant’s arm and Sam Darnold.

Plus CMac is due for his biennial IR trip…:laugh1:

They're banking on Purdy becoming another Brady or Kurt Warner. They have no resources to upgrade the position now. He came out of nowhere to lead them to a lot of wins. If defenses figure out the reason he wasn't picked drafted till the final pick in the draft, that Lance whiff is gonna rear its ugly head for them.

I get all the 49er games on the local station here. I've seen a lot of their games over the years. Purdy was more of a game manager than elite quarterback. That system rewards quarterbacks who don't force things. Throw short to Deebo, McCaffrey, Kittle, etc. Let them make plays. They might have the best roster in the league.

Its enough to win a lot of games. Some playoff games. Is it enough to win a Superbowl? Win a shootout with someone like Mahomes, Burrow or Allen? I really don't think so. That window is gonna be closing soon. And they will be looking at letting guys with big contracts go.

This year is their best shot. If you win a championship then have to tear it all down, its ok. You got what you set out to accomplish. If it doesn't happen I have to think everything they did would be considered a failure. And all you have to do is look back at the failure to address the most important position.

... and to think we played a small part in that failure is so gratifying!

1 mill over the cap in 2024.Wonder how they structured it.

They have 81M for 2025. Wonder if they kick the cam down for a while?

Its gonna be interesting. Kittle and Deebo's receiving numbers were down from previous years. Kittle's gonna be 30 next month.
Deebo's number were less than half what they were the year before. Kittle did have a career high in touchdowns. But he's only been around 600 yards receiving the past couple seasons.

Deebo went from over 1700 yards receiving and rushing in 2021 to over 800 yards in 2022. From 14 total TD's in 2021 to 5 total in 2022. He has over 100 carries as a running back the past couple years. When he's a receiver he's basically used like a running back with the short catch and run plays. Sure seems like he might be reaching that running back shelf life.

They have some huge contracts with veteran players who have a lot of miles on them. McCaffrey has over 1000 carries in his 7 years. And over 400 receptions. At 27 he's at the age where those guys start to decline.

With those huge cap numbers they might be in the same position we were when it comes to the offseason. They might have to trade or even cut some high priced players next year. If they don't win a championship now I think it would have to be considered a failure for the current regime.

So 69ers last Super Bowl win was 1995? If that’s right it’s been 28 years. That means they haven’t won one in a full generation. So any glory for the 69ers was a generation and counting ago. Every subsequent year is another nail to the heart. Getting so close recently just adds salt to that wound. Couldn’t happen to sorrier sacks of s#%!

The window for the whiners will be closing soon. If they don't win it this season, their window of opportunity will be closing soon. Not to mention it Purdy is decent, he'll need to be paid as well in a few years.

I'd like to see that wind close without a title.
