I still can’t believe these guys drafted Lance, with all that draft capital. I mean seriously.

I see a lot of guys in my town park that can throw a football and run around. Lance is one of those dudes.

Their fans were stoked about the pick. Leading up to the draft, many were despondent because the rumor was that they were taking Mac Jones and most of them wanted no part of him. When they drafted Lance, they were elated and thought they had the next Mahomes. :laugh4:

Those fans are so delusional. I remember when they thought Jimmy Garoppolo was a future Hall of Famer. Now they think Purdy is. Doubt a game manager or system quarterback is Hall of Fame material.

Well, JG did start out like a house on fire. Won a bunch of starts for NE IIRC, then won his first bunch with San Fran. I liked him a lot as a prospect and was bummed when the Pats took him. Of course that's nothing compared to "my guy" leading up to the '22 draft, some QB out of Iowa State....

I wanted the Rams to draft Garapolo with their third round pick in 2014. He went late second round though. Pick #62

Oh, shut up, Lenoir. You're a fucking nickel corner; don't act like you're some number-one hotshot.
Don't get me wrong. Lenoir's comment suggest he's an asshole, making him a perfect 49er.

However, he has been a starter and is a quality cornerback.

He is also a whiner which eliminates any chance of praise.
I'm not with you (and many others here) on that.

I am all for Any and All types of RIDICULE directed at the hated 49ers but I also respect how good they have been for many of the 50 years I have been a Rams' fan. THAT'S what makes beating the 49ers so rewarding.

There's nothing I enjoy more than a Rams' victory but a 49er defeat (to any team) is a close second. I have watched the 2021 NFC Championship dozens of times; and the 4th quarter comeback at least fifty times.

The Niners have been the Rams' primary Nemesis since the early 1970's. The 49ers barely won the Division over the Rams in 1970, 1971 and 1972; and went to the Conference Championship twice. In those seasons, the Rams defeated the Niners 5-out-of-6 games ... four by double-digit-margins.

In the '80s, the Rams had some very good teams but their divisional rival was the best team of the 1980s.

My San Francisco 49ers HATRED goes way, Way, WAY back.

If the Niners had not been so good, defeating them would be like beating the Cardinals ... it's good and nice but not Truly SPECIAL. By comparison, the Rams also beat the Cardinals in the 2021 Playoffs ... I have watched that game 3 or 4 times ... Nice memory ... Enjoyable ... No Comparison to the game played two weeks later.

Funny, I actually rooted for the 49ers against the Dolphins in 1984 because I felt the Dolphins were overhyped and I liked Montana over Marino. I was at a business conference all this week in Stamford Connecticut and was introduced to a colleague that moved from the west coast to Michigan, but was a 49er, Giant and Warriors fan.

We hung out, he likes Makers old fashions too and discussed a ton of sports and hardly any business, which was great considering it was the end of the week. Both of us decided to just trash the Cardinals and Seahawks and the Churchill quote came to mind. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

I confessed to him at the beginning that I don't lose sleep over the Cardinals and Seahawks and his immediate response was "Fuck the Seahawks." and I said, have a seat.

I was still struggling to get-over the Rams home-playoff-loss to the Giants.
That was their only playoff-loss in the 1980s where I felt the Rams should have won the game.

My father was a life-long Giants' fan (grew up near Yankee Stadium).
It was a tough game to watch because we were both intense fans but had so much love for one another, neither would show much pleasure from a victory that hurt the other.

My Dad too, he was all New York, Yankees, Giants, Knicks & Rangers, i am Dodgers, Rams, Lakers & Kings. I remember that game too, big 4th and short play and the Rams hand it off to Dwayne Crutchfield instead of Eric The Great...Egad!

I also remember them interviewing Lawrence Taylor after the game and he was exhausted and he commented on how tough David Hill was as a blocker.

Very similar here.
I was a huge Rams and Lakers fan but my baseball team was the Yankees ... my father's team was the Mets.

If my father had met your dad, and they had a couple drinks, and talked about their families, my old man probably would have said something along the lines of ... "I have a great son but when it comes to rooting for sports' teams, he's kind of an idiot ... What about yours?"
