What's AD's fine total? If I understand correctly it's 40k per day after the start of TC and 103k if he does not report by game day.

July 28 to September 3 (Rams TC dates) would be 37 days. 37×40k= 1.48M and a total of 1.58M if he doesn't show up on game day. AD is slated to make 1.8M this year under the current rookie contract.

Unless he's getting a large advancement from CAA (probable), something tells me AD will be reporting shortly and ending this game of chicken.

If his fines almost total a year's salary, he may as well sit out the season. Other than losing a year towards free agency, what does he have to lose? A new contract fixes everything though.

NFL players who are unhappy with their contracts routinely miss voluntary offseason work. They sometimes even miss mandatory training camp practices, which come with fines of $40,000 a day. But they hardly ever hold out into the regular season.

That’s because players get their base salaries in 17 weekly game checks, and players who don’t show up to work for a week are docked one-seventeenth of their salaries. A player has to be really unhappy with his contract to forego that kind of money.

Texans offensive tackle Duane Brown and Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald are really unhappy with their contracts. And both are continuing to hold out as the regular season begins.

Brown, whose base salary is $9.4 million, will lose $552,941 this week, and every week he continues his holdout. Donald, whose base salary is just over $1.8 million, will lose $106,014 a week.

The last player to leave that kind of money on the table was Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor, who held out through the first two games of the 2015 season. His holdout didn’t work, as he ended up reporting and playing out two more years under his old deal before agreeing to a new contract this year. Brown and Donald will hope to get a new deal sooner than that.

That's a good point. Donald's holdout at least has some merit in that he's an elite player playing for relative peanuts. Duane Brown is 32 years old and is already slated to make $18m over the next two years - what the fuck is he looking for?!

It doesn't matter if you're the best player in the league, you can only do so much. The Oilers traded Wayne Gretzky during the height of his career, and Gretzky is 100 times the hockey player than Donald could ever hope to be as a football player. There's only one GOAT #99, and his name isn't Aaron, it's Wayne.

Wayne made the Kings relevant....Not since Marcel Dionne....But he brought a winning culture where there was none.

I don't know what happened to the Suh stats that I copied...but it's already been answered...players like Suh, Donald, Brockers....others....can't really be measured by stats. There is no stat for continually drawing double teams...occupying players so that others can clean up...


As far as Sam Bradford....don't agree. If Glennon is worth $15 million...Sam is worth at least that.

Donald wasn’t just given his contract. His agent negotiated the contract within the confines of the rookie salary cap and received the best contract he could.

They also understated his salary this year. They conveniently omitted the ~$1.4M in prorated bonus which means he will make $3.225M this year. He also has an option next year for $6.892M. He’s probably not going to get a new contract until next year.

Also, keep in mind, it’s hard for most people to feel sorry for him when he’s forfeiting as much as most people will make in several years.

Not sure how the Rams can sign him to the contract he wants without blowing through the salary cap. Clearly Donald is underpaid, but it might require trading a couple of high-salary players to teams with lots of cap space. The franchise tag on Tru isn’t helping either. The other option is to trade Donald, but they’d want a lot in return.

The freaking funny thing is he went to every OTA ..

The Rams could have had this done early, but maybe at a cost of some FA's ??
Those are only my thoughts because he was in camp before for voluntary workouts. --

He started in mini camp & was back the last couple days , which is funny. Those were the days Jeff Fisher usually took vacation early & gave the team off.

The NFL cuts days of practice & then Fisher would cut more. - LMOA - way to go coach. A real players coach - lol.

If you have a team willing & loving the game the players should want to be together working hard for one goal. --- McVay is we not me wanting to go on vacation early after rapping the franchise of how many millions??

Was Fisher making more than Aaron Donald ??
