UDFA OT Ben Dooley Interview, discusses decision to sign with Rams

Love this Dooley kid. Ex wrestler! Great balance; feet; athletic, all Mountain West; was happy to choose between teams rather than get drafted at the back of 7th. Was told he could go in the 6th. He picked the Rams, from four offers, because their scheme fits what he does best. Loves duo concepts; pulling; zone concepts “all the stuff the Rams run”. He’s comes across as a huge character and loves football. “I’m a glue guy”. He will not be out worked; will pour over the playbook; has been busy practicing all 5 positions across the line. They needed someone to play D Line. He practiced for two days. He had two tackles and one QB pressure! They didn’t have enough DL so that was that. “No question I would do anything to help”. This kid is an amazing character! Great interview. Go Rams

Not a huge fan of Edwards or anything but he has size for the slot. And his speed is not unwelcome.

Best way for him to make this team is to impress the staff working outside the hash. Either that or show out as a gunner in preseason.
He was Kentucky’s biggest portent recruit. His trajectory was similar to Verse and our other DL. If he had transferred and had a big year he would have been be a lock for the Senior bowl; combine invite; and being drafted, possibly high, in 2026. That’s a big if but certainly within the realms of possibility. Either way this looks like a smart move on the Rams part:

“Height: 6”3Weight: 195Bench: 315Broad jump: 11.5 Vertical: 40 40 yard dash: At worst 4.4 flat if not high 4.3 And Got Juco filmLet’s keep grinding they gone find me sooner or later. If you don’t believe me come see”

If those figures are accurate, and why would he lie as that wouldn’t go down well with teams, they are impressive

Good summary, I didn't have time to add to the post this morning.

I know I really shouldn't predict when it comes to UDFA...but I really think Dolac, Lampkin, Edwards, Wedig, and one of Williams or Presley has a real chance of making this team. Makes up for our relatively small draft class.

I can't wait to see which numbers our guys take (and we're still waiting for Landman's number in free agency).
Woods and Lampkin excelled on special teams, though. They were a huge part of that. I'd take both of them over Kendrick, who may have more talent, but has far less maturity than both Woods or Lampkin.
Word is kendrick had a starting spot before he got hurt and rams was real big on him

As usual, I'd love to see one of these "maybe the Rams get Ramsey back" posts/tweets/soundbites etc actually consider the salary cap ramifications to the Dolphins and why on earth they'd do it
I think the Dolphins have made it pretty clear that they are parting ways with him, so its all but a done deal (trade or release post June 1 I assume) despite cap RAMifications.

I expected more from Acuri, thought he would be a decent LT, but did not answer the call last year. IMO, it is Leveston and then Wedig could be the Tackle to develop on the practice squad. Although Wedig never played LT.
Big trust in Leveston. Guy hasn't even played one pre season snap.
The coaches know what they are seeing, but, they also trusted Evans among others.
Just sign a vet LT please....

If X. Smith is battling for a 6th WR spot, who is the 5th WR after Nacua, Adams, Atwell, and Whittington?
From what I can tell Mumpfield, Tru Edwards, Cephus Quintet, Drake Stoops, Mario Williams, Brennan Presley that is Xaviers competition at this point for the last two WR spots.
I could see the Rams sign what would be a low cost vet FA option as well as a hedge against injuries.

I wonder if the Rams even consider Leveston a tackle? I thought the idea was to use him more at guard.
That was my understanding when he was drafted, but, haven't heard anything else.
The Rams do have Limmer and Dedich inside and signed a couple of undrafted free agents that are IOL as well.
The lack of concern with T I find interesting.

When I was coaching youth sports I loved it when a kid said they were a wrestler.
The balance, explosion, strength to weight and "work hard" translate to every sport.
