People see holes where there aren't any in reality. If they want a dominating edge they have one in AD. Move Gaines to 3T play Hoecht and Hardy behind AD and Floyd. Hole plugged.
They need a #3 RB. Michel is a cheap vet who produced.
They are loaded at WR.
OL: Noteboom, Thomas, Shelton, Bruss, and Havenstein can be starters. Thomas has some starting experience so only Bruss is inexperienced. They have Brewer, Nsekhe, and Jackson who can compete with Thomas and Bruss but who IMO is starting RT in 2024. That isn't a bad starting OL with 3 decent depth players.
DL Floyd, Gaines, Brown, and Donald. LBs Wagner, Jones, Howard
Secondary Ramsey, Rochell, Durant, Lake, Yeast, and Scott
QB2 is a need. One more serious concussion and Stafford may be down and out headed for retirement. That is reality pretending it isn't doesn't make it go away. This offense runs thru the QB perhaps more than most. Right now lose Stafford and the season is done. There is no other position that can't be filled or compensated for when talking about QB1.
These are guys currently on the roster or likely to re-sign and this team is actually built right now. Add an edge, RB, TE it's all depth.
Next year is another matter. Donald is likely to retire so they need an edge. As for Ngakoue not being able to set an edge, if played properly the 3-4 hybrid which is what the Rams play has an OLB backing the DE. That normally would be Howard if they are in their base defense. In a nickel then the WIL (Jones) slides over. If you remember Howard's INT during the Niner game, that's why he was there to make the pick. He plays closer to the LOS if it's run and drops into the flats or short outside zone in pass situations.
All I'm saying is that in reality the team is essentially built. The biggest need is QB2 or the season is done if Stafford goes down.
