Check this out.

First, there are 25 possible starting positions (including 3 ST specialists).

Here are the new projected '17 starters under McVay.

Whit
Sully
Brown
Higbee (or Everett)
Woods
Kupp
Thomas (or Reynolds)
Barwin
Webster
Coleman

That's 10 new starters, gentlemen, out of a possible 25. Ten brand new Ram starting players.

Not to mention that several former starters will ALSO be playing in different positions vs last year.

Brown
Hav
Donald
Brockers
Easley
Tree
Barron
Quinn
Joyner
Alexander

When one considers the Big Picture, one has to conclude that this is a whole new system on both sides of the ball. Some serious changes from the '16 Fisher model, don't you think?

Only the uniforms will be the same. Oh wait... The uniforms will be different, too. Lol.

Hell, I guess that almost nothing will be exactly the same, huh?

Goff
Gurley
Saffold
TruJo
McQuaide
Hekker
Zuerlein

Needed to be done, and there are more changes still to come. IMO, most of the players from the end of 2016 will be gone by the 2018 season, and quite a few will no longer be playing in the NFL.

Who is Coleman?

And to be fair, Donald, Brockers, Tree, Barron and Alexander all all basically playing the same roles. So that's a bit of a stretch, to make a point.

But I agree with you. Big changes. Just watched All or Nothing, and damn our defense was good. Scary to think how much better they could be for Wade.

Nickell Robert-Coleman, Jack.

Our projected slot CB.

Kind of a long name to type. Should we shorten it to NRC? Lol.

Guess you have not been reading my posts the last few monthso_O

So how did NRC get Joyner's post when the Nickle is unveiled. Thought the plan was Joyner starts @ high safety in the 354 D then when in the nickel Joyner was to moved to play Nickel with a new high safety entering the field to take up the vacated post.

It's a lot of changes in a short time for sure. You could say starters are somewhat fluid in the NFL with the numerous sub packages. Lots of changes and still lots of questions about how McVay will use all the new and old players. I'm wondering

Is Thomas or Reynolds really going to replace Austin as the starter?

Is Kupp on the field with Woods in two TE sets with Higbee and Everett?

How much is Austin going to be in the backfield?

How much does new running back Lance Dunbar see the field?

When does the new fullback Sam Rodgers see the field?

Didn't Phillips say somewhere that bringing in NRC made moving Joyner to safety easier? I know he's also said that Joyner will move back to corner in the nickel, but I don't know how to reconcile those two statements.

All excellent questions, 65.

I think that the best answer has already been given. Everything is still "fluid". Both on O and on D.

I think we can safely predict that Wade is gonna tinker and tinker, then tinker some more until he feels that he knows exactly what he's got on this roster in terms of matchup option advantages. I predict that we might see a whole lotta snaps from several players that are not necessarily thought of as "starters".

McVay will certainly have a more diverse (and effective) O than Fisher ever had. I think it will be like comparing chess to checkers, tbh.

So, all options are gonna be on the table, including the above players that you mentioned.

And that's a good thing, don't you think?

What was I thinking, Bonifay? You are the king of initials for players. Lol.

As to the Joyner/NRC relationship? See my reply to 65 in this thread.

personally I think Rogers see's the Field more than Dunbar! Rogers will lead-block for Guuurley, and Block for Goff, Dunbar will only be in to spell Guuurley! JMHO

Thanks for playing '51. Rogers (no D) looks versatile . He seems to be able to block, run and catch well while throwing decently too. Watching his highlights he would fake blocking and went out as as receiver. You could be right lot's of possibilities with Sam.

Maybe our opponents are wondering the same thing.
Maybe they'll have to plan for something other than Gurley right, Gurley left, Gurley up the middle, short out to Britt, short out to Kendricks, short out to Quick.

Maybe the Rams will have a real NFL offense.

I like(d) Fisher, but the last two years I've witnessed the worst offense I've ever seen in the NFL.
If I knew what the play was....?

It was dogshit, and we deserve to be the laughingstock of the NFL.

We were worse than the Browns and Jaguars, and we deserve the ridicule.

We're fans, I get that, but so are the Cleveland faithful.
Rams have done nothing to earn, (or deserve) any respect.

I'm optimistic, and like what's happening,
But am not betting the over in total wins, which I've done for the last 5 years, and lost.

Hope I'm wrong, (he said on his 69th birthday, 55 years a Rams fan).

Happy 4th all!

Truth is the when you study the current cadre of DB's ....& we here In Rod land have touch on this over the last few months.....Wade is loaded with Nickle & Dime type corners. Just a guess that Joyner might not be needed in the Nickel with corners like NRC, Countess, Gaines, Dominique Hatfield & 3rd rd draft selection John Johnson.
