For those wondering, you need to be in different wars for those. So there were some triple winners from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. There's been less than 350 men who have been awarded the CIB 3 times, due to the length of time between wars, I believe it is the rarest award you can get today, but if not it is definitely among them. 3,450 Medal of Honors have been awarded for comparison.
So if you ever see a CIB with a star on it, and it's not a really old guy, its bullcrap. If there's two stars on it, its really bullcrap, and you can ask him to take you to the Infantry Museum at Fort Benning where he can show you his name.
