Well IIRC wasn't his contact close to ending anyway? If he stayed there, who knows who the GM and coaches would be in that timeline.

But point is, the Super Bowl victory is gonna remain in place long after everyone here is dead and gone. No one is gonna give a shit about the draft picks.

BTW....i wonder what the reaction toward Les Snead would be had they traded up 20 spots or whatever it was to get a WR w/ a torn ACL, miss pretty much the whole year, and then get suspended from gambling to start off his second.

The point is, BOTH teams are better off having made this trade. We've got a Super Bowl ring and the Lions and their fans can start realistically thinking about being a playoff team instead of a bottom feeder.

Outside the Rams I just root against other teams that I hate more than the others. Shitters. Div rivals. Asshat NFC teams like Green Bay or Dallas. Bastards like New England. This leads to interesting dynamics where I find myself rooting for some strange combinations of teams on certain weekends. :laugh2:

Detroit has never mattered enough to be on the hate list.
That's basically my strategy as well.

It’s good for the Rams to have some allies in the league. The Lions, Jags and Broncs appear to be allies.
That’s fine for them since they are “only entertainment”. I’m a Rams fan, don’t care if the rest of the teams burn down every year. If they did and the Rams pounded the league relentlessly for the rest of my life, I’d be happy with that.

100% worth it as the Rams won the Super Bowl. Without Stafford, that does not happen.

Detroit likely views this trade as a win as well. A real win-in trade most likely. Very uncommon in today's NFL. It will be hard to fully evaluate Detroit's haul for at least a few more years yet though.

Yeah that's the bar of the Detroit Lions. To think about being a playoff team. :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: They can have the best of both worlds being relevant in April too!

But seriously...i wont rage if they do make a run, but again i for one hope they dont. How many people beyond this board are still talking about the Rams' SB run? It's being brushed aside for fuckin Lions love.

So?

My appreciation for the Rams Super Bowl run is not contingent on other fanbases continuing to talk to it more than a year after it happened. In fact, it's not contingent on what anyone else thinks or says about it at all.

That's your prerogative. If you or others want to root for them, go ahead, I'm not gonna say you shouldn't. I'm only saying, for me, based on the narratives i've seen of the Rams vs. the Lions, the latter is much more praised, and my favorite's never got nothin more than an "ok".

So again...i hope they fall flat. I'm not gonna root for simply because they made a trade. Fuck them. I hope the trade blows up in their faces.

I didn't say anything about rooting for the Lions. I simply said I don't give a flying fuck whether or not other fans talk about our Super Bowl win or what they say about other team - it doesn't detract one single bit from my enjoyment of it, not even in the slightest. And I think it's a waste of time to worry about it.

If your enjoyment of the Rams most recent Super Bowl win is contingent on other teams fanbases talking about it or talking about another team's prospects, you're doing it wrong.

Ok i take back what i said about you rooting for them, but you gotta be on board that they are rooted more for than against.

And perspective matters beyond just fanbases. Whether if effects our individual experience or not, but it does. Think about it. The Chiefs are beloved. The Eagles are beloved. The shitters are beloved. The Bucs during their recent runs were beloved. The Rams? It was always "mortgage the future" or "bought a championship" or some other crap like that.

That's something i personally can't get over. And i sure as hell don't want another team to benefit off it. Fuck the Lions.

Even by some of our own fans apparently!!

And what difference does it make what their narrative is with regard to the Super Bowl? Does it make the trophy less shiny? Does it make Stafford's clutch no-looker to Kupp any less awesome? Does it lessen Aaron Donald's impact in slamming the door shut on both the 49ers and the Bengals with game-deciding plays?

No.

I just don't get losing sleep over what other people are saying about the Rams Super Bowl win or how we got it. I don't give a flying fuck, there is a trophy in our case, there are rings on the fingers of the players, and it's indelibly in the record books and will be there long after people have stopped talking about the whole "mortgage the future" bullshit.
