Even if we entertain this idea as being more than some rumor fueled by an internet rando, has anyone thought at all where JJ McCarthy fits into this? He was the first round pick of the Vikings and would probably be starting had he not got hurt in the preseason.
Even though I fought till I'm blue in the face with stupid @Merlin about JJ McCarthy IDK or think he's a McVay type of QB tbh. System wise I could see it, but McVay as far as I can tell from interviews I've heard doesn't care one bit for rookie QB's and having to cull them.

Although I'm a McCarthy fan for the setup in Minnesota I'm not sure that'll be a possibility down here.

Reporters don’t do much math do they? $95.5M dead cap. We’re going to need three firsts, the acquiring team will have to relieve us of dead cap debt, and we’ll need players. No team will pay that.

Why would the Vikings want Stafford given the way Darnold is playing?????

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I could understand the Raiders or Giants. But the Vikings? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Halftime trade. Stafford comes out in a Vikings uniform after throwing 2 TD's for the Rams in the first half. Darnold comes out in a Rams uniform after throwing a TD and running for another for the Vikings in the first half. Game ends up a tie after neither quarterback can lead their team to a second half score and traded punts in overtime. The trade is then rescinded as each team decides they didn't want the guy after all.

I wonder if that's ever happened in football before. I know it has in baseball, somewhere, but I'd love to see that, just for the laughs.

My only thought is Darnold has never had a winning season as starting QB. Been on the losing end more than winning. I like Darnold, but there could be concern on whether he has the goods to lead a team on a SB run, fair or unfair he has never done it and clearly Stafford has. That would be the thing that comes to my mind.

Yeah there is no way the Rams would move Matt anywhere he doesn't want to go. I could see Minnesota, since he knows the offense cold and has protection and weapons there. But no way they send him to a non-contender even assuming the rumors are real.
"Hell no. Straight up trade for Aaron Rodgers!" ~ Jets

But...it's Sam Darnold.

And they also just drafted J.J. McCarthy. It doesn't make sense for the Vikings to ask for a quarterback. I'm thinking that it's a good possibility that Stafford is dealt, but not to the Vikings.

The NFL is SO trendy.
McVay and Stafford take it to a Super bowl.
It's a 100% sure thing. :)
Let's do it!

If we trade Stafford, it's over for 5 years, imo.

The NFL is cyclical, and you have teams like the 69ers now struggling. Depending on the quarterback we pick and the draft picks we make, we could easily win another Super Bowl within those five years. That's my prediction.
